Night racing is at Cranbourne tonight as a traditional Moonee Valley meeting has been moved to the provincial venue for something different.

We wish all punters the best of success and we hope to be able to help them find a winner.

It is a tough meeting though with three maidens to kick off the eight-race card and not a lot of quality on show.

The rail will be at the true position. The track is predicted to be a Good 4 and fine and balmy weather is forecast.

Best Roughie: R6 – 1. MILITARY

R1 – 6:30pm TAB We love a bet Maiden Plate - 2025m

SHADOW PRINCE Ran a solid fourth over 1850m at Terang on December 5. This is a very even event with not much between runners. Tom Sadler keeps the ride and is a chance here on 57kg.

TRIMOUILLE Returns to country racing after finishing fifth against her own sex over 1600m at Moonee Valley on December 2. Will have some admirers here.

TRIBAND Has only had two starts. Was raised to 1600m last start and ran a solid fifth in a maiden at Tatura on December 11. Can only improve with fitness and makes some appeal in an ordinary maiden.

SELECTIONS: No5 SHADOW PRINCE, No9 Trimouille, No12 Triband

VALUE RUNNER: No12 Triband

R2 – 7.00pm Peter & Lavella DaRose AFC F&M Maiden Plate - 1400m

ROCK AND ROSE Has been placed at four of seven starts. Latest ran fourth in a 1413m maiden at Geelong on November 13. Has been kept fresh and gets a new rider here with Cory Parish taking the reins.

JODI NICOLE Ran a good second over 1200m in a maiden at Moonee Valley on December 9. Matthew Allen is the new rider and if repeats that run should go close here carrying 58kg.

FOXLING Has had six chances but placed only once. This is ordinary and gets her chance with a last-start fourth over 1300m at Sandown on December 7. Looms with each-way claims here.

SHEWEARSTHEPANTS Blew in the betting from $4 to $6.50 but ran a handy debut to finish fourth in a 1400m maiden on December 10. Dean Yendall keeps the ride for top trainer Darren Weir.

SELECTIONS: No7 ROCK AND ROSE, No4 Jodi Nicole, No8 Foxling, No11 Shewearsthepants

VALUE RUNNER: No11 Shewearsthepants

R3 – 7.30pm Unox 3YO Maiden Plate - 1400m

RIDGWAY Gets his chance here to break the ice on his last-start fourth over 1200m at Flemington on December 10. Ace heavy-weight jockey Steve Arnold takes the ride and big drop here.

DORAWIN Is a former NSW galloper making his debut for new trainers here after previously being prepared by Ron Quinton. Has not run since finishing third over 1300m at Hawkesbury on October 20. Has claims.

PARALLEL WORLD Gets Michael Walker to ride after making her debut with a good second over 1200m against her own sex in a maiden at Cranbourne on November 16. Has supporters.

SELECTIONS: No3 RIDGWAY, No7 Dorawin, No11 Parallel World

VALUE RUNNER: No11 Parallel World

R4 – 8.00pm Highview Accounting & Financial F&M BM64 Handicap - 1600m

COMIC MISS Gets her chance being trained by ace trainer Darren Weir in a tricky race. Last start ran a good second over 1523m against her own sex at Moonee Valley on December 9

GILT EDGE Gets Chris Symons replacing top jockey Dwayne Dunn. She ran a fair race last start when finishing fourth over 1500m at Mornington on December 17. Has appeal.

WANTED LADY Gets a kilo drop in weight to 59kg on her last start win over 1406m at Ballarat on December 3. Jamie Mott takes the reins here and pays to keep in mind.

ELEGANT QUEEN Gets a change of riders with Ethan Brown replacing Jordan Childs. She ran a good second over 1500m at Mornington on December 14 and carries 58kg with the claim.

R5 – 8.30pm Mypunter.com Class 1 Handicap - 1500m

No2 PRIOR ENGAGEMENT (BEST BET) Showed he was on target for this with a strong first-up third over 1300m at Werribee on December 10. He hails from the Darren Weir camp and has stable jockey Dean Yendall replacing a 3kg apprentice. Has won over 1600m second-up before and would pay to respect here very much.

No1 FOLK TALES

No4 JVALA

No6 PHOENIX STAR

R6 – 9.00pm Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM64 Handicap - 1000m

MILITARY (BEST ROUGHIE) With Stephen Brown’s 2kg claim will carry 61.5kg here. He ran a good fourth over 1000m at Moonee Valley on December 16 and a big weight over a short distance is not too much of a burden.

CHATEAU CHEVAL Hails from the top yard of Team Hayes and she should go well fresh on her close second over 1000m in a trial on December 13 at Tatura. Keep very safe here.

LEODORO Has new rider Ethan Brown riding and his 2kg claim helps with him carrying 57.5kg here. Not raced since running fifth at Sandown on August 10 over 1400m. Respect.

INVINCIBLE ME Has had a heap of trials to make sure he is fit first-up. He gets a good rider in Jamie Mott and carries 61kg. He has a good first-up record of a win and a third at four starts.

SELECTIONS: No1 MILITARY, No6 Chateau Cheval, No4 Leodoro, No3 Invincible Me

VALUE RUNNER: No1 Military

R7 – 9.30pm Procon Developments BM64 Handicap - 1400m

No2 I BOUGHT A HORSE (NEXT BEST BET) Had no luck when copped a big squeeze last start before finishing eighth over 1200m at Moonee Valley on December 9. Ben Thompson rode that time and Jordan Grob rides here with his 2kg claim reducing his impost to 58.5kg. He has been right up there and a change of luck here will do wonders.

No3 NATURAL ACHIEVER

No4 AERIAL PING PONG

No12 SEGUNA

R8 – 10.00pm TAB We love a bet BM64 Handicap - 1200m

BROADWAY AND FIRST Won first-up at Pakenham before running a strong third over 1200m at Moonee Valley on December 9. Stable rider Dean Yendall replaces apprentice Ben Allen.

GANGSTAR’S CURSE Can improve sharply on first-up seventh over 1000m at Cranbourne on December 10. Ethan Brown’s 2kg sees him carry 58kg which is a kilo less and his prior form was solid.

GHENWAA Is back in her right class here after finishing ninth over 1400m at Sandown on November 12. Top apprentice Regan Bayliss keeps the mount and would not discount.
