Doomben again played sensationally last Saturday with near course record times and winners leading or coming from last. The rail is out 2.5 metres this Saturday which should make little difference to the racing pattern. There was plenty of rain in Brisbane early this week and some more is predicted. Doomben is a good drying track but as we say each week be alert for thunderstorms. They can strike quickly and alter the race patterns. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 8/1,11/1,4,5,,15/4,11
Wide: 3,6,8,11/1,7,9,11,12,/1,4,5,15/2,4,6,11

BEST BET: R5 – 8. MYSTIC OPAL
Next Best Bet: R2 – 3. CELLARGIRL
Best Roughie: R1 – 11. GOOD LUCK MALELA

R1 - 12:27pm Merry Christmas All From the BRC QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap – 1000m

REALING This is a tough race and he is badly off at the weights against some of his rivals. But the stable has a big wrap on him and a win could see him make the Magic Millions Guineas field. Has a top Sydney jockey and a good barrier so will be hard to beat.

GOOD LUCK MALELA (BEST ROUGHIE) He had no luck when sixth behind Realing at his last start. At his previous start was a strong Ipswich winner and should get a perfect run from barrier four.

EASTERN PARADISE Meets Realing 3kgs better than when that horse beat him a head at their last meeting. He has won since that race but has a tricky barrier here.

ZAMEX He is Realing's stablemate and could not have been more impressive in winning at both his race starts. He gets back and runs on strongly. This is harder but he has plenty of ability.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 REALING, NO 5 Good Luck Malela, NO 4 Eastern Paradise, NO 2 Zamex

VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 Good Luck Malela

R2 – 1:03pm Sky Thoroughbred Central QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1050m

N0 3 CELLARGIRL (NEXT BEST BET) She has been among the favourites for the Magic Millions Classic since she overcame difficulties to win at Eagle Farm at her only start. This distance is ideal now and she is also well drawn. Facing a good field here but as long as she lives up to her first run she will be very hard to beat.

NO 4 SHE'S OUR STAR

NO 7 INITIALIZE

R3 - 1:38pm New Years Eve Raceday Benchmark 75 Handicap - 2020m

SAN TELMO He is ranked by some as the most promising stayer in Queensland. But he faces a task second-up and stepping up to 2000m quickly. But he has to be the top tip on raw ability.

ROCK ON IVY She has been racing very well in slightly longer races and is getting up in the weights. But winning form is the best form so she has high hopes here.

R4 - 2:13pm Gopher Coffee Origin Jockey Series Race Class 3 Plate - 1050m

RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR He would have run at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday but that race was abandoned meaning he now has to take on older horses. But he is very promising and has trialled well for his comeback here. Winner of his past three starts against better three-year-olds than most of this field.

SIR DONALD He seems to race best at Ipswich but this type of race suits him very well. Has the leading jockey and barrier three which are big pluses.

MAGIC DIAMOND A quality mare from an in-form stable but has a poor barrier to overcome. She will need luck but can finish quickly.

FLO JO SNIP A very fast mare who will be among the leaders here. The last 100m will be a test but has claims against this field.

SELECTIONS: NO 5 RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR, NO 9 Sir Donald, NO 10 Magic Diamond, NO 7 Flo Jo Snip

VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 Flo Jo Snip

R5 – 2.50pm Hamilton Hotel Origin Jockeys Series Race Benchmark 80 Handicap - 1350m

NO 8 MYSTIC OPAL (BEST BET) She was often talked about as being a top middle distance performer but has made short work of two sprint fields of late. She can finish very quickly. Provided she can get cover from the wide barrier, should be too strong for this field. There does look to be plenty of pace so it is an ideal test. A win here could see her set for some bigger races in the winter.

NO 6 FORGOTTEN YEARS

NO 3 DENARIUS

NO 11 BUSHY

R6 – 3.30pm Gallopers Sports Club Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 6 Handicap - 1200m

ROUGH EDDIE He is a funny horse in that he seems to go best for female riders. He has one here and a 3kgs claim so a genuine hope.

APPLE THIEF First run from a spell was good and then did little last time. But should be fitter and a chance on best form.

BRACTEATE He is better over longer trips but did trial nicely without being knocked about for his race return here. Scratched Wednesday to run here.

SELECTIONS: No9 ROUGH EDDIE, No7 Apple Thief, No11 Bracteate

VALUE RUNNER: NO 11 Bracteate

R7 - 4.10pm WWW.BRC.Com.Au Fillies and Mares Class 6 Handicap - 1200m

SHEISWHATSHEIS Like many of the mares in this field she is thrown in at the weights because they have been compressed to accommodate top mare Pepperano. She has been racing well enough to really test this field.

PEPPERANO She is the class runner here but still has 58.5kgs even after a claim. Her best form is at slightly longer trips but she is still hard to beat here at first run for nearly two months.

HEARTFORD Has won her past two starts on provincial tracks. Has raced well on occasions against the better horses and deserves a chance here.

MAGIC I AM She nearly got lapped at her first run back from a spell. But she is lengths better than that and is unbeaten second-up.

SELECTIONS: NO 4 SHEISWHATSHEIS, NO 1 Pepperano, NO 5 Heartford, NO 8 Magic I Am

VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 Magic I Am

R8 – 4.48pm BRC Memberships No More Than Two Metro Wins this year Handicap - 1615m

LORDAG He is down in class here after running some handy races without getting into the place at three runs this campaign. On his best form he would be too good for these but he needs to deliver now.

L'ENTRECOTE The one day he drew a good barrier he won. Had no luck from a bad draw last start and has a bad barrier again. But with luck he can win this.

SEBRINA Sydney trained mare who has been battling away without winning. This is the easiest race she has been in for a while.

GLENDARA Usually about the place these races and can win on occasions when things go his way. Another drawn wide here but can go forward and get a sit just off the pace.

SELECTIONS: NO 4 LORDAG, NO 6 L'Entercote, NO 8 Sebrina, NO 11 Glendara

VALUE RUNNER: NO 11 Glendara
