Sunshine Coast Betting Preview | Horse Racing Tips

The Sunshine Coast has had a heavy workload and it is about to get heavier.

Mon, 19 Dec, 11:02 PM
The Sunshine Coast has had a heavy workload and it is about to get heavier. This is the third meeting at the track in six days and it will have 12 meetings in the next five weeks. Luckily, it is a big track and generally considered the best in Queensland. The rail is out six metres, which often means leaders can be favoured because they are out near the crown of the track which runs down the straight. Thunderstorms have again pounded south east Queensland this week but the Sunshine Coast has missed most of them. However, it could well be its turn shortly so stay alert and watch for a good track rating to be downgraded to soft very quickly if a storm hits. QUADDIES (Races 7-8-9-10)

Skinny: 1,2,6/4,13/1,7/9,11
Wide: 1,2,6,8/ 1,4,5,13 /1,4,5,7/ 7,9,11

Next Best Bet: R4 No1 BETTER LAND
Best Roughie: R3 No9 LUJAC

RACE 1, 2.15pm Class 3 Plate (1600m)

No 3 SWEET SHAMROCK (BEST BET) This is a handy race to start the day with some fair horses going around. But Sweet Shamrock seems to have found lengths since blinkers were added to his race day gear. He is a winner this track and distance. He is ideally drawn to either lead or sit behind Mysterium and Adhere, who are the other major pacesetters in the race. In-form jockey Jeff Lloyd is booked to ride so he does look hard to beat.

No 7 Subsolar

No 5 Princess Charm

No 6 Adhere

RACE 2, 2.50pm Class 1 Handicap (1600m)

NO 4 ROMAN DOLL At her second run back from a spell she made good ground when fourth in a similar race. She looked in need of the run and should be a lot fitter here. Her only win was on this track.

NO 1 THORNETT A better run last time when he came from mid-field and this distance should suit better.

NO 6 BOCAGE Honest enough galloper but doesn't win many. This isn't tough and he is ready to run a strong 1600m at this big track.

NO 8 MISHANI SCOUT Another who tries hard without winning too many. But this is his best distance ad should be in the finish at good odds.

RACE 3, 3.25pm Maiden Handicap (1400m)

NO 4 SCARLET BEGONIAS At her first run for nearly a year, she was a good third at Ipswich. She will obviously be fitter here and the 1400m should suit. The only worry is the second up syndrome but she has worked well in the past week.

NO 1 THE AMATUER Has a very strong jockey-trainer combination in his favour and last start second at this track was good. Another suited at 1400m.

NO 5 KING DRABADORE Has been trying to win maiden for a while but always about the place money and especially at this track.

NO 9 LUJAC (Best Roughie) Never thought we would tip him the best anything. But he is working up to a win and is usually an each way hope this type of race. Believe it or not he was once a nomination for a Golden Slipper!

Race 4 - 4.05pm Benchmark 80 (1400m)

No 1 BETTER LAND (Next Best Bet) This race has fallen right away in quality after looking like the hardest of the day when nominations were taken. But Better Land now looks a stand out against what is really a bunch of old battlers. While he has never lived up to the huge early wraps on him Better Land has been racing well in this area and his only bad run was last start when he had no luck.

No 3 Fast Arrow

No 5 Spur Le Jouer

No 4 Ellawisdom

RACE 5 - 4.45pm Two Year Old Maiden (1000m)

No 11 Tiara Star Tricky race because of a large number of two-year-olds who are having their first start without trialling. However, Tiara Star has raced well at both her starts before a break. She was very green first time but then stepped up to just fail latest.

NO 1 AMERIDON First starter who has not trialled. But from a top two-year-old stable with a Group One jockey in Damian Browne booked which is usually a good sign.

NO 10 TEAGZ A locally trained first starter who has trialled nicely winning a trial this track. Obviously has ability.

NO 8 SETOKA Very well bred but got lost in the pack when well beaten only start. From a top two-year-old stable and has trialled okay when given an easy time.

RACE6 - 5.25pm Maiden Plate (1000m)

NO 1 JONZALI Showed a lot of fight at only start back in July when second this track. Has plenty of ability and has a handy barrier here.

NO 4 GENERAL SIDEREUS Was far from disgraced in some handy two-year-old races before a spell. We liked his trial this track recently when coasted into second place.

NO 10 JET SUKI At only start didn't have a lot of luck when second at the Gold Coast.

RACE 7 - 6pm Fillies and Mares Benchmark 58 (1000m)

NO 2 BELLA SASH Trained this track and does most of her racing here. Back sharply in class here and looks to be racing well enough to be hard to beat. A bonus against her own sex here.

NO 1 GHERARDINI Another locally trained mare who is better suited back to this track with a 3kgs claim. Has a big weight but still a hope.

NO 6 ROYAL HOOTENANNY She can go fast in her races and is generally about the place money. This is so weak she has a chance to break through.

NO 8 HOPETOUN STREET Her recent racing has been on bush tracks where she is going okay. She could sneak into the money here without shocking.

RACE 8 - 6.35pm Class 5 Handicap (1200m)

NO 1 JACK LANCASTER He was scratched from a harder track on Saturday to run here. He has been most consistent of late and has a 3kg claim here. On his home track has strong claims.

NO 4 OBERLAND The stable has had a few problems because, of all things, earthworks are being carried out right beside their complex. The earthworks has stopped so watch for the horses to again pick up. At his best and if rested Oberland would win this.

NO 5 DREAM OF SLIPS Has been racing well but a long time since he has won. This should suit and chance to finally break through.

NO 7 MIRI MIRI Only battled last time but this suits better and can get a sit just off the pace here.

RACE 9 - 7.10pm Class 1 Handicap (1200m)

NO 1 MISHANI SLEUTH He ran some good races behind top three-year-olds before a break. He ran a good third first-up on a heavy track and gets his chance to win again here.

NO 5 NATURAL BLACK His three runs have all been on this track and they have all been good efforts. Obviously a top chance again.

NO 7 SNOW FIELDS Forget her first-up failure and go on her good two-year-old form. Usually take a run or two to hit top form.

NO 4 HE'S A NATURAL Never out of the place in five starts and trialled solidly for his comeback run here. Another top hope.

RACE 10 - 7.45pm Class 1 Plate (2200m)

NO 9 KHADIJA This is a truly dreadful race. Khadija at least has never been out of the place in three goes at 2200m and won a maiden at that distance by three lengths last start. It is such a weak race she must be hard to beat again.

NO 11 PINK CHAPERONE She is our second pick mainly by default as she has won once in 53 starts. But she has been placed twice this trip so must have some hope.

NO 7 CHAMPAGNE KISSES Going okay in provincial races and is bred to run this trip. Stepping up from 1600m last start.

NO 4 SPORTSTAR SAMUEL Won a 2100m maiden two runs back and then mid-field in tougher northern rivers race last time. Should at least get a strong 2200m.
