There looks to be a few good bets for punters to fill up their bags for Christmas Day with the apprentice jockeys again the key here in most races. Trainers are keen to use their claims to their advantage. The rail is at the four-metre position and the track is rated perfect at a Good 4. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

R1 – 1.00pm Blue Star Group Handicap – 1400m

INVICTUM DOMINA In English means Indomitable Lady and she sure can be here racing against her own sex. She careered away to a 1 ¼ length win against her own age and sex here on December 7. Jack Martin’s 3kg claim sees her carry 57kg – a half kilo less weight here and she's hard to beat.

FILLE CHAMPAGNE Has been in striking form on the provincial tracks. Won at Pakenham before finishing a close second over 1400m at the same track on December 3. With Beau Mertens 2kg claim she carries 57.5kg. Craig Newitt rode last time on 54kg.

ALMA’S ROSSA Has been sparkling on the provincial circuits with a second and two wins at three starts this campaign. Latest was a big winner over 1300m at Warnambool on December 1. Jye McNeil’s claim eases her impost to 58kg.

LOVANI Is another showing dashing form on provincial tracks. She is chasing a hat-trick here after a blazing win over 1462m at Kilmore on December 12. Ace jockey Damien Oliver is the new rider and would show steady respect.

R2 – 1.35pm Yarramalong Racing Club Handicap – 1000m

CAPANNELLO Was placed in the Blue Diamond Prelude last summer. Was sent out a $1.75 favourite and won accordingly at Bairns over 1000m on December 13. Nathan Rose keeps the ride and he goes up 1.5kg to 59.5kg here because of his Listed placing. Top showing.

INVINCIBLE AL Won at Pakenham before finishing second down the straight six at Flemington on December 10. Tahlia Hope is the new rider and her 3kg claim reduces his impost to 57kg.

MR SNEAKY Made a great return when just going down over 1100m on a Heavy 8 at Kyneton on December 8. Apprentice Ben Allen is the new rider and his 2kg claim sees him carry 55kg. He could be the one to upset here on a firm track.

PEARL CONGENIAL Resumed from a long spell with a fighting win over 985m at Cranbourne on November 25. Apprentice Mitchell Aitken’s 3kg claim sees her carry no weight on 51.5kg. She has been kept fresh for this and is respected with no weight.

R3 – 2.10pm Argyle Maintenance Handicap – 1000m

CRYSTAL DREAMER Beat Amadeus easily at his first-up start over 1010m at Werribee on December 10. Was well backed into a $2.50 favourite and drops from 59.5kg to 57.5kg for this race. Makes good appeal.

DANCE WITH FONTEIN Posted an impressive win over 955m at Moonee Valley on December 9, Apprentice Jye McNeil keeps the ride but she goes up 2kg to 55.5kg here. Still she has a good weight.

BIG REEL Is a noted speedster who won over 955m at Moonee Valley before finishing sixth over 1000m at Pakenham on December 3. Senior rider Jason Benbow takes the ride here.

AMADEUS Will be out for revenge on Crystal Dreamer after having his colours lowered at Werribee on December 10. That was first-up and will be fitter now and with apprentice Beau Mertens 2kg claim carries no weight on 53kg.

R4 – 2.45pm Ridgeview Park Thoroughbred Stud Handicap - 1800m

MY SANCTUARY Gets her chance here with no weight on her back as apprentice Ben Allen’s claim reduces her handicap to 52kg. Fought all of the way last time to run third over 1600m here on December 7 when safe in the betting at $4.60.

ASHLEE MARIE Was a drifter in betting before finishing a slashing second over 1800m here against her own sex on December 7. Dwayne Dunn rode and she carried 60kg. She drops to 54kg here with lightweight rider Craig Newitt the pilot.

MOUNT OMEI Hails from the leading yard of Chris Waller. She will be strong after finishing second over 2040m at Moonee Valley on November 11. She again has no weight on 54kg with apprentice Regan Bayliss the new rider.

DOMINO VITALE Finished a hard fought second over 1600m against her own sex at Flemington on December 10. She lacks nothing in horsemanship with Damien Oliver the new pilot and is on 55.5kg.

R5 – 3.20pm Swettenham Stud Championships Heat 4 – 1400m

BURNING FRONT Looks set to break out here. Gave a game effort to chase hard when second in the Gold Bullion (1400m) at Pakenham on December 3.Was backed from $8 into $6 and with apprentice Jye McNeil’s 1.5kg claim carries 58.5kg and is drawn in one.

AIRALIGN Looms as the main danger here on his first-up second over 1200m at Kilmore on November 28. He plummets from 60.5kg to a mere 52kg with apprentice Ben Allen’s 2kg claim.

SOVEREIGN NATION Gets another chance after finishing last of seven in the Group 3 Sandown Stakes here on November 12. Apprentice Regan Bayliss rides on 54kg here and his previous form was rock solid.

BASSETT Might be better suited here around a bend than last start when finishing fourth down the straight 1200m at Flemington on December 10. Again has no weight on 54kg.

R6 -4.00pm Ladbrokes Up For The Challenge Handicap – 1600m

No6 REWARDING EFFORT (BEST BET) Should prove too strong with a big long straight to catch his opposition here. Scored a brilliant 4 ½ length win over 1600m at Mornington on December 14. Mark Zahra takes the reins from apprentice Ben Thompson and he carries the same weight on 57.5kg here. Smart customer and can fill the Christmas stocking.

No2 SHIKARPOUR (NEXT BEST BET) Is ticking over like a Rolex watch. He fought hard before finishing a narrow second as a $1.90 favourite over 2500m at Morphettville on December 10 when ridden by Daniel Moor on 56kg. He climbs to 58kg here with apprentice Ben Allen’s 2kg claim and he makes strong appeal.

PURE ADDITCTION (BEST ROUGHIE) Converted his good trial form to the racetrack with a brilliant 1 ¼ length win over 1200m at Sale on December 4. He is at better odds here than $3.10 last start. He goes up 2kg to 59.5kg for his win.

LABUAN STAR Was keen early but fought on well to post a narrow win over 1200m at Terang on December 5. Dean Yendall keeps the ride but he does rise 2kg for the effort to 59kg here.

DOWNHEARTED Not out of the place claims here on his first-up second over 1400m at Tatura on December 11. Beau Mertens is the new rider and will carry 58kg in a high-weight race.
