Thu, 8 Dec, 12:00 AM
Rosehill yet again for the Saturday metro meeting. We have nine races on the card, kicking off with what looks to be a really hot 2yo race.

James Doyle and Brenton Avdulla look to have really strong books on paper and we will see how that plays out.

Rail Position: Out 6m Entire Circuit.

Track Rating: Soft 5 at time of writing, but expect it to be Good come race day.

QUADDIES (Races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny: 1,2,4 – 3,5 – 1,7,11,14 – 6,10
Wide: 1,2,3,4,8,13,14 – 3,5,9,11,12 – 1,7,11,13,14,15 – 1,6,7,10,13,15,16

Best Bet: R2 – 1. Zumbelina
Next Best Bet: R1 – 6 Falconic
Best Roughie: R8– 1. Gold Ambition

R1 - 12:40PM. SCHWEPPES HANDICAP. 1100m.

Falconic (NEXT BEST BET) Has trialed in imposing fashion all three times. He has moved through his gears well in all trials without being asked to do a lot. He has a lot of experience on all of his rivals here and looks to be a ready-made 2yo and will take a power of beating here.

SELECTIONS: No 6 FALCONIC, No 5 Coorg, No 3 Angel’s Boy, No 7 Lutreola

VALUE RUNNER: No 6 Falconic

R2 – 1:20PM. #THERACES PLATE. 1400m.

Zumbelina (BEST BET) Should just make a mess of these here. At the set weights and penalties, she gets in 4kgs better off than any other runner in the field. She has been dominant in all wins this time in. Avdulla on only strengthens that and I have her rated $1.45 to beat this field.

SELECTIONS: No 1 ZUMBELINA, No 5 Lubiton, No 4 Arbeitsam, No 2 Cadogan

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Zumbelina

Falco Forget his even money SP last start, he produced the run of the day at Wagga last start when coming from last against a horrid bias. There looks to be more pace in this race here and with that he should settle better in the run. Handy claim for Heywood and gives him a good chance.

Backless Again another horse who produced a massive run on debut at Wagga against the bias. She did a good job to finish over the top of them. Comes straight to town here, but Dale must have a big opinion of her. Can’t split her or Falco, so have marked them equal favs here.

Forever Newyork Has produced two barnstorming wins this time in. First-up he was about 30s into 3s and won like a horse who was backed like that should. Then, straight to Class 1 grade he came from back against the bias to win in impressive fashion. Love a horse in hot form coming to a race like this. Colvin’s team starting to fire at Wagga and a win wouldn’t shock.

Bills A Goodie Won well at Muswellbrook at their showcase meeting. Prior to that he had been good in highway races. He gets blinkers for the first time here. My only worry is that he is a 7yo in his first prep 8th run in!

SELECTIONS: No 1 FALCO, No 11 Backless, No 6 Forever Newyork, No 2 Bills A Goodie

VALUE RUNNER: No 11 Backless

Girl Sunday Flying this time in with two strong wins in as many starts. She looks to get a good run on the map here. Innes is riding quite well at the minute and the 2kg claim is invaluable. In an even race such as this I’m happy to stick with the mare in form.

Dagny Was a scratching behind the barrier last start when she was kicked by another horse. Must have taken no harm from the incident. Previous to that she had won twice in really good fashion. Just a small concern about the setback though.

Dixie Chick Looks to get sufficient speed on paper to finish off here. She has been crying for a race with a proper set up and gets it here. From barrier (1), Parr will smother her up for the last crack at them. She will need a touch of luck, but if she gets it don’t be surprised to see her blow them away.

Alart Just found the 1500m too far in the Muswellbrook Cup, back to 1400m here is much more suitable. A good claim gets her in with 58.5kgs and is under the HCP here. From barrier (5) she looks to get a good run in transit two pairs back and gets her chance.

SELECTIONS: No 2 GIRL SUNDAY, No 9 Dagny, No 5 Dixie Chick, No 1 Alart

R5 – 3:05PM. TAB REWARDS SPRINT. 1100m.

Sugar Bay Leonard (Dual Acceptor in Races 5 & 9) I have this horse on top in both of his races and not sure where he is going to run. His last start win was very strong when finishing over the top of them. He has shown that he isn’t a big fan of being inside horses and allowed to work through his gears. Bigger expanses of Rosehill suit and he gets his chance to win at Saturday level.

Fiftyshadesofgrey She has a solid record at the track and distance. Hasn’t won for a long time but closed off well first up. She is yet to win second up in her career, but there looks to be sufficient speed in this race for here to finish over the top.

Dal Cielo Closed off really well first up with the big weight. He looked to get run off his legs early and closed off really well. Second up he should be much fitter and will be one hitting the line hard.

Our Renaissance Won that race with Dal Cielo really well, she sustained a hot speed throughout and ran a really good time late (32.8 last 600). She is a winner second up in the past and has looked to return in good order.

SELECTIONS: No 14 Sugar Bay Leonard, No 12 Fiftyshadesofgrey, No 1 Dal Cielo, No 5 Our Renaissance

VALUE RUNNER: No 12 Fiftyshadesofgrey

Trafalgar Up to 2000m third-up suits. He has been working to the line well in both runs this time in. Shinn on here looks a signal of intent and no shock to see him win here.

Multifacets Won well last start and will have no issue staying at the 2000m. Up in the weights yes, but he has struck form where a few of these are battling to keep up.

Hunter Jack Was just run down late last start after producing a massive run. The step up to 2000m looks ideal for him here and he should hold his form now.

The Rumour File Turned his form around with a barnstorming win at big odds last start. Horses like this go one of two ways at their next start; they springboard again or they fall flat. I have no idea which one it is.

SELECTIONS: No 4 TRAFALGAR, No 2 Multifacets, No 8 Hunter Jack, No 1 The Rumour File

VALUE RUNNER: No 8 Hunter Jack

R7 – 4:20PM. TAB HANDICAP. 1400m.

High Midnight Should improve second-up from a spell. He looked in need of a hit out and was given a solid run race to get him into gear. His second-up record is impeccable and with Glyn back on (who has a great affinity with this horse), a springboard wouldn’t shock.

Snoopy Dominated the race last start and gave them no chance to get near him with the blinkers on. He will look to do the same again, but there looks to be a touch more pressure here and he may be vulnerable late.

Reincarnate Just didn’t participate last week, completely forgive run. On the quick back up with the claim he should take up a closer spot in the run and give them something to beat.

Sebrina Comes out of a hot Goulburn Cup, which was run in track record time. The form has held up well from that and third up from a spell she should be ready to peak.

SELECTIONS: No 3 HIGH MIDNIGHT, No 5 Snoopy, No 11 Reincarnate, No 9 Sebrina

VALUE RUNNER: No 9 Sebrina

Most Exalted Returned well in what looks to be a good form race to follow. He may need a touch further than this, but Cummings will have kept him fresh enough and Avdulla will be poking up the fence, saving as much ground as possible.

Gold Ambition (BEST ROUGHIE) Has a good second-up record and was really well backed first-up. He should take a lot of improvement from that run and be hard to hold out.

Hogmanay Won well last start and should hold his form well here. From (15) he should be able to cross them and control the speed and if left alone he will be hard to run down.

Unbiased Gets Doyle for the first time here and looks ready to peak third up. He closed off well last start and looks to get a good run on the map here to give him a chance.

SELECTIONS: No 14 MOST EXALTED, No 1 Gold Ambition, No 11 Hogmanay, No 7 Unbiased

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Gold Ambition

R9 – 5:40PM. TAB.COM.AU SPRINT. 1200m.

Sugar Bay Leonard Dual Acceptor in Races 5 & 9. I have this horse on top in both of his races and not sure where he is going to run. His last-start win was very strong when finishing over the top of them. He has shown that he isn’t a big fan of being inside horses and allowed to work through his gears. Bigger expanses of Rosehill suit and he gets his chance to win at Saturday level.

Sonic Swish Was a little flat second up after a booming first-up win at Randwick. Stays in the same grade here and will have to go back from 17, but there is sufficient speed on here for him to finish over the top.

Louie Sea Kay Finished off really well in both runs this time in, getting to the bigger track of Rosehill suits him and he gets a good weight drop on both runs this time in.

Hand From Above With the booking of Shinn here, and off two trials I am convinced this gelding will be ready to go first up. He is a winner in the past first up and Shinn will have him in a stalking position ready to pounce

SELECTIONS: No 6 SUGAR BAY LEONARD, No 10 Sonic Swish, No 13 Louie Sea Kay, No 7 Hand From Above

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 Hand From Above
