The third meeting at the Sunshine Coast in the past five days. Luckily, it is a big track, and with the rail back in the true position it should play even right across the track. If there is any more rain, though, the place to be will be five horses off the fence out on the ridge which runs down the centre of the course.
BEST BET: RACE 8, NO 2 OBERLAND.
NEXT BEST BET: RACE 1, NO 1 SHELTER LADY.
BEST ROUGHIE: RACE 12, NO 10 MARGO MAREE.
R1 1.40pm COASTLINE BMW FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m
SHELTER LADY (NEXT BEST BET) should start the day off for us on a winning note. She has won her past two starts on this track and has only missed the place twice in nine starts at the Sunshine Coast. She gets into this race very well with a 3kgs claim for the apprentice who rides her for all of her track work. There looks to be plenty of early pace here and she should get the run of the race with cover.
SELECTIONS: NO 1 SHELTER LADY, NO 4 LIGHT SHOWS, NO 2 HIDDEN ROSE, NO 5 OCEANTES.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 OCEANTES.
R2 2.15pm YALUMBA COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
WONDERFUL TALE gets his chance to win here after running minor placings at his past four starts. He is very well weighted after a 3kgs claim.
KNOWING FRANK was a good winner last start in easier company, while PLAN RED is handy but probably wants further.
DEEKS is ready to get into the prize money here.
SELECTIONS: NO 6 WONDERFUL TALE, NO 1 KNOWING FRANK, NO 2 PLAN RED, NO 4 DEEKS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 DEEKS.
R3 2.50pm XXXX CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400m
Tricky race because all six acceptors have a chance.
BACHELOR HEIR has been getting near a win while ADHERE won when leading last start and over raced. Looks the pace here again.
GAME OF FAME once ran in a Victoria Oaks and is fitter for first-up run. AIR FORCE ONE is much better than last start failure.
SELECTIONS: NO 3 BACHELOR HEIR, NO 1 ADHERE, NO 5 GAME OF FAME, NO 2 AIR FORCE ONE.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 GAME OF FAME.
R4 3.25pm ANMEL CHERRYPICKER HIRE MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
ORDER AGAIN looks too good for this field on his two runs to date. A good second last start and he probably should have won.
THE AMATEUR showed ability in trials in Sydney and NSW form solid enough for this.
BIDZIIL has ability but has had a lot of injury problems. SICARIO was handy last start and not without each way claims.
SELECTIONS: NO 5 ORDER AGAIN, NO 4 THE AMATEUR, NO 1 BIDZIIL, NO 6 SICARIO.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 1 BIDZIIL.
R5 4.O5pm CMBM FACILITY SERVICES PTY LTD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
OF THE DAY looks too smart for this on exposed form.
TAKES TIME is from a broodmare who has produced a stack of first-up winners but no trial. Did jump out okay, or so we are told.
LINLITHGOW won a trial at the Gold Coast in good fashion and stable produces many first-up winners.
SECRET BOND no trial for it but from top stable and nicely bred.
SELECTIONS: NO 7 OF THE DAY, NO 1 TAKES TIME, NO 8 LINLITHGOW, NO 9 SECRET BOND.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 1 TAKES TIME.
R6 4.40pm STO LAW, PART OF THE SLATER & GORDON GROUP QTIS 2-Y-O MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
SISTA ACT wanted to over race when well backed at her first start. It was a handy enough effort and she is still relatively high in Magic Millions Classic early markets. She is hard to beat here.
MISHANI BULLITT has had a little break since good first-up third. Looks to be a major player here.
SCALLOPINI has not trialled officially but well-bred and from a noted two-year-old stable.
GEM OF THE LOCHS ran a nice third at only start behind a couple of smart horses.
MISHANI ELECTRA had no luck at her first run and will find this a lot easier.
SELECTIONS: NO 12 SISTA ACT, NO 3 MISHANI BULLITT, NO 6 SCALLOPINI, NO 8 GEM OF THE LOCHS.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 MISHANI ELECTRA.
I'M THINKING is a winner this track and distance and is well placed for first-up run after a 3kgs claim.
TIN'S POCKET going well in easier races on the Darling Downs while GOLFING has a big weight but probably the best performed horse here.
STOLE THE SHOW has some handy Brisbane form in earlier campaigns. KATCH NICCONI has won a trial in good fashion since last start win.
SELECTIONS: NO 2 I'M THINKING, NO 4 TIN'S POCKET, NO 1 GOLFING, NO 8 STOLE THE SHOW.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 KATCH NICCONI.
R8 6.00pm PFD FOOD SERVICES COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m
We made OBERLAND (BEST BET) our best bet in a far harder race in Brisbane at Eagle Farm on Saturday but he was scratched because of a wet track. He should win this against what is a handy Class 4 field. The only worry is he is up in weights but he has won three from four starts first-up. He is three from three first-up for this stable.
SELECTIONS: NO 2 OBERLAND, NO 5 MARTINELLI, NO 8 ASHGROVIAN, NO 1 BEAU JET.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 ASHGROVIAN.
R9 6.40pm PELICAN MOTORS SERVICE CENTRE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300m
One of those races where an upset is on the cards.
NIGHT ATTIRE had handy form last campaign and has been placed first-up. Interesting the stable is claiming 3kgs here because it rarely does that unless they are thinking of a betting move.
JILL'S CHARM is no champion but is honest. PONTY is usually about the place in this type of race.
BEST DANCE YET is far better placed here than last-start flop.
SELECTIONS: NO 2 NIGHT ATTIRE, NO 6 JILL'S CHARM, NO 11 PONTY, NO 4 BEST DANCE YET.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 11 PONTY.
R10 7.20pm CENTREPOINT HOLIDAY APARTMENTS RATINGS BAND 0-70 HANDICAP 1600m
PRINCESS CHARM belted a similar field at Ipswich and this big track suits even better.
HOW CAN I HELP ran into a handy mare last time and was very honest. This type of race is ideal.
BIANTIC was a strong winner last time and looks a top hope again.
KINGTANTES is almost impossible to follow but he is fitter and on his day he would win this but who knows when it's his day?
SELECTIONS: NO 9 PRINCESS CHARM, NO 6 HOW CAN I HELP, NO 11 BIANTIC, NO 4 KINGTANTES.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 KINGTANTES.
TONY BALONEY turned in a huge run when second this track last start. He walked out of the barriers and won't want to do that again but hard to beat here.
INGEEGOODBE has been racing well and met a couple of smart horses when third this track recently. Only problem is the big weight.
SWEET SHAMROCK could not have been more impressive winning a maiden last start. He has the top jockey and a distance to suit.
LATE PAYMENT usually races up on the pace and he might even lead here.
ROSADOR will be good odds but has strong each way claims on recent form.
SELECTIONS: NO 3 TONY BALONEY, NO 1 INGEEGOODBE, NO 5 SWEET SHAMROCK, NO 8 LATE PAYMENT.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 ROSADOR.
R12 8.20pm CHAPS MENSWEAR FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
SOCIAL VAMPIRE is a very promising filly and will get the run of the race from barrier (3).
SHEEZALADY getting very close to win this area and her last two runs have been good.
MARGO MAREE (BEST ROUGHIE) will be big odds but she has plenty of ability and will be fitter for recent racing. She wasn't beaten far in a Listed race as a two-year-old and probably should have finished three lengths closer.
FOX FORCE FIVE impressed at her only start with a strong win and the form has been franked since.
SELECTIONS: NO 6 SOCIAL VAMPIRE, NO 1 SHEEZALADY, NO 10 MARGO MAREE, NO 8 FOX FORCE FIVE.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 MARGO MAREE.
