Moonee Valley Betting Preview | Horse Racing Tips.

Moonee Valley is notoriously regarded as a racetrack for punters, designed by bookmakers.

Thu, 19 Jan, 12:00 AM

Weather forecast is for cloudy conditions, with morning showers and a sunny afternoon. Top temperature 23C.

The track surface is rated a GOOD 4. The rail will be in the TRUE position for the entire circuit.

Moonee Valley is notoriously regarded as a racetrack for punters, designed by bookmakers. So, be careful to monitor the tendency for track bias. Having the rail at the True inside position should lessen the advantage to front-runners. However, it would pay to “go with the flow” if the leading divisions are tending to dominate results and if back-markers / swoopers are struggling to make up ground.

Hopelessly blocked until final 80m when nose second Pearl Congenial 1000m Sandown BM70 24 December then wasn’t given rein until final 50m when close third Capanello, Barthelona 1100m Flemington last Saturday. Beau Mertens’ 2kg claim makes him a great hope. Should go back from wide draw but will be pelting home.

STRICTLY LEGIT Very promising type who created huge impression on debut when he circled the field and cleared out to beat Bolossomo 1000m Mornington 20 December then made up ground late for two-length third Mystified 1100m Caulfield 7 December. Improved by that experience and rates highly with Mark Zahra going on.

MR SNEAKY Challenged on straightening and battled on gamely for half-length fourth Pearl Congenial, Invincible Al 1000m BM70 Sandown 23 December then relished blinkers to easily beat Chateau Cheval 1100m Werribee BM64. This is slightly tougher and he meets Invincible Al 2kg worse for Sandown defeat. Will be handy from barrier 1 and definitely has improved with blinkers on.
