There is some talent at the meeting and punters may find some value in other races. The good news is fine weather is tipped after some freaky wet days in Victoria and South Australia this week. The track is rated as a Good 3 and the false rail will be at three metres from the 1000m to the winning post and at the true for the remainder of the track. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

No 2 HARD PROMISE (NEXT BEST BET) Strikes a field of mostly debutantes at his first start for new trainer Robert Smerdon. He was backed from $4 into $3.70 at his debut for Phillip Stokes when running a fighting second over 1050m at Morphettville on April 23. Gets experienced rider Noel Callow to steer and looks hard to beat.

SHARING Is a five-year-old mare with a perfect score of two starts for two wins first-up. She loves this track with a win and a third at three starts and has in-form apprentice Ben Allen riding.

NORTHKAPE Stormed home to post an imposing first-up win over 1000m here on December 10. Apprentice Nathan Punch’s 3kg claim sees him carry 54.5kg.

DECONI Gets her chance here fresh on her latest city form. She has a record of one start for a second at this track and with apprentice Michael Dee on top she makes appeal.

FLYING SPARK (BEST ROUGHIE) Can bounce back from fifth over 1100m at Bendigo on December 18. Regan Bayliss replaces Jake Noonan and she drops a kilo to 56kg and is well drawn in seven.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 Flying Spark

R6 – 9.00pm Browns Sawdust and Shavings Handicap BM64 – 1500m

DON’T PLEAD GUILTY Fought hard to gain the upper hand late and win by 1 ½ lengths over 1600m here on December 10. Can handle the extra 2kg on 60.5kg with new rider Ryan Maloney on top.

SAVATONE Did enough work second-up to suggest here when finishing fifth over 1421m at Geelong on December 15. Goes up 2.5kg to 60kg now but will be fitter.

STAR IMPULSE Fought hard to narrowly miss out last start over 1419m at Sale on December 22. Jamie Mott replaces 3kg apprentice Jack Martin and she is up a kilo to 59kg.

LUCKY PROSPECTOR Is searching for redemption after finishing last as a $4.40 favourite over 1500m at Mornington on December 20. Senior rider Noel Callow replaces a 3kg apprentice.

DUSTY JACK Was racing first-up off a 709-day break when finishing a fighting second over 1121m at Geelong on December 15. Will be fitter here and can repay those who took the $3.70 favouritism last time.

KAPARA Was steady at $7.50 when broke the ice at second start back over 1100m in a maiden at Moe on December 11. Has drawn 10 but Ryan Maloney sticks and respect.

EFFORTLESS POWER Is consistent and was a good effort when running second over 1200m here on December 10. Matthew Allen is the new rider.

HE’S HARRY Was backed from $9.50 into $6.50 before winning a 1200m maiden at Yarra Valley on December 16. With apprentice Chris Caserta’s 2kg claim carries 54kg.

No 10 ESSENCE OF TERROR (BEST BET) Has been flying landing two wins straight before finishing second as a $3.20 favourite over 1221m against her own sex at Geelong on December 15. She likes this distance and drops 1.5kg to 57.5kg on her last start with Chris Symons keeping the mount.
