One of the most character-building exercises of late is trying to analyse Eagle Farm race meetings since the track was reopened after two years of work. The inside is usually a no go zone, which makes barriers "usually" of no consequence. There are also various fast lanes which develop during the day. Brisbane had an unexpected 11mm of rain on Wednesday and that has been followed by very strong winds. There is some chance of more rain but no matter what, the track will be on the soft side. Exactly how soft is a matter of debate. The rail is out 2.5 metres the whole way but it should have little overall impact. The best advice is to take things carefully until you see a pattern develop.

THE first of many tricky races for the day but the best horse on potential might be BELOSO. He scored a very impressive win at the Gold Coast last start but even the stable have put a label of being a "Boofhead" on him. In other words he is still very raw. He may not win on Saturday but he could be the best horse to come out of this race and he'll be good odds.
PERSISTENT SHADOW has had no luck at all at recent starts and the bigger track here should suit. She should be the one running home hardest.
GAME OF DREAMS is honest as the day is long and should be up on the pace here. He has good wet-track form but the stable believe he is even better on top of the ground.
ROYAL TITHE seems to have had a lot of racing but she is standing up to it well. The use of the 3kgs claim again here for Josh Oliver is one major plus as it means she isn't harshly weighted.
OVERLAP had no luck last start when forced to lead from a wide barrier. His previous form was good enough to be in the finish here and he looks the best value.
SELECTIONS: NO3 BELOSO, NO4 PERSISTENT SHADOW, NO2 GAME OF DREAMS, NO1 ROYAL TITHE

Another tricky race as there doesn't appear to be a lot of early pace and there are a few questions on some runners on a wet track.
AKAVOROUN was back to his best with a win in the Listed Tatts Mile at his last start. He looks the leader here and he likes soft tracks. The only worry is his big weight.
METEOROLOGIST is an 1800m specialist and was a very good winner in restricted class here last start. He has the minimum weight and does like wet or dry tracks.
ANNAMAN was scratched last week for this. He does like wet tracks and another with a light weight.
JETSET LAD is a multiple stakes winner who showed his first glimpse of form last start in the Tatts Mile when third. He is a Brisbane Cup winner and only needs to be near his best to be in the finish.
SELECTIONS: NO1 AKAVOROUN, NO6 METEOROLOGIST, NO7 ANNAMAN, NO2 JETSET LAD

HIDDEN PEARL would beat these by 100 metres if anywhere near her best. She hasn't raced for nine months after being injured last start. She has had five months build up for this and looks very hard to beat after several jump outs and taking a claim here.
ESPIRITU has had no luck her past two starts and deserves another chance here. The only problem is she is usually a fresh horse and is starting to get into her campaign now. But a 2kgs claim means she is nicely weighted here.
G'DAY OLD MATE is old enough to vote but he is still going strongly at the provincial and country tracks. He usually goes okay when he comes to the city.
PIENKNA is a class mare who was once rated to be a likely stakes horse. She has had her share of problems and has a bad barrier here but on her best form would be in the finish without causing a shock.
TREATMELIKEALADY is down in class here. She did look as though the run would do her the world of good when beaten easily first-up. Also she didn't have much luck in her first-up run. Another who on her best from the handy barrier will be hard to beat at good odds.
SELECTIONS: NO2 HIDDEN PEARL, NO5 ESPIRITU, NO3 G'DAY OLD MATE, NO10 PIENKNA
VALUE RUNNER: NO8 TREATMELIKEALADY

PANNO ROSSA has been racing very well and it was just the weight which beat him last start. This time he has a 3kgs claim and the ideal barrier for him. Provided he handles Eagle Farm he looks one of the better bets of the day.
CHARCUTERIE has gradually been getting fitter and it wasn't a bad run last start.
SUPER FORCE was very good in open company last start and this is far easier. Only has to run up to his last start to nearly win this as he is still on the minimum.
IN THE KITTY doesn't win many but always runs on in her races. Funny thing is that being drawn off the track might actually be to her benefit.
WIMPOLE STREET hasn't been too bad lately and this distance suits. He has run some good races at this trip in better company than this. He looks the best value here at big odds.
SELECTIONS: NO1 PANNO ROSSA, NO5 CHARCUTERIE, NO7 SUPER FORCE, NO9 IN THE KITTY

CRUISING SPEED did the right thing by us winning at big odds last start. She will be nothing like those odds this time but from the good barrier looks very hard to beat. The only problem is her weight of 57kgs as she has gone up sharply and isn't very big. But this is no harder than last start and with normal luck should be hard to beat.
THE UMBRELLA MAN was very well backed last start but only plodded in the straight. That was second-up and he is drawn to get a much better run this time. The 1400m will suit and he should handle all track surfaces. We have been waiting for him third-up and he looks a good quinella horse with Cruising Speed.
BOURBON ROAD is THE UMBRELLA MAN's stablemate and was terrible last start but he should be better suited at Eagle Farm. With the last-start run under his belt look for a better effort.
BINARY was well backed last start but got no help from a wide barrier. He is much better drawn here and should be in the finish.
KEEP ON ROCKING can mix his form but this isn't overly hard and a soft track would add to his chances.

THE MONSTAR has been excellent at his two starts this area winning at his first try and then a good second last time. He drops 3kgs here and has a good barrier. Looks the one to beat no matter the track conditions.
INTO THE RED was too strong in the Group Three Healy Stakes last time and although he is up in weight looks well placed after the 3kgs claim.
GRANDE PUNTO has been racing well enough in Sydney to trouble this field at the weights. He does like it soft and looks certain to get the right conditions here. The stable has a good strike rate when coming north.
JOPA likes wet tracks and he does look well placed after the 3kgs claim. JOPA should have finished much closer first up after getting pushed deep on the turn. But on the down side is yet to win in 15 goes at Eagle Farm.
DIVINE SERVICE has plenty of pace and is another who has been racing well albeit in easier races. Provided he is in a good humour and goes into the barriers without too much trouble he can give them something to catch here at odds.
SELECTIONS: NO2 THE MONSTAR, NO1 INTO THE RED, NO6 GRANDE PUNTO, NO3 JOPA
VALUE RUNNER: NO9 DIVINE SERVICE

RISING LUCK has been racing well enough in easier races to be ready to race well here. Trialled well recently and then not bad at all last start. From the inside barrier should get the run of the race. He will be big odds and it isn't a betting stable so the price should hold up.
CRAIGLEA DEKEN has been racing very well in the bush and at his recent goes in the city has had no luck at all. Four runs back at this track he was nearly the best backed runner at big odds all day and had no luck when caught in the wrong part of the track.
In recent years GOOD JOB BRO has never really been classed as a city horse but this isn't all that hard. He ran home well last time and could get into the money without surprising.
REVITALISE has been good again in latest runs and he made up ground last start in a harder race. Every time there is talk of him being retired he strikes a vein of form. It is the same again of late.
LA SPIAGGIA is a lot better than his recent form looks. He usually strikes his best form after a few runs and he is ready now. The pace should be on here and looks good value.
SELECTIONS: NO13 RISING LUCK, NO5 CRAIGLEA DEKEN, NO6 GOOD JOB BRO, NO10 REVITALISE
VALUE RUNNER: NO11 LA SPIAGGIA

This race is a shambles because three of the best chances are emergencies and at the time of writing do not have starts.
RED BOWERS has always shown ability and he isn't badly placed here after the claim. He has been settling a lot better in his races of late and should be thereabouts at the finish.
SKYLIMIT was ridden back in the field for the first time last start and he motored home to win. He should be ridden the same way here and be hard to beat. He was once rated a future stakes horse and is a half-brother to a Golden Slipper winner.
OBERLAND is an emergency but hopefully he will get a run here. His past two starts have got Saturday winner written all over them and he looks hard to beat.
QUEEN TARA was impressive winning at the Gold Coast and looks like Eagle Farm will suit. There will be pace here and she is another who will be running home hard.
JUST A BULLET looks well placed here with the 3kgs claim but has a horror barrier. But then again barrier 19 might not be a disadvantage at Eagle Farm by the last race. He looks the value bet.
SHARPE HUSSLER and REVALDOR would be among the chances if they gain a start.
SELECTIONS: NO2 RED BOWERS, NO5 SKYLIMIT, NO19 OBERLAND, NO7 QUEEN TARA
VALUE RUNNER: NO1 JUST A BULLET
