Some big storms have hit Brisbane in the past few days and the track will at the best have the sting out of it.

The rail is out 9.5 metres the entire course which means field sizes are relatively small. With the rail out so far it usually suits front runners for at least the first few races.

Also when the rail is out so far it is usually a day for upsets so tread softly.

QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 2,4/4,8/6,10/3,6
Wide: 2,4,7,6/2,3,4,8/4,6,8,10/1,3,6,10

Best Bet: R1 – 9. SNITZKRAFT
Next Best Bet: R4 – 1. DEEP IMAGE
Best Roughie: R6 – 8. CUSHION PINK

R1 – 12.25pm SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL QTIS 2-Y-O Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate - 1200m

NO 9 SNITZKRAFT (BEST BET) Unless one of the first starters is a hidden champion this should be a cake walk for Snitzkraft. He showed brilliant speed at his first start to be just run down on the line by a top flight colt. He was then well backed when caught very deep the whole way at his next start in a much better race. Drops sharply in class and very well suited at the Plate weight scale. Bred to be a duck on dam's side.

R2 – 1.05pm GIRL'S DAY OUT RACEDAY Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1350m

SCARLET BEGONIAS Surely this is the day for Scarlet Begonias as her three runs back from a long spell have been good. She has a claim here and the wet track will suit very well as she has been placed three times in rain affected conditions.

PINCENTIA At only start was a handy third at Ipswich after winning a trial in solid fashion. Hard to get a line on wet track form but most of the breed handle it.

DONT DOUBT DA WIFE Getting better with racing and a solid effort at Ipswich last start. Has a strong each-way chance.

THUMBS UP Form has been sound in easier races of late. She does look well placed here after the 3kgs claim.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 SCARLET BEGONIAS, NO 3 Pincentia, NO 6 Dont Doubt Da Wife, NO 4 Thumbs Up

R3 – 1.40pm WWW.BRC.COM.AU Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 2 Handicap - 1200m

PLAN RED He is never far away in these type of races and finished hard at the Sunshine Coast last start when second. This is a very even race but he does handle the wet and always a hope.

BEAT STREET A soft track winner who has been entered and scratched a few times lately. This race suits and he is a major player.

SI SI SEQUALO Most of his form is in shorter races but a chance here if he can get an easy lead. Like most of his sire's breed he handles the wet and this far easier than last start.

ZENDAYE He has been disappointing his two runs back from a break but a class act on his day. Has failed twice on wet tracks but both in much better races. He is by a sire of noted wet track runners.

SELECTIONS: NO 2 PLAN RED, NO 3 Beat Street, NO 6 Si Si Sequalo, NO 7 Zendaye

R4 – 2.15pm FAMILY FUN DAY 21ST JANUARY Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap - 1350m

NO 1 DEEP IMAGE (NEXT BEST BET) Again unless there is a hidden superstar in this race Deep Image should win by panels. He won a Sunshine Coast trial by lengths in a breeze and then at first race start was second to star colt Winning Rupert in a stakes race. A massive drop in class here and was scratched from the Magic Millions maiden on Saturday for this. The off spring of his sire usually are handy in the wet. If he gets beaten it would be a major shock.

R6 – 3.25pm VEUVE SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP Class 4 Handicap - 1650m

CUSHION PINK (BEST ROUGHIE) Hasn't had much luck since resuming from a spell and is better than recent form would suggest. She is a winner this track and also this distance. Has won twice in the wet and only real failure on a wet track it was a bog. She also has a 3kgs claim and looks great value.

SWEET SHAMROCK One of the most improved horses around and has won past three in impressive fashion. The trainer-jockey combination is going great and only worry would be a really wet track.

SKYTREK He is a most promising 1600m-2000m horse but can mix his form on occasions. Strong win first-up and has a 3kgs claim and very good soft track form.

HARADIFY Tries hard and has run seconds at past three runs. Always an each-way but no star on really wet tracks.

SELECTIONS: NO 8 CUSHION PINK, NO 4 Sweet Shamrock, NO 2 Skytrek, NO 3 Haradify

VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 Cushion Pink

R7 – 4.05pm RELAXED RACING BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1350m

LA CIGALE Gone for some value here with a last-start Coffs Harbour winner. Does handle wet tracks and this distance suits. Each-way hopes look best.

FLEUR D'ORAGE If the track happened to be heavy she will start a short priced favourite as she is an absolute swimmer. But on any surface she has a hope and does have the leading jockey in Jeff Lloyd.

KARAKABEEL Returned with strong win at the Gold Coast and is a horse who could make a nice stayer later in his career. Another who handles the wet.

IGNEOUS Always tries hard but doesn't win too many. This type of race does suit and has handy wet track form.

SELECTIONS: NO 6 LA CIGALE, NO 10 Fleur D'Orage, NO 8 Karakabeel, NO 4 Igneous

R8 – 4.45pm EVENTS AT BRC Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap - 1200m

SAYS ME Back in distance here to 1200m and that is the key. Goes well here without winning and also has handy wet form without winning. Can sit just behind the pace and finish over the top of these.

TEMPETE ROUGE Went from winning a maiden two starts back to winning a Class 3 and not many horses can do that. Wet track form is solid and should have won a maiden on a soft track when second last campaign.

MAGIC MOUSE Trialled fairly and then just average when fourth first up. But is handy on her day and has won on a soft track. Will be fitter here.

SHEEZALADY She has been a model of consistency and has paid the price by staying up in the weights. She gets a 3kgs claim here which gives her a chance to finally win a race.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 SAYS ME, NO 6 Tempete Rouge, NO 10 Magic Mouse, NO 1 Sheezalady

VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 Magic Mouse
