EXTENSIBLE has placed in each of her starts this campaign. The mare was ridden more positively last occasion and was fair. From an inside barrier in a race lacking apparent early speed, she could again settle handy. A drop back to 1400m also for now might be what she needs.
LABDIEN was fair under the circumstances when a somewhat unlucky seventh on resuming here a fortnight ago. The mare will have taken benefit from the outing and the addition of Avdulla could also be a positive. She is also a previous second-up winner. Suspect this pair have the race between them.
FRILL SEEKING has placed in her past two outings, both at this course. She shapes as a value player with the 3kg claim of Andrew Adkins also used to good effect.
TREE OF JESSE improved considerably at her second run back from a break at Randwick last start. Has won over the trip and ready to peak third-up.
SELECTIONS: No6 EXTENSIBLE, No7 Labdien, No3 Frill Seeking, No4 Tree Of Jesse
VALUE RUNNER: No3 Frill Seeking
R2 12.35pm COLIN MCALPINE AM TRIBUTE HIGHWAY HANDICAP 1100m
LUXURY was well beaten on resuming over this course and distance. She now strikes a substantially lesser contest here. She will be fitter second up and the 2kg claim is used to good effect. With a hot speed anticipated up-front she can be rattling home late.
NO WHEN TO HOLD EM broke maiden status on resuming over 1200m at Canberra 15 days ago. The filly will be fitter for the outing and is drawn to receive all of the favours in transit from barrier (2).
BESIDE YOU is showing plenty of promise early in her career and resumed with a head turning win over 1012m at Coffs Harbour. This is much tougher, however the filly shapes as a light weight hope.
FARAH resumed well at Gunnedah and has generally been a pretty honest customer.
STOP THE FIGHT also in the mix off a solid second on resuming at Coffs Harbour. She will strip fitter and is expected to appreciate the slightly longer sprint journey on offer here.
MOSS MY NAME resumes on the back of a Coonabarabran trial win. Just missed at Mudgee resuming last preparation and has been competitive in a Highway Handicap previously.
SELECTIONS: No1 LUXURY, No13 No When To Hold Em, No12 Beside You, No5 Farah
VALUE RUNNER: No12 Beside You
R3 1.10pm DOOLEYS HANDICAP 2000m
Chris Waller holds all the aces in this one. DUBAIINSTYLE ended a run of outs last start when bolting in over the Randwick mile seven days ago. It was his first look at a mile in a while and a testing mile at that. He relished it, so a rise to 2000m only seems logical.
While left in his wake, SO WILLIE was brave in finishing second to Dubaiinstyle last start. He meets the winner 2kg better at the weights and is rock hard fit. He must stand a chance of turning the tables.
FIREBIRD FLYER while a well beaten second last start at Randwick has generally held her form well this campaign. Four weeks between runs on an extremely testing track may not have suited.
MORE THAN FABULOUS has won two of his past three outings, both of which have been over 1900m at Canterbury. His latest consistency is hard to fault.
DOUKHAN also has the ability to spoil the Waller party having placed on resuming over 1910m at Canterbury. A freshen-up since that outing isn't conventional but his lone prior visit to this course did yield a win.
THUNDER DOWN UNDER won successive races in NZ before crossing the Tasman. 35-days between runs but can match it with the other.
SELECTIONS: No9 DUBAIINSTYLE, No5 So Willie, No10 Firebird Flyer, No7 More Than Fabulous
VALUE RUNNER: No5 So Willie
R4 1.45pm ST JOHNS PARK BOWLING CLUB HANDICAP 1500m
ZAUNKONIG kicked off his latest campaign with consecutive wins before a less than ideal outing here a fortnight ago. The entire was caught wide no cover on speed throughout and to his credit fought on well under the circumstances. A senior rider jumps aboard here and the son of Northern Meteor should be peaking fourth-up.
LANCIATO was safely held last start over 1550m at Canterbury three weeks ago although probably would have finished closer with a bit more luck in the straight. He now drops in class on that outing and the 2kg claim helps offset the 60.5kg impost.
MORE TO GAIN was sound on resuming last start over 1200m at Gosford. He will have taken benefit from the run and should thrive rising to this trip.
PIRATE BEN was excellent over 1250m at Canterbury off a freshen-up. He is better suited up over this distance and the 3kg claim is again used wisely.
AURORA GLOW rises in grade but is heading in the right direction with each run this preparation. From a leading stable she has appeal off a last start win over the mile at Wyong.
SELECTIONS: No10 ZAUNKONIG, No3 Lanciato, No5 More To Gain, No1 Pirate Ben
VALUE RUNNER: No10 Zaunkonig
R5 2.20pm SMITHFIELD RSL CLUB SAN DOMENICO STAKES 1100m
CAPITALIST should be prominent. The colt resumes after a two-year-old season where he claimed the Magic Millions - Golden Slipper double. The colt has been given a pair of trials over 850m at this course in readiness for this, winning each of them in good order. He gets plenty of weight relief off his more seasoned rivals here and can pick up where he left off.
STAR TURN resumes after a two-year-old season where he was Group placed. The colt has won each of his trials in readiness for this, the latest here over 900m. He looks to have returned in good order this campaign and gets 4kg off Capitalist under Set Weights plus Penalties.
TANGO RAIN has won each of his two career starts by making all, both at Canterbury. He will go to the front and with the benefit of race fitness over key rivals, he could potentially take some catching.
MOUNT PANORAMA resumes for his new stable on the back of a Gosford trial win. Placed three from four in his first preparation, all in G3s.
SELECTIONS: No1 CAPITALIST, No3 Star Turn, No4 Tango Rain, No5 Mount Panorama
VALUE RUNNER: No3 Star Turn
R6 3.00pm MERRYLANDS RSL CLUB PREMIER’S CUP PRELUDE 1800m
ALLERGIC resumed soundly in the Winter Challenge Stakes, finishing a close sixth behind Marenostro. It was a strong effort first up over that trip on rain-affected ground. He should have come on from the outing and now meets the winner 2kg better at the weights. With anticipated improvement, he could take some beating.
MARENOSTRO will be no pushover though. A last start winner, he is rock hard fit and possesses a good record at this distance. Whilst by Duelled, he is a slight query over 1800m however.
LOOPHOLE dropped in class and distance last start when placing at Canterbury over 1900m. An honest old campaigner, he is worth keeping safe.
SACRED MASTER is another who comes out of a first-up run in the Winter Challenge Stakes. The gelding will have taken benefit from the run and possesses a good second-up record.
SONG AND LAUGHTER chasing back-to-back wins after a Canterbury victory last start. Stays on the minimum and nothing to suggest she won't be in the finish again.
R7 3.40pm CANTERBURY HURLSTONE PARK RSL CLUB SPRING PREVIEW 1400m
OXFORD POET looks the leader and should take some catching. The gelding won the Winter Stakes two back and wasn't far off making all in the Winter Challenge here over 1500m a fortnight ago. While brave in defeat, 1500m probably stretched him and a return to seven furlongs here should prove beneficial. Boasting race experience over a number of main rivals, the gelding can perhaps run them into the ground.
RULING DYNASTY ran a big race at odds-on resuming behind Oxford Poet. He'll strip fitter and there must be a chance of turning the tables. Whilst a highly talented type, he does have a tendency to mix form.
Watch betting and parade rings for COSMIC CUBE, who makes his debut for the Chris Waller stable. His autumn campaign was short but sweet.
ZIN ZAN EDDIE also comes out of the Winter Stakes and Winter Challenge where he hasn't been beaten far. He should be peaking fourth-up although being winless at this track from 11 visits is something of a query.
Another Waller runner in SADLER'S LAKE finished on the placegetters’ heels in the Newcastle Newmarket first-up last time in and worth including in the wider exotics fresh.
SELECTIONS: No4 OXFORD POET, No5 Ruling Dynasty, No2 Cosmic Cube, No7 Zin Zan Eddie
VALUE RUNNER: No7 Zin Zan Eddie
R8 4.20pm CLUBNSW HANDICAP 1100m
KANGARILLA JOY was down to resume at Randwick last Saturday but was scratched because of the Heavy 10 surface. This shapes as a far more suitable contest. Proven first up, at the course and the distance, she ticks all of the right boxes.
SNOOPY could be in for a big campaign this preparation. The son of Lope De Vega ran some big races at Group level last campaign, namely placing in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes behind Mahuta. While he will likely be stepped up in trip from the 1100m on resuming here, best form figures have him hard to beat in this field. It is also worth noting connections elected to geld Snoopy in his latest spell which could assist in creating a more complete racehorse of him.
EL SASSO boasts both experience and fitness over his two above-mentioned rivals. He has returned in good order this campaign and should be kept safe.
HIS MAJESTY is another who, like Snoopy, will appreciate more ground. The grey is capable of sprinting first up though. Watch for him to settle back and work home late.
SELECTIONS: No10 KANGARILLA JOY, No12 Snoopy, No4 El Sasso, No8 His Majesty
VALUE RUNNER: No4 El Sasso
R9 5.00pm MOUNTIES GROUP HANDICAP 1350m
Second emergency DINGHU MOUNTAIN returns from a freshen up here after posting a career best win over this course and distance back in June. He has been kept ticking over with a 900m trial at this course, a method the stable often uses to good effect.
DRAGON FLYER has placed in each of his starts this campaign, the latest when third over this course and distance behind Super Tycoon. He has been making good late ground in each of his starts and possesses a solid third-up record. While something of a non-winner he has value appeal third-up.
EVER SO NATURAL showed good improvement on his first up outing when placing over 1100m at Canterbury three weeks ago. He has won two of his three prior third up outings and stays under notice.
COOLCRAFT was huge on resuming off a generous spell when placing over 1100m at this course a fortnight ago. The gelding would have been in dire need of that outing. With some fitness now under his belt, he warrants strong consideration.
WE'RE SURE was solid at first two runs back and then never clear at Rosehill last start. Should be right at his peak and just needs even luck in-running to be right in the finish.
SELECTIONS: No14 DINGHU MOUNTAIN, No6 Dragon Flyer, No8 Ever So Natural, No11 We’re Sure
VALUE RUNNER: No6 Dragon Flyer
