Saturday racing comes to us from Royal Randwick yet again this week. We are at the headquarters of Sydney racing. Racing for 100k a race (minus the highway which gives us 14 horses) and we can only get 70 acceptances for the remaining 8 races with perfect weather / a good 4 track and the rail true.

QUADDIES (Races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny: 1,9 – 1 – 5,6,10 – 3,4,6
Wide: 1,3,4,5,9 – 1 – 4,5,6,10 – 2,3,4,5,6,10

Next Best Bet: R7 N1 ECUADOR
Best Roughie: R9 N3 GOT THE GOSS

EDEN ROC Is supremely well bred and has trialled super on two occasions leading into a debut run this preparation. He led in the first trial and kicked away for a nice win. The second trial he sat off them and worked to the line well. I like that he has shown that tactical versatility. From gate 2 he should jump and run and be hard to beat.

WATCHDOG Behind Eden Roc in his only trial at Rosehill and he wasn’t knocked around in that. He looks as if he had some gears “under the hood” in that trial. With a host of gear changes from that trial to debut and the way Godolphin 2yos are going, this is a chance.

PANDEMONIUM Will hit the ground running from barrier 11 here and with the blinkers on for the debut run. She has trialled on three occasions and I have no knock on them. She seems a big price for a Gai runner on debut at home!

ULTRAMARINE Has had three trials coming into this debut run and looks to have plenty of ability. He has improved with each trial leading into his debut runner and with “Team Capitalist” combining again, you need to respect them.

SELECTIONS: No 2 EDEN ROC, No 7 Watchdog, No 10 Pandemonium, No 6 Ultramarine

VALUE RUNNER: No 10 Pandemonium

R2 – 1:20PM WILKES QUALITY - 1000m

No 1 GUARD OF HONOUR (Best Bet) Has a lap on this lot ability wise, it is just whether or not he is wound up or not for a first-up run over 1000m. He has won two of three runs first-up, over 1000m and 1100m. His defeats have come in debut behind Tessera / Defcon and last start behind Spright. That is more than good enough for this. With the booking of Bowman and two solid trials coming in, should win this.

HARLEM LADY Let’s cut to the chase, she has been disappointing through her career, but was absolutely slaughtered last start at Warwick farm. She appears here, blinkers first time as a Zabeel mare gives a massive tick, as does the booking of Bowman. She has to be on top with all those positive changes.

ANISHA Should be much better suited here. She jumped way on grade to run in a Group race last week and she wasn’t at all well placed there. To the open expanses of Randwick and a wide gate in this field she will be much more comfortable. Don’t get worried if she drops the bit at the 600m as that’s how she races.

LYCIA Won well last start at Warwick Farm and steps to the mile for the first time in her career. Off her last-start win, she looks as if she will get it. The small field will suit her and from gate 1 she is going to get a super soft run and has a chance to go back to back.

JACQUI’S JOY Comes to Sydney off the back of a good win at the midweeks last start in Melbourne. I usually pen Melbourne horses when they come here, but at mares' grade and coming off a win, they can gain that confidence / springboard.

SELECTIONS: No 1 HARLEM LADY, No 4 Anisha, No 2 Lycia, No 3 Jacqui’s Joy

NIC'S VENDETTA Deserves to win a highway and gets his chance here first-up from a spell with Bowman aboard. The trial coming in was quite good. His highway form is impeccable and from barrier 1, hopefully Bowman sits a pair behind them and pounces at the top of the rise.

CLIPPER Hard not to be impressed with how she has gone about it this time in with two wins in her first two starts. It’s a good time to bring her to town to take advantage of the prizemoney on offer. She has improved with each run this time in and if she does again, she will be hard to beat.

SUPER STAR BOB Ran a super-fast time in debut at Canberra coming home in 33.8 for his last 600m which was super-fast time for the day there. Second start straight to the city, Dale must have a big opinion of this Mossman gelding to bring him here and you need to respect the placement.

CARE TO THINK Won well on debut at the Gold Coast. Dunn and highways have been printing money as of late, but I think this horse needs further than the 1200m and may get too far out of his ground.

SELECTIONS: No 2 NIC'S VENDETTA, No 6 Clipper, No 10 Super Star Bob, No 12 Care To Think

VALUE RUNNER: No 10 Super Star Bob

BURNING ENERGY If he doesn’t need a lie down after last week’s monster effort he should be winning this. We all saw what happened last week, they went mad in front and he was just off them and somehow held on for third. Seven-day backup and a 3kg claim have him well in and he is hard to beat.

MULTIFACETS Has trialled well between runs and comes off a good effort last start at Rosehill. He should now be ready for 2000m, the weight is the issue for me, as he is yet to carry a big weight and win.

UNBIASED Comes out of the race behind Burning Energy at Canterbury last start and he found the line well. He should be ready for 2000m now after a good grounding leading into this. Doyle jumps aboard and there is no one else you’d rather be on a stayer at the moment.

MANHATTAN SON Also comes out of the Burning Energy race at Canterbury, he hit the line quite well there. The step up to 2000m as well as the open expanses of Randwick suit.

SELECTIONS: No 2 BURNING ENERGY, No 1 Multifacets, No 5 Unbiased, No 8 Manhattan Son

VALUE RUNNER: No 8 Manhattan Son

LIAPARI Comes here on the seven-day backup and gets a good weight drop. Avdulla on is also a bonus. I think that a mile is his best distance and on the quick turnaround I want him on my side here.

CAUTHEN'S POWER Won well last start and had a perfect set up for the race that day. Two weeks between runs and staying at the mile on top of the ground suit perfectly. If he hasn’t gone backwards since that last start run he has his chance here.

SONG AND LAUGHTER Third-up to the mile should be well suited and ready to go now. Her last start third should not be mistaken. She was smashed in a four-horse race. The first-up run however was super. The mile suits, but she would like some cut out of the ground and that would enhance her chances.

SABINO SPEED Backs up quickly here after an even sort of an effort last week. His record at the mile isn’t the greatest as his six wins have come from 1200m-1400m. But after last week I think he is looking for it now and has a chance here.

SELECTIONS: No 9 LIAPARI, No 1 Cauthen’s Power, No 3 Song And Laughter, No 4 Sabino Speed

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 Song And Laughter

No 1 ECUADOR (Next Best Bet) Gets all favours with the small field here. He was fantastic upon resuming when toughing it out with 62kgs. He has had four weeks to get over that run which should have him nice and fresh here. This race is no tougher than his first-up run. Gai horses at home have a great record and if he gets his own way in front they won’t be running him down.

R8 – 5:00PM HUAWEI HANDICAP - 1400m

LOUIE SEA KAY Backs up after a solid effort last week where he wasn’t at all suited. Rail back to the true position helps him here as he will find the lane about six horses off the fence which will have him right in the finish here.

KING DARCI Has been in great form this time in and gets another chance to win here. The last-start win was tough and he was too good for them. He should be able to sit just off them and with even luck he is in the finish.

IMANUI Missed the kick by three lengths last start and that was the end of the race for him. He hit the line powerfully there for a run which said “be on me next start” he drops well in weight here and I think everyone would be cheering for Ron Quinton here.

GOT UNDERS Didn’t have much luck last week at Canterbury, the winner was off and gone and he was stuck on the fence and only got clear late to just miss in the finish. Down in the weights to 54kgs he gets his chance here.

SELECTIONS: No 6 LOUIE SEA KAY, No 5 King Darci, No 10 Imanui, No 4 Got Unders

VALUE RUNNER: No 4 Got Unders

GOT THE GOSS (Best Roughie) Brings an amazing first-up record to this race of four wins from five starts and has trialled up in super fashion leading into this run. His form last prep was in better races than this. He has had a good break and 1200m at Randwick suits. Matty Cahill is riding winner after winner at the minute and he has a big hope here.

DEPLOY Has come back in dynamic fashion this time in with two wins from as many starts at Canterbury. He steps up in grade again, but as mentioned before he has above average ability and can keep climbing through the grades here.

SUSPENSE Got a late split and charged at the line when winning last start, I am to assume instructions will be the same as that turn of foot was dynamic. He looks to be back in form and has his chance.

NOBLE JOEY Will be thereabouts yet again as he has been running quite well in all runs this time in without being able to break through. 53.5kgs gives him his chance.

SELECTIONS: No 3 GOT THE GOSS, No 6 Deploy, No 4 Suspense, No 12 Noble Joey

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 Got The Goss
