VALLIANO can mix his form a bit but he is a young horse who gets his chance here with top jockey Mark Zahra riding. He ran a luckless 13th in the Hilton Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on November 5 and can improve.

ATLANTIC EXPRESS (BEST ROUGHIE) has shown enough promise with a win and a third at three starts to give thought. He broke the ice with a smart maiden win over 1100m at Traralgon on October 29 when he was plunged from $7 into $4.50.

CHAPEL ROAD held hard to claim a narrow but strong win over 1100m at Ararat on November 6. With apprentice Beau Mertens’ 3kg claim he comes in here on good weight terms on 57kg and drawn gate (5) will again be prominent in this field.

JUST GOT LUCKY comes here off a brilliant win when plunged from $7 into $4.20 over 1200m on October 28. He has leading apprentice Ben Thompson to ride and his 2kg claim reduces his weight to 57.5kg. He has a great draw in gate (2) and expect a bold showing.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 Just Got Lucky.

SPEEDEOR claimed his second win from three starts when he ran away to a 1 ¼ length win over 1000m at Flemington on November 1. Luke Nolen keeps the ride for leading trainer Darren Weir and hard to beat here.

SECRET AGENDA is perfectly drawn on the rail to be up on the speed. He can improve on his last-start seventh over 1200m at Flemington on November 1. Noel Callow replaces Damien Oliver on this gelding.

LIBERTY SONG won’t be at $101 this time after his strong fifth to Speedeor down the straight 1000m at Flemington on November 1. He looms as a good chance on that effort with Patrick Maloney to keep the ride.

VALUE TIP: No7 Liberty Song.

TURNITAROUND won the Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Sandown last Saturday in good style. He gets top Sydney hoop Blake Shinn replacing college Hugh Bowman but he does rise 1.5kg to 60kg here in the Cup. He is also drawn in (13).

TAIYOO is part of a strong arsenal assembled by trainer Darren Weir for his assault on this Cup. He carried 60kg to win the Kyneton Cup (2000m) at his last start on November 2. Drops 1.5kg to 58.5kg here and makes appeal.

AUVRAY is another out of the Weir camp. He can improve on his eighth to Turnitaround in last Saturday’s Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Sandown. Harry Coffey rides and the French stayer will relish the extra distance.

SELECTIONS: No2 LIDARI, No1 Turnitaround, No4 Taiyoo, No6 Auvray.
