Rarely has one racetrack been so maligned as Eagle Farm, which is proving a nightmare for punters, trainers, jockeys and owners. The track has been re-laid with a new grass surface and there are sections where the grass hasn't taken properly. It means you will see horses loom up in the straight and basically stop dead because they hit sand patches. But there are still eight winners and we have had some success finding them. The rail is out 7.5 metres, which should make little difference and the track will be shifty at best no matter what the weather.

R1 12.07pm Parents and Friends QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1600m
A tricky race because these horses have been running on different tracks in different conditions.

CAPTAIN'S PICK was a very good winner two starts back, scoring by a huge margin. He then was fourth this track over 1500m last start. He goes up sharply in weight, even with a 3kgs claim but this is a nice race for him.

SOCIAL VAMPIRE scored a runaway win at the Sunshine Coast last start and should have no trouble at 1600m. This is a harder race but should be able to get a nice sit just off the pace and sprint home.

PERSISTENT SHADOW has struggled at her two starts at Eagle Farm. At least she should run out the 1600m after struggling over 2000m last start. Her form on other tracks would have her favourite here but at Eagle Farm who knows?

PERILOUS LOVE has been battling around in handy company and this is easier than his past few. Another who should handle 1600m.

CUSHION PINK is stepping up from 1200m to 1600m in the space of a week. But she did get through the track okay last week and there is a wrap on her.

SELECTIONS: NO1 CAPTAIN'S PICK, NO4 SOCIAL VAMPIRE, NO3 PERSISTENT SHADOW, NO10 PERILOUS LOVE.
VALUE RUNNER: NO2 CUSHION PINK.

HIDDEN PEARL is a very smart horse who romped in last start after a nine-month injury-enforced absence. She faces a major task here with a big weight and bad barrier. But she loved Eagle Farm with her last win and she is too good to bet against.

IRISH CONSTABULARY has been racing for a while but he is nicely placed here at the distance and weights. Looks to be the main danger.

ABRACADASH has won three midweek races since resuming from injury. She is speedy and gets in well at the weights thanks to Hidden Pearl being in the field. The big worry is she might not be able to lead.

MORNING FOG is racing very well this campaign but her best form is on wet tracks. She is having her first start at Eagle Farm and should handle it.

TIBROGARGAN MISS is very fast and should she get an easy lead would be hard to beat but that looks doubtful here. Still will be value odds.

SELECTIONS: NO1 HIDDEN PEARL, NO3 IRISH CONSTABULARY, NO4 ABRACADASH, NO6 MORNING FOG.
VALUE RUNNER: NO2 TIBROGARGAN MISS.
SENTIMENTAL PRINCE has a funny racing action but he can gallop. He has won his past two starts in easier races and steps up to Saturday racing to get weight relief. Failed at his only start on this track but it was a bog that day.

DENONINATOR has been honest this campaign and again won last start over 1800m. He has won at 2200m and this type of race suits.

SPRINGBOK FLYER has handy Sydney form and looks better than these but has a big weight which will bring him back to the field.

ANNAMAN has been good in better races at his past two starts. Just a little question mark on him at 2200m but does handle wet tracks. He is one who should be up on the pace in this class.

TOUCH OF BELLA is getting fitter and her past two efforts are much better than they look on paper. She is a definite value hope.

SELECTIONS: NO6 SENTIMENTAL PRINCE, NO2 DENONINATOR, NO1 SPRINGBOK FLYER, NO4 ANNAMAN.
VALUE RUNNER: NO8 TOUCH OF BELLA.
R4 1.52pm Chemist Warehouse Open Handicap 1600m
A hard race to line up because a couple of the better performed horses have gone poorly on this track of late. On their best form they would nearly win but hard to recommend at Eagle Farm.

BECKHAM has not run a bad race on this track and he might be able to lead and dictate the pace here. He can also take a sit and being from a wide barrier has been no disadvantage with regards to winning at this track of late.

TERONADO hasn't won in two years but both his runs on the "new Eagle Farm" have been full of merit. He is probably better at 1800m but this isn't the strongest of races.

JETSET LAD has been placed his past two starts at this track. He is a Group Two winner and a stakes winner at 1600m. Not getting any younger but an obvious chance here.

LA SPIAGGIA came from well back when second in an easier race here last time. At least he is a horse on the up and in form.

SPURTONIC won the Group Three Coongy Hcp as a younger horse and also was fourth in an Epsom Hcp. He has a senior rider again here and on his old form would win by lengths but has been struggling. Might be ready to run well at odds.

SELECTIONS: NO4 BECKHAM, NO5 TERONADO, NO2 JETSET LAD, NO8 LA SPIAGGIA.
VALUE RUNNER: NO3 SPURTONIC.
R5 2.32pm Mirvac Ascot Green Benchmark 80 Handicap 1400m
MOST IMPORTANT has been racing well without any luck. This is the easiest race he has contested of late and should be able to lead/dictate the pace here.

WHERE’S THATDRAGON was well beaten last start in open company but she was an impressive winner on a wet track at previous start here. Has her share of weight even with a 2kgs claim but was so impressive last time has to be a chance back in this class.

MONSTER OF ENERGY is very consistent and is surely near another win. He will probably need some luck but is overdue.

UMGENI won three races in a row and then had little luck at his next two when fourth both times. The words little luck are an understatement as he had none. The key here is that a senior rider has been booked for him.

MOON AND THE STARS never ran a place on the old Eagle Farm but his form has been handy on some of the other bigger tracks such as the Sunshine Coast. If he handles the track he is the value hope.

SELECTIONS: NO3 MOST IMPORTANT, NO1 WHERE’S THATDRAGON, NO9 MONSTER OF ENERGY, NO5 UMGENI.
VALUE RUNNER: NO10 MOON AND THE STARS.
R6 3.12pm Northside Women’s Health Open Handicap 1200m
INTO THE RED is the class runner here who looks well placed in this race after the 3kgs claim. He has been holding his form very well and meets his main rival THE MONSTAR much better at the weights. It should be enough to turn around the result from last time when THE MONSTAR won.

THE MONSTAR looks the obvious danger as he has been most consistent since coming north. Jockey Skye Bogenhuber seems to get the best out of him and he should be treated with respect.

DREAM CHOICE is always a chance in this type of race. He showed last start when third that he can handle this track. Has a wide barrier but that can be an advantage here.

EXECUTED has the outside barrier but again that should be no disadvantage. He has been racing well in country areas and won the Lightning Stakes at Doomben in May. He might even lead here but can take a sit.

KUDERO has plenty of ability and also plenty of tricks. He is first-up here and usually takes a few runs to reach his peak but this isn't overly hard.

SELECTIONS: NO1 INTO THE RED, NO2 THE MONSTAR, NO4 DREAM CHOICE, NO 3 EXECUTED.
VALUE RUNNER: NO7 KUDERO.
R7 3.52pm Programmed Property Services One Metro Win Handicap 1200m
SKYLIMIT has found a new lease of life since he has been ridden back in the field. He is showing a heap more fight and he has shown he can handle Eagle Farm.

SHARPE HUSSLER should be fitter for his two runs back from a spell. This is a step up in class but he does show plenty of ability and is right down in the weights here.

TRUE ROYAL was very strong first-up when a winner. He can race on the pace which means he can use the inside barrier. Has never run on the new Eagle Farm so that is the question mark.

FIRE WITHIN has found his old form which is very good on its day. Probably should have won last start against a lot of this field and at this track.

LEGENDARY LUKE has always shown a lot of potential. He has won first-up and trialled nicely of late. Probably better at slightly longer trips but he does look the value horse here.

SELECTIONS: NO2 SKYLIMIT, NO13 SHARPE HUSSLER, NO5 TRUE ROYAL, NO8 FIRE WITHIN.
VALUE RUNNER: NO9 LEGENDARY LUKE.

TIME TO TORQUE has been running in far harder races than this and has not been disgraced. Back sharply in class and has a claim, so right in this.

KEEP ON ROCKING has been racing very well this campaign and a good winner this track last start. He again has a 3kgs claim and isn't that badly off at the weights.

MARTIAL ART has been racing okay in similar company to this. But he did trial very well lately and might be ready to win a race like this. He will just need a few things to go his way in the straight.

SAN TELMO looks a future good stayer but is showing some turn of foot in shorter races this campaign. Good winner last start and the handicapper hasn't caught up with him just yet. Provided there is early pace here he should be hard to beat.

AMERICAN DIVA took 11 starts to win her first race but has now won past two starts. The key seems to be the decision to ride her from well back in the field. Provided back markers can get home she looks the value hope.

SELECTIONS: NO4 TIME TO TORQUE, NO1 KEEP ON ROCKING, NO6 MARTIAL ART, NO9 SAN TELMO.

VALUE RUNNER: NO12 AMERICAN DIVA.
