Race 1 1.29pm NEWCASTLE COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 2200m
No 2 THE GAVEL (Best Bet) showed plenty of consistency placing in five of his first six starts before winning last start at Kembla. The four-year-old gelding by Al Maher should have gained plenty of confidence from that performance and can make it back-to-back victories.

DUKE'S CALL was only narrowly beaten last start when resuming from a 565-day drought. With that run under his belt and from barrier (3), he gets his chance to return back to the winners’ circle.
DEMILUNE finished second at Newcastle in her only run last preparation. She has trialled fairly since and has to be respected fresh with only 54.5kg.
EMOCLEW has improved with each run so far in his career. He was only narrowly beaten last start and this looks a winnable option again.
ASSERTIN MISCHIEF worked home well first-up. She’ll be better for the run and should appreciate the increase in distance.
SELECTIONS: No3 DUKE’S Call, No10 Demilune, No9 Emoclew, No6 Assertin Mischief.
Race 6 4.34pm MCDONALDS NEWCASTLE 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1250m
LAWAN (Next Best Bet) finished fourth in his only run last preparation. He has since trialed twice, winning one of those on a soft track. Being by Lonhro, the rain affected track will not be a concern.
SELECTIONS: NO2 LAWAN, No9 Lucienne, No1 Full Throttle, No8 Fortunately.
MOMENT OF MUSIC (Best Roughie) was very disappointing last start, finishing last at Warwick Farm over 1200m. She’s much better than that and does have a good record on a soft track.
RAIJINZ had been racing well and was rewarded with a nice win last start at Kembla. If he brings the same form, he’ll go close again.
RADICAL IMPACT impressed last start, winning at the track and distance. This is a harder assignment, but he’ll appreciate the conditions.
HE'S OUR TOY BOY has only won three races from thirty-one attempts, but his second last start at the track and distance indicated that he’s not too far away.
SELECTIONS: No7 MOMENT OF MUSIC, No2 Raijinz, No8 Radical Impact, No6 He’s Our Toy Boy.
Race 8 5.49pm MARTIN BROWER F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
INVOLVING finished third at Gosford first-up. With 2kg off her back here, this mare by Sebring will be better for the run and should be hard to beat over 1200m.
BEL SELENE is first-up here after two recent trials, winning her last one on a soft track. She’s never finished outside of the top three at the distance and should go close again.
BLUE BLUE SKY is another coming into this race with good form. This will be her first run at the track, but her recent form lines should hold up.
MANHATTAN CHIC was well beaten first-up, but has won second-up before. She’d need to be at her best though to win this.
SELECTIONS: NO1 INVOLVING, No2 Bel Selene, No3 Blue Blue Sky, No4 Manhattan Chic
