Randwick Betting Preview | Horse Racing Tips

Good meeting coming up for us on Boxing Day, back at Randwick after Villiers day which was a weird day with how the track played.

Thu, 22 Dec, 1:56 PM
We at Oddschecker hope everyone had a cracking Xmas Day!

Here we go with a decent Boxing Day program at Royal Randwick.

With no rain on the horizon and the track drying out, it should be in the good range with the rail out three meters the circumference, which should even it out a little. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-8-9)

Skinny: 2,3,4 – 2,3 – 2 – 1,5
Wide: 2,3,4 – 1,2,3,7 – 1,2,3,9 – 1,3,5,6,7,8,9,11

Next Best Bet: R1 No3 HUALALAI
Best Roughie: R8 No7 LYCIA

R2 – 1:55PM #THERACES HANDICAP - 1200m

No 2 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE (BEST BET) Dominant winner first-up when soft in the market for some reason. That win had come off the back of two super trials. The win was plain arrogant and he looked as if he had a lot left to give. The form has held up already. From an inside barrier (2) and back at home for the first time, he should be winning again here.

R3 - 2:30PM TAB SPRINT - 1200m

MAGICAZ Absolutely smashed them first-up at Warwick Farm, it was an effortless win and in a really fast time for the day. She can only improve for that first-up run and the step up to 1200m should suit her even more. The claim for Heywood is an advantage and she will have the last shot at them.

WAITANDWATCH Has been a big winner at his first two runs this time in from a spell. He has run really good time at both runs too. This is a logical step as it’s a city meeting, but this is basically a midweek race. Good claim gets him to 57kgs and he has a chance.

STATIC LIFT Hit the line well enough first-up and looked as if he would improve for the run. We will know by race day if the form has stacked up from that race yet. He is a winner second-up in the past and is well suited back on the home track.

AARALYN Has trialled well enough leading into the first-up run here. Last prep she mixed her form, and at her best it would be good enough for this. She is a winner first-up in the past before and needs to be respected.

SELECTIONS: No 4 MAGICAZ, No 2 Waitandwatch, No 5 Static Lift, No 9 Aaralyn

VALUE RUNNER: No 5 Static Lift

R4 - 3:05PM TAB REWARDS MILE - 1600m

VIA NAPOLI Should be ready to break back into the winners circle now after three good runs this time in. The form around her in all three runs has been good enough for a race such as this and with Avdulla on from gate 6 she will be hard to beat.

ALL IN THE REFLEXS Ran them ragged at Kembla last start for a big win. She carried a big weight that day and gets in well here after the claim. She looks the logical leader yet again here and with a soft time in front she will be hard to run down.

DIXIE CHICK At her best she is good enough to blow this lot away, but I don’t know if her mind is on racing at the minute / does she like running with the pack? I’m happy that she is finally at the mile here as she has always looked as if it would suit her and she has a chance.

ASINARA Just like Dixie Chick, doesn’t look as if her mind is on racing at the minute. She looked like a world beater early on and hasn’t lived up to it as of yet. Up to the mile but with the big weight? I just don’t know what she’s going to do!

SELECTIONS: No 8 VIA NAPOLI, No 3 All In The Reflexs, No 2 Dixie Chick, No 1 Asinara

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 All In The Reflexs

ENCOSTANATI Trialled in blistering fashion leading into a first-up run here. His form last time in was fantastic and was mixing it with better horses than this, after the claim for Panya he gets in with 56kgs and will look to run them off their legs here.

OUR RENAISSANCE Should be better suited back to the 1000m here after a brilliant win fresh. She then went to 1100m second-up and just hit the wall late here and they ran solid time. Down to 55kgs now she will be let loose from the get go and it could be a battle between her and the toppie in the straight.

DAL CIELO May well be suited to what looks to be a hot speed here, he really warmed up late fresh at Muswellbrook over 1000m on a track that didn’t suit backmarkers. To Randwick second-up, after a fast, fast, fast trial! He could well blow them away.

COSMIC CAMEO Looks to get a sweet run here just off the speed, if they do go crazy enough in front and the backmarkers can’t reach them, this gelding looks to be in the sweet spot here, he may not be as classy as the others, but he gets the best run.

SELECTIONS: No 3 ENCOSTANATI, No 4 Our Renaissance, No 2 Dal Cielo, No 8 Cosmic Cameo

VALUE RUNNER: No 8 Cosmic Cameo

R6 - 4:20PM SUMMER CUP - 2000m

RED EXCITEMENT Tries 2000m for the first time here and the way he has been running this time in, it looks as if it will suit him. He has won at the mile multiple times in the past and this shouldn’t be a strong run 2000m, I liked the trial leading into this and he has to be respected.

MALICE Won the lead up in good fashion, that race was run brutally and Doyle produced this gelding with a brilliantly timed run to win well. He should take confidence from that win and if kept fresh enough as this looks a sit and sprint he will be in the finish again.

AMOVATIO Goes to 2000m on a 9-day backup from the Villiers where he finished off quite well. The 2000m looked as if it would suit there and at the weights he is quite attractive. Avdulla will give him every possible and he could be prominent.

FOREIGN PRINCE Looks to get a soft lead on the map here, he is quickly up to 2000m though and will need to dictate perfectly to run out the distance here. He has done that before with Panya on board and could skip away with it.

SELECTIONS: No 2 RED EXCITEMENT, No 3 Malice, No 1 Amovatio, No 7 Foreign Prince

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Amovatio

TRAFALGAR Has let the punters down in all runs this time in, but finds the weakest race that he has run in this prep. Up to 2400m suits him here and I like that Shinn has chosen him over last-start winner in Thewayweare and that just adds to confidence.

CHARLIE ROYALE Will give you everything he has, as all Cheers horses do. The run at Eagle Farm last start was good enough for a race such as this and if it turns into a last man standing type race, he will be there plugging away.

THEWAYWEARE Won well at the midweeks last start, a touch of a concern that Shinn jumps off in preference for Trafalgar here. This probably tells you that he is the inferior galloper to the toppie.

REFECTORY Comes up from Victoria after good runs in recent times. Usually Victorian horses are “pen jobs” when they come here, but in all honesty this is a super thin race and you have to respect the horses he has run against as of late.

SELECTIONS: No 2 TRAFALGAR, No 9 Charlie Royale, No 3 Thewayweare, No 1 Refectory

VALUE RUNNER: No 9 Charlie Royale

R8 – 5:40PM TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP - 1400m

CHAVISH Gets back onto a good track here after being bogged down at Canterbury last start. He had way too much to do there and you just need to forget that run. Before that his first-up run was fantastic when he hit the line powerfully. 1400m suits here and he will be hard to beat.

INVINCIBLE KNIGHT (In at Rosehill Saturday with no indication as of yet where he will run) Has had 2 solid hit outs coming into a first-up run here. His first-up form looks average, but just have a look at who he ran against! Last prep he was 4th to Silent Sedition (Group 2 horse). Like the 1400m kick-off point and after being scratched from a heavy track last week, this all tells me he is flying at home.

LYCIA (Best Roughie) Hasn’t been in the best of positions in both runs this time in. She is well weighted now after the claim and third-up from a spell she looks set to peak here, and will be running on late.

SNITZEL KNIGHT Hit the line well last start, he should find this race much easier than that. The big weight has been offset by the claim and if he can be a touch closer in the run he will be in the finish, in an even race.

SELECTIONS: No 5 CHAVISH, No 1 Invincible Knight, No 7 Lycia, No 3 Snitzel Knight
