Race 1 6:45pm LE WRAP HANDICAP 1100m

MADE IN CHINA has trialled impressively leading into this. His last trial over 1050m was in a slick time and he wasn’t at all knocked about.

PELORUS JACK will take benefit from the run to learn some race sense, but his trials have been good and he looks like he can run.

DREAM RETURN on debut has trialled well at “home” (WFarm) on a few occasions and looks to have found a nice race to kick off here.

FREE SKY has had two trials leading into this and looks to be next best.

SELECTIONS: No 4 MADE IN CHINA, No 2 Pelorus Jack, No 1 Dream Return, No 3 Free Sky.

VALUE RUNNER: No 2 Pelorus Jack.

Race 2 7:15pm CATEREZ HANDICAP 1550m

POLEMIC (BEST ROUGHIE) should be rock hard fit third-up to the 1550m here. He was lacking that fitness last start.

RAISE AN ARMY looks to get a cosy run on the map here. Collett will take all the shortcuts and give him his chance.

BETCHA THINKING comes out of that same race, but had a better run in transit and I worry if he wants to win.

METEOR RAIN should take up the speed here and should prove hard to run down.

SELECTIONS: No 5 POLEMIC, No 2 Raise An Army, No 6 Betcha Thinking, No 1 Meteor Rain.

VALUE RUNNER: No 5 Polemic.

RILLITO comes up as the BEST BET of the day here. She has won her last three and won a strong race last start, which should stack up well here. Clark aboard is no issue as the man is currently flying and is giving everything he has. She has won her only second-up run and should take a stack of improvement from that first-up run.

SELECTIONS: No 3 RILLITO, No 4 Nudierudie, No 2 Untamed Diamond, No 6 Donelle.

VALUE RUNNER: No 4 Nudierudie.

GAME PIE comes out of what is a hot race last start. He has had three weeks between runs to stay fresh and if he’s close enough he will be in the finish. NO RETURN should have taken a lot of fitness from the first-up run where he managed to win. He stays at the 1550m here and I expect him to make it a staying test from the 600m.

ROSALEISHA drops in grade here and didn’t have much luck at Caulfield last start. The 1550m suits her better than the 2000m as well.

SKILLFUL has been good at winning his last two. This is a logical step here and he will be there or thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: No 3 GAME PIE, No 5 No Return, No 7 Rosaleisha, No 6 Skillful.

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 Game Pie.

Race 5 8:45pm SCHWEPPES EVENING STAR 1250m

SELITA (NEXT BEST BET) had to do a stack of work first-up and was found wanting late when run over by Rillito. She should take a hell of a lot of improvement from that and getting out to the 1250m suits better than the 1100m. She has a good second-up record and was winning better races than this last preparation.

SELECTIONS: No 2 SELITA, No 1 Grunderzeit, No 11 Make A Mark, No 6 Mr Entertainer.

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Grunderzeit.

ALLISION on the quick back up here is interesting. Back to the 1900m suits as she was coming through some good enough races and with Clark aboard I’m leaning her way.

ESTIKHRAAJ should be ready to go third-up here. He just lacked fitness second-up at the 1900m last time and gets a chance to break through here.

BERETTA comes out of some nice races. Blinkers off is an interesting gear change and he has a chance.

TRIANTAN got the job done well last start. He is out to his preferred distance range here and can win again.

SELECTIONS: No 6 ALLISION, No 9 Estikhraaj, No 1 Beretta, No 4 Triantan.

VALUE RUNNER: No 6 Allision.

REALISE POTENTIAL comes out of a good race first-up where he found the 1000m too short. Second-up out to 1250m suits and the weight won’t bother him as he’s a big strapping horse.

RED EXTENSION took on some really good races at the end of his last preparation and has found a good race to kick off here.

HOGMANAY trialled well leading into a first-up run here. He drops in grade from his last few and will find the dry track more conducive.

HIT THE FLOOR was a strong winner first-up at Newcastle and can go on with it here.

DEMOLITION was a dominant winner first-up. Clark and O’Shea team up again and have been firing as of late.

SELECTIONS: No 4 REALISE POTENTIAL, No 2 Red Extension, No 3 Hogmanay, No 6 Hit The Floor, No 9 Demolition.

VALUE RUNNER: No 4 Realise Potential.
