All happening on the glitter strip @ GCTC

We don't want to sound like cry-babies but south east Queensland's weather is making it harder to tip a winner in recent weeks. A case in point was Eagle Farm on Saturday where rain in the afternoon led to mass late scratchings. It not only changed the race patterns but also the actual track surface - it went from the fence being the place to be to having good and bad patches the length of the straight. There has been rain at the Gold Coast and the track will at best have the sting out of it but as we saw on Magic Millions day a good breeze will see it dry out quickly. Nevertheless the Gold Coast has been playing truly, wet or dry, with all runners getting their chances. It should be noted this is classed as a provincial meeting so some of the apprentice allowances are different. The main midweek meeting is on Thursday but surprisingly it is a better standard horse wise than Thursday with some smart horses engaged here. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 3,7,9/1,9/3,10/6
Wide: 3,7,9,11/1,2,3,9/1,3,10/3,6,7,11

Best Bet: R7 – 3. SOCIAL VAMPIRE
Next Best Bet: R4 – 1. SCARLET BEGONIAS
Best Roughie: R5 – 7. HIDDEN LIGHT.

R1 – 12.40pm MAYFORD CONTRACTING QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 1200m

JUNCTION A first starter but trialled very well when he easily won a Gold Coast trial. Trained this track which is an advantage. This isn't strong.

MILLY MUNCHER Improved about ten-lengths on first start last when second at next start at Eagle Farm Showed a lot of pace.

JINX ‘N’ DRINX Not a bad run at first start when fourth to a future star at Doomben. Should be improved by that run.

ANDRUM An experienced two-year-old who usually is about the pace. Has had every chance latest few but not bad at the finish.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 JUNCTION, NO 5 Milly Muncher, NO 4 Jinx ‘N’ Drinx, NO 1 Andrum

VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 Jinx ‘N’ Drinx

R2 – 1.15pm BARRIER REEF POOLS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap - 1200m

REDSSON He has generally been a disappointment but he goes well fresh and has won this track. Not a bad trial when third but not asked to do much last week.

CHIN CHUN Has a terrible win strike rate but usually not far from the place money. This type of race suits and has a good each-way hope.

SPIRAL Former Victorian with solid form at the provincials there. But he has been impressive in winning two recent trials in the northern rivers. The stable is always a threat this track.

KAPGUN He is probably best on his home track at the Sunshine Coast but does go well this distance and not harshly weighted for a last-start winner.

SELECTIONS: NO 2 REDSSON, NO 1 Chin Chun, NO 4 Spiral, NO 5 Kapgun

R3 – 1.50pm STUART JAMES 10 YEAR MEMORIAL Colts,Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap - 1300m

AGREE TO He has run five minor placings in nine starts. Just can't find the winning post first. But he has been placed first-up and strong hopes here.

EVERY SINGLE ONE Has had three trials in the past six weeks for this comeback run. Good only start when fourth this track and has to be respected.

DEFECTIVE First starter who is a stablemate of Crackacharge. Bred to get further but did go okay in a recent jump out.

SELECTIONS: NO 1 Agree To, NO 8 Every Single One, NO 3 Defective

VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 Every Single One

R4 – 2.25pm JUPITERS Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1300m

NO 1 SCARLET BEGONIAS (NEXT BEST BET) We keep tipping her and she keeps running very good seconds. Beaten a nose last start when should have won. One last chance here as it looks to have little depth.

R5 – 3.05pm ATTWOOD MARSHALL Class 2 Handicap - 900m

MINI MELD There are big wraps on this mare but she has had her problems. She hasn't raced for over a year but this distance and race suits.

HIDDEN LIGHT (Best Roughie) Forget her last-start failure when she bungled the start. Goes well this track and distance and will be good odds.

SELECTIONS: NO 3 MINI MELD, NO 7 Hidden Light, No9 Apple Jack, No11 Suite Mover

VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 Hidden Light

R6 – 3.45pm BRUCE LYNTON JAGUAR Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap - 1200m

COLLAR’S UP We have gone for some value here with Collar’s Up who showed a lot of heart to win last start at big odds for us. This is harder but has a light weight.

FLO JO SNIP She is a very fast mare who usually leads in her races. Has not been out of the place her past five starts and only risk will be the last 100m.

FORBIDDEN KISSES She doesn't win many but usually about the place and will be fitter for recent racing.

ALL THAT IS Another honest mare who has had plenty of chances but bobs up for the occasional win.

SELECTIONS: NO 9 COLLAR’S UP, NO 1 Flo Jo Snip, NO 3 Forbidden Kisses, NO 2 All That Is

VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 Collar's Up

R7 – 4.20pm COMMERCIAL KITCHEN Class 2 Handicap - 1400m

NO 3 SOCIAL VAMPIRE (BEST BET) Promising filly who showed a lot of ability late in her two- year-old and early in her three-year-old seasons. Taking on older horses here but a strong winner last start and should be too good for these.

R8 – 5.00pm HOT TOMATO Class 5 Handicap - 1400m

SLYDINI He does race best with the sting out of the track but very good third in a far stronger race this track two weeks ago. Only has to match that to win.

COMACINA Only a fair effort first-up but he usually improves with racing and this type of race suits.

STAROCITY Another who was only fair first-up but on his form last campaign would be hard to beat here. He has a good second-up record.

SELECTIONS: NO 6 SLYDINI, NO 3 Comacina, NO 7 Starocity

VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 Starocity
