With warm weather forecast at Mornington and the track rated a Good 4, expect a firm surface.

The false rail will be at eight metres and trainer Darren Weir has a strong contingent of gallopers running throughout the smallish seven-event card.

Though the field sizes may not be big, the racing is most competitive, with some tough races.

R1 – 2pm Main Street Mornington Plate - 1500m

YULONG SHENG LONG Showed his true ability first-up when chasing hard to finish second over 1300m at Bendigo on November 30. Brad Rawiller replaces Dean Yendall and he will be at sharp odds on his first-up effort.

DOMESTICATED Is definitely worth watching here as she has her hoof on the till. Latest was a sound second over 1400m at Sandown on December 7. She goes up a kilo to 56kg but is a solid chance.

THE WAY YOU MOVE Has senior jockey Mark Zahra replacing apprentice Jye McNeil and is worth watching here. Has been freshened since finishing sixth in a 1500m maiden at Bendigo on November 9. Ideally drawn in (2).

FLUX CAPACITATOR Is one of the better chances in this race. Took the lead and fought on well before finishing fifth over 1600m at Bendigo in a maiden on November 30. Is worthy of consideration.

SELECTIONS: No6 YULONG SHENG LONG, No7 Domesticated, No5 The Way You Move, No2 Flux Capacitator

VALUE RUNNER: No2 Flux Capacitator

R2 - 2.30pm Highview Accounting Plate - 1500m

SICKENING has appeal here on last-start second over 1521m at Geelong on December 4. Gets a riding change with Brad Rawiller replacing John Allen but will carry the same weight on 59.5kg. Has a good alley in (7).

LUCKY PROSPECTOR Gets a riding change, with apprentice Chris Caserta replacing senior jockey Noel Callow. Caserta’s 3kg claim takes off a bit of weight down to 56.5kg and he gave a good effort to win easily last start at Werribee on November 29.

SAVATONE Ben Thompson replaces Craig Williams here. Thompson’s 2kg claim alleviates his weight impost, dropping him to 58.5kg and he should be fitter on his first-up third over 1300m at Sandown on November 23.

I TAUT I SAW (BEST ROUGHIE) Drops in class on his last start when running seventh over 1600m at Moonee Valley on November 23. Luke Currie keeps the ride and he is capable on 57kg from gate (4).

SELECTIONS: No4 SICKENING, No3 Lucky Prospector, No2 Savatone, No7 I Taut I Saw

R3 – 3pm Sunset Cinema Plate – 1500m

MY OBSESSION Will have a change of rider with Beau Mertens replacing colleague Ben Allen. Both apprentices are flying and Mertens’ 2kg claim will aid her quest dropping her to 55kg. She has been on the mark and with luck can break through.

SANAYA Has not been far away at her starts in Sydney. Leading trainer Chris Waller has decided on a change in scenery and has booked top Melbourne jockey Damien Oliver to ride her at her Victorian debut here.

SENSATION ALLY Gave an imposing display to win easily at her first-up run at Bendigo on November 30. She goes up a kilo for the win to 59.5kg and Daniel Stackhouse keeps the ride. Would respect her here.

EOLANDE Could have been a shade unlucky when finishing second over 1300m at Warrnambool on December 1. She gets a riding change with senior rider Jake Noonan replacing apprentice Michael Dee and bears thought here.

SELECTIONS: No3 MY OBSESSION, No5 Sanaya, No2 Sensation Ally, No6 Eolande

R4 - 3.30pm Mornington Truck Food Carnival – 2400m

CRY IF I WANT TO Pushed along hard to fight well for second placing over 2000m at Werribee on November 29. Noel Callow stays on board and carries 57kg and is drawn ideally for a soft run in gate (3). Makes good appeal in a hard race.

TUFF BICKIE Chased hard in a big field to finish fourth over 2000m at Pakenham on December 3. Stephen Baster keeps the ride and he is going to be suited here again on 58.5kg.

RAINDROPS ON ROSES Won two starts ago at Ballarat and can bounce back on latest effort when running fifth over 2000m at Werribee on November 29. Looms with claims with apprentice Regan Bayliss’s 1.5kg claim reducing his weight to 53kg.

SCOONER Is another runner from the Sydney stables of top trainer Chris Waller. He gets a weight decrease of a kilo to 58.5kg on his last-start third over 2200m at Warwick Farm on November 23.

SELECTIONS: No6 CRY IF I WANT TO, No3 Tuff Bickie, No10 Raindrops On Roses, No2 Scooner

R5 – 4pm Handicap - 1600m

No2 DANCING HARE (BEST BET) Is a lovely bred daughter of Fastnet Rock, who made a brilliant debut with a half-length win over 1400m against her own sex in a maiden at Bendigo on November 24. Craig William is replaced by apprentice Jordan Childs and his 1.5kg claim reduces her impost to 58kg, which is 1.5kg more than she carried at her debut. Better drawn in (8) here.

R6 - 4.30pm Ladbrokes Up For The Challenge - 1600M

No3 REWARDING EFFORT (NEXT BEST BET) Is a promising sort with a record of two wins and two seconds at nine starts. He is down in class here on his last start sixth in the Gold Bullion (1400m) at Pakenham on December 3. Leading apprentice Ben Thompson gets the nod to ride and his 2kg claim will reduce his weight to a comfortable 57.5kg, and thus he makes strong appeal in a race of this calibre.

DEVILS PINCH Is a lightly raced four-year-old who has won four of his nine starts. He has an unblemished record of three wins from three starts first-up and with two Cranbourne trials under his belt makes strong appeal.

STRIKE FORCE Has a handy first-up record of three starts for two seconds. He was backed from $8 into $6 at his last start when finishing seventh at Sandown on July 27. Pat Maloney is the new rider and bears thought in a deep race here.

CHEEKY BABE Has had her races spaced by trainer Darren Weir. Weir has gone for a change of rider, with Michael Dee replaced by Beau Mertens on her last-start second over1200m at Ballarat on November 19. Will carry 57kg and is a chance.

STANBOROUGH Is a seasoned campaigner but is racing as hot as a greyhound with three start wins to his credit. Apprentice Stephen Brown keeps his weight down with his 3kg claim reducing his handicap to 57kg here.

SELECTIONS: No2 DEVILS PINCH, No8 Strike Force, No6 Cheeky Babe, No4 Stanborough

VALUE RUNNER: No4 Stanborough
