Doomben is backing up from last Saturday where it played very fairly and the times were nothing short of sensational. It shouldn't be much different for this meeting with the rail out five metres and the forecast for light showers.

R1 12.18pm WWW.BRC.COM.AU MAIDEN HANDICAP 1630m
MEADOW is lightly raced but caught the eye with her last-start fourth. It was only her second race start and she looks hard to beat here despite three weeks between runs.
SHARP SPEEDO didn't have much luck when well beaten last time but previously was placed this track and the 1600m should suit.
GRAN SABANA has run seven seconds and been runner-up four times at last four starts. He is a non-winner but must go in the exotics.
RAUCOUS was much better last time at Ipswich and looks suited at 1600m.
SELECTIONS: NO 7 MEADOW, NO 9 SHARP SPEEDO, NO 2 GRAN SABANA, NO 4 RAUCOUS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 RAUCOUS.
R2 12.53pm CANADIAN CLUB MELBOURNE CUP DAY BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1630m
EXTRASAY has been racing very well and won his past two starts. She is two wins from two starts at the distance and looks very hard to beat here.
GO ON RED trialled very well before winning at Doomben two starts back and then didn't have much lick when well beaten at Eagle Farm. Back to Doomben is the key for him.
FUSINA can be hard to catch but is suited at the distance and in the small field.
WOW FACTOR was good at Toowoomba at this distance last start and looks the value hope.
SELECTIONS: NO 4 EXTRASAY, NO 3 GO ON RED, NO 1 FUSINA, NO 6 WOW FACTOR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 WOW FACTOR.
R3 1.28pm SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
ARROGANT BOY was a consistent placegetter before a spell and trialled well before handy first-up run. Has his share of weight but does usually go better as his campaign gets longer.
ABSTAIN has been placed at six of her seven starts and never seems to get much luck. Overdue for a win.
LEGS UNBARRED has been racing well and is another near a win. She won a trial at Deagon last week, which should overcome the month between runs.
SONADOR CELLAR has been racing well in the northern rivers and another chance in a hard race.
HIGH SPECS is beautifully bred and would be a hope here but at the time of writing there is some chance she won't start.
SELECTIONS: NO 1 ARROGANT BOY, NO 7 ABSTAIN, NO 10 LEGS UNBARRED, NO 5 SONADOR CELLAR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 LEGS UNBARRED.
R4 2.03pm VEUVE SOCIETY QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
We are always reluctant to make a special in a maiden and especially in a three-year-old maiden. However, FALKIRK DRIVE (Next Best Bet) only has to live up to his first run when fourth in a much harder three-year-old open handicap to be a top chance here. He had three trials overall before his first start and has the inside draw here with champion jockey Damian Browne to ride. There will be a few others backed here so we should get a good price and even bet each-way.
SELECTIONS: NO 5 FALKIRK DRIVE, NO 12 HEART OF AUSTRALIA, NO 13 LIPSTICK LOVER, NO 4 EXCALIBRATOR.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 EXCALIBRATOR.
R5 2.38pm GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m
ABRACADASH won well in similar company to this before being well beaten behind star mare Hidden Pearl back in August. She has a 3kgs claim here and, provided the track isn't too hard, will be very tough to beat.
MAN OF DISTINCTION is bred to win a Stradbroke Handicap and his form in Sydney and country NSW is good enough to win this. He won a trial at Deagon recently in impressive fashion.
FOUR EXCEL is honest and if things fall his way he can win.
TIBROGARGAN MISS is very fast but would want an easy lead to win this.
SELECTIONS: NO2 ABRACADASH, NO 3 MAN OF DISTINCTION, NO 8 FOUR EXCEL, NO 1 TIBROGARGAN MISS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 FOUR EXCEL
R6 3.15pm CHRISTMAS FUNCTIONS @ BRC CLASS 3 PLATE 1350m
THE LAST KISS (Best Bet) looks very well placed at the weights under the Plate scale. Has always shown a ton of ability and was one of the favourites for the last Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic but went amiss and didn't start. First-up was a good fifth in a race run at a crawl and then was too good last time at the Sunshine Coast. She has won this track and suited at this distance.
SELECTIONS: NO 10 THE LAST KISS, NO 1 DEITCH, NO 2 EMPHASIS, NO 5 RED BOHEMIA.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 RED BOHEMIA.
R7 3.55pm XXXX SUMMER CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1350m
A very even race with all runners having at least an each-way chance.
BIG DECISION has had plenty of chances but from the inside barrier with the leading jockey in Jeff Lloyd has strong claims.
His stablemate BROTHERLY SECRET failed badly last start but on his previous second in better company at this track is also a strong hope with a claim and handy barrier.
MAKEADANE was strong in his only start this area for an Ipswich win, which followed a good trial.
BEAUMARIS (Best Roughie) is usually about the place in these type of races and just needs some luck from the wide barrier.
SELECTIONS: NO 5 BIG DECISION, NO 1 BROTHERLY SECRET, NO 2 MAKEADANE, NO 8 BEAUMARIS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO8 BEAUMARIS.
R8 4.35pm HAMILTON HOTEL CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1630m
ONE MANSINI has been consistent of late in similar type races to this. She is drawn to get the run of the race.
WICKED TRILOGY beat One Mansini last start and looks among the best hopes again despite a difficult barrier.
YOURS TRUTHFULLY was racing well on country tracks before winning at big odds at the Sunshine Coast. The trainer never comes to the city unless his horses have a hope.
NELUMBO was a good maiden winner last time at only his third start and the distance here suits.
SELECTIONS: NO 5 ONE MANSINI, NO 6 WICKED TRILOGY, NO 9 YOURS TRUTHFULLY, NO 4 NELUMBO.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 YOURS TRUTHFULLY.
