Eagle Farm has had plenty of racing lately and the rail has gradually been moved out to its current 7.5 metres from the 1000m to the 400m and then five metres the rest.

It means the track has stood up to recent racing, although predicting the bias has become a nightmare.

There are again storms predicted for south east Queensland this weekend and that will be on top of the rain which has fallen all week. Eagle Farm has already had nearly 70mm.

This meeting is also hosting a State of Origin jockeys series, which means there are a lot of visiting jockeys. In other words, it should be a very competitive day.

QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 9,11,/4,5,7,10/1,3/10
Wide: 8,9,11,14,15/4,5,7,10/1,2,3,5,8/1,6,8,10

Best Bet: R 9 – 10. L'ENTRECOTE
Next Best Bet: R 4 - 7. BECKONING LIGHT
Best Roughie: R 7 – 4. RIVER RACER

R1 – 12.27pm. Coke Zero Benchmark 75 Handicap – 2200m.

SAHARA SIREN We tipped Sahara Siren last week in a shorter race and she only worked to the line solidly to finish fourth, but she raced like a genuine stayer and this distance suits with a light weight. One thing: she is very good on wet tracks and is probably the most promising horse in this race.

WAR BABY She is bred to be a 1000m horse but she has run some very good races over middle distances. In fact, her last run at 1800m was excellent. Another who likes the wet.

ROCK ON IVY She was an upset winner last time at this trip but has to be given a good chance here with a 3kgs claim. She does need early pace, which she should get here.

SHANAKEE Has been racing well without winning. She is rock hard fit and while she has never won in the wet she has been placed several times.

SELECTIONS: NO 7 SAHARA SIREN, NO 4 WAR BABY, NO 3 ROCK ON IVY, NO 8 SHANAKEE.

VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 THE GREY FLASH

R2 – 1.02pm. Jim Beam QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1200m.

MISHANI BULLITT He has shown promise at both his race starts. Ran on well at the Sunshine Coast and the winner ran a class record. He looked as though the run would have brought him on very well. The 1200m around Eagle Farm should suit now that he is fitter. He is still in the Magic Millions Classic and a win will qualify him for the race. He will probably turn out to be a good 1600m horse but this does suit.

BOLD KINGSTON Has been good at his past two starts and only just failed last time this track and distance. He has shown he can handle soft tracks and from a top two-year-old stable.

SCALLOPINI Made up a lot of ground at his first start. Another who looked as though he would have needed the run. Has the inside barrier and a top Sydney jockey.

COLOSIMO He was strong winning at his first start at the Gold Coast. This is harder but he had a bit in hand at the finish. Another with a top jockey and a good barrier.

SELECTIONS: NO 2 MISHANI BULLITT, NO 1 BOLD KINGSTON, No 4 SCALLOPINI, NO 5 COLOSIMO

VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 NASTY GAL

R3 – 1.37pm. Makers Mark QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1600m.

VOLPINO He has been very good at all three of his starts since coming to Queensland. He has finished strongly at all of his runs and was mowing down a very smart horse last start when second. He is drawn off the track but that won't be a worry for his racing style. A great chance to give trainer Les Kelly his first metropolitan winner since coming back to training.

NO ANNAMOSSITY He never runs a bad race and has been looking for 1600m. He has a Group One jockey and the inside barrier. He will just need some luck in the straight.

BENFICA PRINCESS She has been very strong late in winning her past three runs. She loves the 1600m and is a winner this track. The only worry is the possibility of a wet track.

ORDER AGAIN Good win at the Sunshine Coast followed two unlucky runs. This is harder but big wraps on him as a future stayer.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 VOLPINO, NO 2 NO ANNAMOSSITY, NO 4 BENFICA PRINCESS, NO 6 ORDER AGAIN

VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 ORDER AGAIN

R4 – 2.17pm. Cascade No More Than One Metro Win Handicap - 1400m.

BECKONING LIGHT (NEXT BEST BET) If ever a horse deserved a Saturday win it is Beckoning Light, who has been very good her past two starts without winning. Gets in here on the minimum and a few above her in the weights have been struggling. These big fields generate plenty of pace and she will be hitting the line as well as anything. She does look a very good each-way bet, especially as she has good wet track form.

SELECTIONS: NO 7 BECKONING LIGHT, NO 3 BETTER LAND, NO 5 FORGOTTEN YEARS, NO 11 MYSTIC OPAL

VALUE RUNNER: NO 12 SELFIE

R5 – 2.53pm. Coke Origin Jockey Series Class 3 Plate - 1600m.

MADAME DE BAN Has been honest both her runs since a spell. This distance should suit and has an in-form Sydney jockey. She should be close up just behind the pace and is a lot fitter now. Wet track form isn't flash although placed twice in soft going. As we keep saying, watch the weather before betting too much at this track.

OLD TEX He is honest and has been good in easier races, winning his past two. He likes to lead. He should get a lead here but the key will be how easy a lead.

ARKI It was a great training performance to get him to win at his first start in two years last time. Obviously has leg problems but he does have a lot of ability.

SUBSOLAR Has always looked like a future stayer but has done herself no favours by missing the start in shorter races. If she jumps cleanly, is a real chance.

SELECTIONS: NO 12 MADAME DE BAN, NO 4 OLD TEX, NO 1 ARKI, NO 15 SUBSOLAR

VALUE RUNNER: NO 14 ADHERE

R6 – 3.32pm. Sprite Origin Jockey Series Benchmark 85 Handicap - 1200m.

FIERY HEIGHTS He was good enough to run in some stakes races last winter and the stable has a big opinion of him. Won his last start in easier company but had to overcome a wide barrier to do it. He is much better drawn here and should get the run of the race. The stable is in great form and he looks their best chance this week.

INVITATIONS Has some very good Sydney form in previous campaigns but ordinary two runs from a spell. She has had a trial and has gone okay in the lead up to this. Watch for sharp improvement here.

STELLA OMBRA He was very strong at the end of 1000m last start. He is always suited when the pace is on early and that will happen here.

DAME DESTINY She is having her first start on this track but she does like 1200m. She was okay in a recent trial and down in the weights here a definite hope.

SELECTIONS: NO 11 FIERY HEIGHTS, NO 8 INVITATIONS, NO 9 STELLA OMBRA, NO 14 DAME DESTINY

VALUE RUNNER: NO 15 BIDII BABE

R7 – 4.12pm. Peak Sports And Spine Centre Mode Plate - 1200m.

RIVER RACER (BEST ROUGHIE) She was our best roughie last week so we had better stick after this race was called off due to an impending storm. Her first-up run was good and she never runs a bad race. But she is always a good price and looks hard to beat here. She is by a noted wet track sire and while she hasn't won on soft going, she has been placed all four starts in the wet. Expect her to be closer in the run this week.

ECKSTEIN Has won her past two starts in Sydney and is a filly with a lot of potential. It is hard to predict where she will get from barrier (13) but who knows, the track might suit those drawn wide.

SUSPENDERS Is a Sydney filly who has excellent wet track form. She has won at the distance and on the dry but if it rains she will probably start close to favourite.

SAVANNA AMOUR One of the few fillies here not being set for the Magic Millions. This is her grand final this campaign and she is very promising.

SELECTIONS: NO 4 RIVER RACER, NO 5 ECKSTEIN, NO 7 SUSPENDERS, NO 10 SAVANNA AMOUR

VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 RIVER RACER

R8 – 4.48pm. Canadian Club Just Now Handicap - 1300m.

NO 3 RAVI She was scratched from a race two weeks ago because of a wide barrier but has had a barrier trial. She is very well bred and has won in heavy going. She should get the run of the race with plenty of pace expected early. The stable has a lot of luck in Queensland feature races and this looks to be another one. She has raced against far stronger company and has not been disgraced.

NO 8 MADOTTI She is a classy mare who has had nothing but bad luck in her career. She finally won again at Rosehill last start when she showed a lot of heart in the run to the line.

NO 1 ELEGANT COMPOSURE Goes up in weights and has a tricky barrier, but she was dominant winning this track two weeks ago. She is very consistent and the stable feels she will eventually win a big Group race.

NO 2 BEATNIKS She was good first-up and if the track is wet she will shorten in the betting a great deal. But still a chance on a dry track, especially at this distance which looks her best.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 RAVI, NO 8 MADOTTI, NO 1 ELEGANT COMPOSURE, NO 2 BEATNIKS

VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 CRUISING SPEED

R9 – 5.19pm. Mount Franklin Quality Handicap - 1500m.

L'ENTRECOTE (BEST BET) The saying is weight will stop a train and that has been the case with this horse. He has had to lump plenty of weight in restricted class and now steps up to open company. But this distance is ideal and he has a champion jockey in Michael Rodd and while the barrier looks to be a worry, he has the pace to get across and he does handle soft tracks. He has shown a liking for this track and now gets his chance with no weight. This race has fallen away in depth with a few top chances not accepting.

SELECTIONS: NO 10 L'ENTRECOTE, NO 8 LORDAG, NO 6 MR EPIC, NO 1 DANCES ON STARS

VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 HARADA BAY
