DONCELLA is a lightly raced daughter of High Chaparral who looks to be at her right distance here. She ran a solid eighth over 1500m at Moonee Valley last start on September 23. Group 1 winning jockey Damian Lane replaced apprentice Ben Allen and would respect. RIYADH is a rock hard stayer who will be better suited here after his sound fifth over 1500m at Moonee Valley on September 23. He has been up for some time and he did win over 2025m at Cranbourne three starts ago. Senior rider Brian Higgins goes on here. MACONSILIA was warmed up for his rise in distance with a solid fourth over 1950m at Morphettville on September 24. With the 3kg claim of apprentice Stephen Brown, he will carry 58kg and at his fourth run back is fit now for this. MR PAGO was backed from $9 into $5 before finishing a close third over 1500m at Mornington at his last start on September 28. With the 2kg claim of apprentice Jack Martin, he will carry 56kg but has a wide alley in (12). Ready for this and is worth each-way thought. SELECTIONS: No8 DONCELLA, No5 Riyadh, No1 Maconsilia, No6 Mr Pago. VALUE RUNNER: No1 Maconsilia.
R7 4pm THE NEXTRA MOE CUP 2050m
RAW IMPULSE (Best Bet) is rock hard and ready for this. He plummets in class after being stepped up to the elite class when running ninth to Cox Plate leading fancy Hartnell in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 2. He will lack nothing in horsemanship with top jockey Luke Nolen replacing Craig Williams and with 55kg on his back this British import will be charging home at a strong rate of knots to give trainer Darren Weir another Cup. SELECTIONS: No4 RAW IMPULSE, No6 Blizzard, No12 Sly Romance, No16 The Bandit. VALUE RUNNER: No16 The Bandit.

KABUKI has the perfect record of one start for one win. He kicked off his career in style to win over 1400m in a maiden at Pakenham on September 30. Jockey Andrew Mallyon did not spend a penny and his punters who took the $2.45 were happy. From gate (6) – he jumped from (10) last start – he should get a cosy run here. FORTHEFUNOFIT had to cross from gate (10) when he fought hard but peaked on the line to finish third over 1750m at Geelong on September 25. He was steady in the betting at $6.50 and should again be fancied here. He again carries 61kg but has a superior draw (2). SCHOPENHAUER has been brought from NSW for this assault. He won well at Musswellbrook last start on a rain-affected track over 1500m on September 23. Leading Melbourne jockey Brad Rawiller picks up the reins and he carries 60kg here, which is 2.5kg more than he did to win. LAUNDERED gets relief here with a drop in class on his first-up effort where he ran seventh to Bullish Stock over 1500m at Mornington on September 28. Craig Robertson is the new rider replacing Stephen Baster and he goes up 2.5kg to 60kg, but this is much easier. SELECTIONS: No13 KABUKI, No1 Forthefunofit, No4 Schopenhauer, No3 Laundered. VALUE RUNNER: No4 Schopenhauer.
R9 5.10pm CARLTON PALE ALE BM78 HANDICAP 1200m
LORD BARRINGTON (Next Best Bet) looks set for a good win here at some odds. He simply loves the wet and the wetter it gets the better he will go. He has the 3kg claim of apprentice Stephen Brown to alleviate his big impost on 61kg down to 58kg. He gave a tough effort to battle on for eighth placing over 1200m to the flying winner Chase The Horizon at Caulfield on September 17. His form has been impeccable and with a Heavy 8 predicted gets the track he loves. SELECTIONS: No1 LORD BARRINGTON, No8 Grand Emperor, No9 Kalashani Lad, No2 Camdus. VALUE RUNNER: No9 Kalashani Lad.
