The cold and wet weather returns to dampen the start to spring with low maximum temperatures and showers forecast for the return to racing at Bendigo.

The rail will be at the true position and the track is rated as a Soft 7 and could deteriorate.

ERAMOSA has been knocking on the door and can break through here after a solid third over 1600m at Sandown on August 24. Newly graduated jockey Harry Coffey keeps the ride at 58.5kg and if he handles the wet can win.

ZAPPING was doing his best work at the finish when racing first-up over 1200m to finish sixth at Mildura on July 7. He is by noted staying sire Shocking and will relish this trip and has senior rider Luke Currie on board.

CHARLIE CHEVAL made a great start to his racing career when finishing strongly to land third place over 1300m at Cranbourne on August 28. In-form jockey Chris Parnham keeps the ride and he has a superior draw in nine.

MISSILE BOOM is now rock hard and was working well towards the winning post when finishing fourth over 1400m at Geelong on September 4. Drops 2kg to 56kg and the extra 100m appears to suit.

PLUTO has been gelded since his disappointing debut when finishing 10th at $6.50 over 1100m at Caulfield on March 26. He is a well-bred three-year-old with plenty of upside and stable jockey Craig Newitt rides.

STEEL OF MADRID will be improved leaps and bounds on his debut third over 1000m at Pakenham on August 23. Fought hard but was outsprinted over the last 100m. Steven Arnold keeps the ride and he drops 2kg to 56kg.

RED HOT ROMEO has returned from a 35-day break in good stead with two solid efforts to run second over 1005m at his past two starts in the provincials. Georgina Cartwright’s 3kg claim will see him carry 55.5kg.

STREETS OF DUBAI is a well-bred three-year-old colt who was backed into equal favouritism at $3.20 at debut when running sixth over 1100m at Pakenham on May 12. Top jockey Damian Lane rides. Expect a forward showing.

INTO ORBIT (NEXT BEST BET) was super-impressive at debut when the colt smashed his rivals by 4 ½ lengths over 1100m at Pakenham on August 23. He is a son of leading sire Northern Meteor and will appreciate the step up in distance here. Again has one of Victoria’s best jockeys Dwayne Dunn to steer.

ANGEL’S TOUCH (BEST BET) is flying high and the step up in distance should prove no obstacle. She hails from the record-breaking yard of trainer Darren Weir and stable jockey Brad Rawiller replaces apprentice Michael Dee, who rode her to an imposing win over 2060m as a $2.30 favourite at Cranbourne on August 28. She is down a kilo to 57.5kg here.

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER plummets in class, but shoots up in weight to 60kg on her last start when a fighting fourth when backed from $10 into $8 to Catch A Fire over 1200m at Moonee Valley on August 20. Will lack nothing in horsemanship with Damian Lane as the new rider.

KALIDAZ was a big winner first-up when she fought hard to claw her way to a narrow victory over 1200m at Sale on August 18. Damien Oliver stays on deck, but she does go up 2.5kg to 58.5kg.

LAKE COMO was held up a crucial point before finishing a close fourth over 1400m at Caulfield on August 27. Up to 58.5kg from 54kg for her drop down in class, but a top chance.

WUTAI MOUNTAIN has had a fantastic start to her Victorian career winning second up over 1300m in this class at Sandown on August 31. Ben Melham keeps the ride and has a good chance.

PAY UP BRO fought hard before edging away inside the final 200m to score a good second-up win over 1400m at Sandown on August 31. Apprentice Jordan Childs keeps the ride but cannot use his claim and will carry his listed weight on 56.5kg.

TEMPERED wound up for a good finish but was outsprinted when running second over 1300m at Geelong on August 26. Was backed from $11 into $8 and will have the services of Damian Lane again in a good race here.

RECALCULATE was racing second-up when ran into second place over 1200m at Cranbourne on August 28. Has top jockey Damien Oliver as the new rider and drops down to a mere 56.5kg. Rates highly.

GRANDE ROSSO charged home first-up to finish fifth over 1200m at Caulfield on August 27. Luke Currie is the new rider and he carries the same weight on 57kg in an easier race. Won’t be at $20 like last time though.

KEVIN’S TIME returned off a 21-day break to fight hard out wide before finishing sixth over 1800m at Sandown on August 31. Goes up to 59kg but has stable rider Brad Rawiller replacing apprentice Michael Dee.

INTO THE WIND was in a sweeping finish with several other runners when running third over 1590m at Wodonga on August 29. Won at Wangaratta start before and has claims.

LOVEHEART LASS will be improved on last start when running seventh to Pay Up Bro over 1400m at Sandown on August 31. In-form jockey Mark Zahra is the new hoop and respect.

TIAMO GRACE is a well-bred filly from the Darren Weir camp. She was a $2.80 favourite when winning at her second start over 1354m at Donald. Has top country rider Dean Yendall to pilot.

DANUKI has a great first-up record of four starts for a win and two placings. Was a warm $2.60 favourite when running ninth at Morphettville on August 13. Freshened for this and Nicholas Hall is the new rider.

LEVITICAL (ROUGHIE) came back off a break in flying colours to pull away to a smart win over 1000m at Cranbourne on August 28. Drops a kilo to 58kg and Patrick Maloney stays on board.

DALRADIAN had no luck first-up but kept on working towards the line to run fourth over 1000m at Sandown on August 31. Stable No 1 rider Brad Rawiller is the new rider and drops 3kg to 57.5kg.

WHITE HOUSE LADY chased very hard until peaking at the 100m in a fillies and mares’ handicap over 1300m at Sandown on August 31. In-form jockey Chris Parnham rides at 56kg.
