The weather prediction is for a sunny day with showers at night. Top temperature of 24C.

The rail will be at the TRUE position for the entire circuit.

The early prediction of a Good 4 track should be monitored through the evening to determine whether the forecast of showers has any marked effect on the track.

A couple of horses are on their “last chance” at this meeting. Hopefully they can finally make their mark for punters.

R5 – 8.00pm Ranges Hotel Gembrook F&M BM70 Handicap – 1400m

EXPINSIVE Resumed with comfortable win over Lika Shadow 1170m Wangarattta BM70 6 December then came from tail of field for fast-finishing 1.5-length fourth Violent Snow in high-quality BM84 Caulfield 1400m Boxing Day. Should be cherry-ripe for this and appeals with 1.5kg claim here.

BLITHE BELLE Improved by two average runs since overhauling Conspicuous Maid 1200m Caulfield Fillies Handicap 30 July. Just held her ground when six-length 10th Sullivan Bay 1200m Moonee Valley 31 December. Won third-up last preparation and looks nicely placed in this grade.

DEAL WITH IT Has two wins and two seconds from five starts on wet tracks and could have conditions to suit here. Sandown 1400m Maiden winner back in June who wasn’t suited by saucer track when five-length sixth to Sullivan Bay 1200m Moonee Valley 31 December. Forward showing expected.

JODI NICOLE Has a win and two placings from three starts and must be respected with light weight. Won 1400m Fillies-and-Mares Maiden Cranbourne 23 December then fighting 1.5-length third Roseberry Street, Olivia’s Gold BM64 same trip 6 January.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 Deal With It

R6 - 8.30pm PB Ronald Memorial BM70 Handicap – 1600m

No6 BATTLECAMP (BEST BET) Has a win and five placings from eight starts and gets his chance to return to the winning list here with blinkers going on. Hit the line hard first-up when close third Portman, Secret Prophet 1300m Bendigo BM70 18 December then almost fell early and trapped wide throughout when grinding 2.65-length sixth Sword Of Justice 1400m Sandown 4 January. Has been costly but only needs luck in running to beat these.

No3 HUNAMOSA

No8 INDRIK

No4 BIG KNIGHT

R7 – 9.00pm Cardinia Shire Cup BM70 – 1200m

TANGO ROCK Sandown 1400m winner over Divine Mr Artie last May. Has plenty of ability and gets his chance with two runs from a spell under his belt. Ran on gamely for length third Tykiato 1000m here 3 December then not suited by slow tempo when fifth Top Me Up 1300m Sandown 24 December. Has won in slow going and should have all the favours here.

HEZA DUDE Had support first-up but got too far back early when 4.65-length ninth Rocket Tommy 1000m Sandown BM70 4 January. Better suited in this grade and distance and likely to bounce back.

CORONATION TROUBLE Was having first run for a year when sound four-length fourth Princess Arrow 1100m Werribee BM70 5 January. Won previous two runs 1600m Cranbourne Maiden and Geelong 1235m Class One 26 December 2015. Fitter now and extra distance suits.

ARTIE FRED Likes it wet and will appreciate it if the sting is out of the ground here. Won three-straight slow tracks 1204m Donald and 1250m and 1200m races Morphettville last September. Wide throughout when first-up seventh One More Daisy Morphettville 1050m BM70 10 December. Likely improver.

SELECTIONS: No10 TANGO ROCK, No7 Heza Dude, No9 Coronation Trouble, No5 Artie Fred

VALUE RUNNER: No5 Artie Fred

R8 – 9.30pm Sportsbet Racing Form BM64 Handicap - 1400m

No3 JEST FOR THE ROAD (NEXT BEST BET) Two wins and two placings from four runs this campaign makes him the one to beat again. Beat subsequent winner Barmaid From Wye 1200m Moe BM58 then overcame slow getaway to win Kyneton 1450m 23 December. Just failed to catch Playful Rosie 1600m Werribee BM64 5 January. Racing in great heart and has won on soft going so he covers all bases.
