Race 1 1:45pm TAB REWARDS HANDICAP 1550m
YEAH BRAVO (NEXT BEST) comes out of a better race than this last start. The late sectionals for the day were quite slick and he came from behind them that day, gaining ground on the winner late on. The step up to 1550m looks ideal here and from barrier (1) Bowman should have him in a great spot in the run.
SELECTIONS: No 2 YEAH BRAVO, No 1 Silent Warrior, No 5 Egg Tart, No 4 Hot Money.
VALUE RUNNER: No 4 Hot Money.
Race 2 2:20pm SCHWEPPES PLATE 1200m
EL VENETIAN (BEST BET) has trialled quite imposingly both times leading into this first-up run. He hasn’t been asked to do a whole lot in those trials, but has looked very stylish in both trials. Love the 1045m trial coming into this as he should have a better fitness base for this. The form around his first preparation is legitimate Group form and he should be winning this.
SELECTIONS: No 2 EL VENETIAN, No 4 France, No 5 Harper’s Choice, No 8 Thaad.
VALUE RUNNER: No 5 Harper’s Choice.
Race 3 2:55pm TAB PLATE 1200m
IMPROVEMENT comes out of what looks to be a good race on debut. They ran a fast time there and this filly hit the line well. With natural improvement she will be hard to beat.
GRACIOUS GREY has trialled well leading into her first-up run here. Her two runs to date have been plain, but into her third racing prep she looks as if she has improved.
LIGHTNING NIC should get a good run from the inside barrier here. She has trialled well recently and with the benefit of the rail on debut she has a chance.
OKLAHOMA GIRL comes into this on the back of two trials. Her first preparation runs were quite good. With natural improvement she has a chance.
SELECTIONS: No 2 IMPROVEMENT, No 1 Gracious Grey, No 3 Lightning Nic, No 6 Oklahoma Girl.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Gracious Grey.
Race 4 3:35pm #THERACES HANDICAP 1900m
DEPENDABLE follows a tried and true method that Cummings has used with great success: a month off and a trial between runs. The form around him is very good and he is clearly the one to beat.
BELLA GALEANO gets a good jockey change here and should be suited by the step up to 1900m. From gate (2) Bowman should be more forward here and should be hard to beat.
RYE‘s run two starts back at Randwick behind Sweet Redemption was quite good. She has had that one start at 1900m now, which gives her good grounding for this.
DIAMBRA was just touched off in a small field last start. She has always looked as if 1900m would suit her and she gets that here.
SELECTIONS: No4 DEPENDABLE, No 6 Bella Galeano, No 2 Rye, No 8 Diambra
VALUE RUNNER: No 2 Rye.
Race 5 4:10pm RANVET'S NEUTROLENE HANDICAP 1100m
SUGAR BAY LEONARD was quite good the other day behind Firsthand. He settled a little too close in the run for my liking. From barrier (6) Bowman will have him outside of horses, which he seems to prefer. He will be hard to beat.
I’M USAIN hit the line quite well last start at Warwick Farm in a slick time. After the claim down to 56.5kgs he has a chance.
WORLDLY IMPACT comes out of that race behind Sugar Bay Leonard last start. He hit the line quite well and I’m inclined to follow that form.
FLY FORWARD finished off well at Warwick Farm. That race was run in fast time and he hit the line powerfully. A previous winner over 1100m and has to be given a chance.
SELECTIONS: No 4 SUGAR BAY LEONARD, No 3 I’m Usain, No 5 Worldly Impact, No 6 Fly Forward.
VALUE RUNNER: No 5 Worldly Impact.
Race 6 4:45pm TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP 1250m
KINSHACHI resumes off the back of two trials where she hasn’t been asked to do a lot. The form around her last preparation was fantastic and she looks ready to resume a winner.
NAVUA MIST (BEST ROUGHIE) on the quick back up from Friday night here is a chance. She hit the line quite well in a race that wasn’t run to suit and from the better barrier (1) she has a chance.
QUEEN MISTY has had a trial between runs and has been freshened for a month. The last start run was good and with Clark on board you couldn’t ask for a better jockey.
INFINITE LOVE has trialled well leading into this. She is a winner first-up in the past and off the two trials, that wouldn’t surprise.
SELECTIONS: No 3 KINSHACHI, No 6 Navua Mist, No 2 Queen Misty, No 5 Infinite Love.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 Navua Mist.
Race 7 5:25pm PLUCK@VINERY HANDICAP 1550m
MIAMI DADE gets James Doyle here for his first ride at Canterbury as Godolphin's No.1 rider replacing McDonald. This horse gets the blinkers off and has been good at his past few. If Doyle can navigate his way around here, he has a chance.
KINGSGUARD finally gets the blinkers on here and he has looked as if he would need them for a long while. He has hurt the punters previously given his SPs but he gets those blinkers finally and should be hard to beat.
AUSTIN won well first-up and gets to a more suitable distance of 1550m here. Roche rode him well that day and is rewarded with a midweek ride. He has a chance.
VIA NAPOLI closed well first-up in what looked a good race behind Realise Potential. She won at her only other second-up run and she should come on well from that first-up run.
SELECTIONS: No 1 MIAMI DADE, No 11 Kingsguard, No 9 Austin, No 7 Via Napoli.
VALUE RUNNER: No 9 Austin.
