Eagle Farm Betting Preview | Horse Racing Tips

Back to Eagle Farm for the second time in four days with the rail out 1.5 metres. There are capacity fields in most races which means a very tough day.

Fri, 30 Dec, 4:52 AM
Of late barriers have not been all that important but the major factor has been simple old luck. Also as we have pointed out on several occasions the best advice for betting at Eagle Farm is to look for horses who have raced well at the new track. At least no rain is forecast so all runners should get their chance.  QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 1,12/3,6/5/2,5
Wide: 1,3,10,12/3,4,6,8/1,4,5,7/1,2,5,14

Best Bet: R4 – 1. WINNING RUPERT
Next Best Bet: R7 – 5. CYLINDER BEACH
Best Roughie: R5 – 3. GOODFELLA

R1 - 12:27pm Coca Cola RQ Summer Provincial Series Final No Metro Wins Handicap - 1400m

BANDA SPICE Has finally started to live up to his early potential with wins at his past two starts. His best run was probably as second at this course back in October. Obviously a very hard race but he gets his chance here to make it a hat-trick.

I AM THE SCULPTOR He was disappointing last start after a brilliant first-up win. He will need luck but does have a lot of ability and the stable is firing.

D'HARMONY He has won three of his past four starts and was unlucky in his one defeat. A beautiful looking horse who is starting to live up to early promise.

KIM NOIR The stable has been trying to ride her with a sit off the pace and should be able to do that here. Looks the value here in a very tough race.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 BANDA SPICE, NO 7 I Am The Sculptor, NO 10 D'Harmony, NO 11 Kim Noir

R2 – 1.02pm Sky Racing Shoot Out Quality Handicap - 2200m

ANTON EN AVANT He is a specialist at this course and distance and ran very well last time at a shorter trip at Doomben. He is right down in the weights and will be finishing very quickly.

EMPHASIS Has had his best campaign to date with two wins including at his last start over 2000m He was once considered a Derby prospect so the 2200m should not trouble.

HIGH CHURCH Victorian visitor who has strong form in that area. It is usually a case of the southern stayers being too good for the Queensland horses.

ALL CLEAR Led all of the way to win a race here two starts back and not disgraced at last start. She is a stayer who doesn't always settle but she has been placed in much better races.

SELECTIONS: NO 5 ANTON EN AVANT, NO 6 Emphasis, NO 1 High Church, NO 2 All Clear

R3 – 1.37pm Gopher Coffee Falvelon Quality Handicap - 1000m

CASUAL CHOICE He looked very big in condition and had no luck when a first-up fifth. Much fitter now and has a good barrier draw so he should be in the finish.

HIDDEN PEARL Brilliant mare on her day and first-up here from a failure in stakes company in Sydney. Has run a very fast time winning this track and distance.

PROMPT RETURN Has been racing in handy fashion and the trainer-jockey combination have an outstanding strike rate. Has won this track and distance. Won a recent trial so fit for this.

HUSSON EAGLE Failed last start at Rosehill but better than that and could win without causing any surprises. On best Victorian form would win this and has had a go clockwise on several occasions and never out of the place this distance.

SELECTIONS: No 3 CASUAL CHOICE, NO 7 Hidden Pearl, NO 5 Prompt Return, NO 2 Husson Eagle

VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 Husson Eagle

R4 – 2.13pm. BRC VO Rogue Plate - 1300m

NO 1 WINNING RUPERT (BEST BET) It would be one of the greatest shocks of all time in Queensland racing history if he was to get beaten. At his first run back from a spell ran a course record winning here. Then ran the second-fastest 1200m ever recorded at Doomben when winning his last start. The only slight query would be the 1300m of this race. But he should win and although a short price should be better than bank interest.

R5 – 2.48pm Lilivale Stud B.J. McLachlan Stakes - 1200m

OURS TO KEEP Ran very fast time when won first-up last start. He is drawn ideally to lead or race on the pace here. He has shown he can take a sit or lead and is well placed at set weights.

GOODFELLA (BEST ROUGHIE) He has gradually got better with each run and has got out of the habit of being slow to jump. Can finish very quickly and if the pace is right on here watch out for him late.

TIARA STAR She is chasing a place in the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic here. Seems to have improved lengths since blinkers were added to her race gear.

SNITZKRAFT He was very good at his only start when he led from a wide barrier and was still in front with 100m to go. Has a bad barrier again.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 OURS TO KEEP, NO 3 Goodfella, NO 12 Tiara Star, NO 6 Snitzkraft

VALUE RUNNER: NO 3 Goodfella

R6 – 3.28pm Buffering Quality Handicap - 1300m

MOST IMPORTANT He is aiming for a $500,000 bonus if he can win this race. Has got up in the weights but this is no harder than recent wins in stakes company. One of the few horses who races better when he sweats up before a race so don't be put off if you see him a muck lather in the parade ring.

STEEL ZIP Nearly old enough to vote but he is racing as well as ever. Fast finishing second first-up at 1050m and much better placed at this track and distance.

TOO GOOD TO REFUSE One of the most consistent horses in training and can finish very fast. He just needs a touch of luck in the straight as he gets back in the field.

TRUBIA Class act on his day and needs a dry track which he should get here.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 MOST IMPORTANT, NO 4 Steel Zip, NO 6 Too Good To Refuse, NO 8 Trubia

R7 – 4.08pm Magic Millions Bernborough Quality Handicap - 1600m

NO 5 CYLINDER BEACH (NEXT BEST BET) Very impressive winner first-up and then had no luck when got back to last when second last time. He is still down in the weights and despite wide barrier should be closer in the run. He should be at his very top here.

R8 - 4.48pm Ubet Nudgee Quality Handicap - 1200m

SOLD FOR SONG Poorly drawn but she does get back in her races and can finish very hard. All she needs is to get a cart into the race and with her light weight she might storm over the top of these.

GLOBAL GLAMOUR A two-time Group One winner who is the obvious danger first-up here. She has a lovely barrier for her style of racing and must be respected despite the big weight.

ELEGANT COMPOSURE She was dynamic with her first-up win and then went too badly to be true last start. She can improve sharply providing it was just the second-up syndrome last start.

MISS COVER GIRL She has a big weight and a terrible barrier but she is a Group One winner at this track. Too good to leave out.

SELECTIONS: NO 5 SOLD FOR SONG, NO 2 Global Glamour, NO 6 Elegant Composure, NO 1 Miss Cover Girl

VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 Elegant Composure
