Weather forecast is for a Fine /Partly Cloudy day with a maximum 24C. The track surface is rated a GOOD 3. The rail will out 6 metres for the entire circuit. The puzzle for punters in the feature two-year-old Blue Diamond Previews will be deciding between the colts and fillies with race experience, opposed to those making their first racetrack appearances. With the Blue Diamond finale and Golden Slipper Stakes beckoning, we are likely to see the emergence of at least one top-liner from the Caulfield program. QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny: 2,4,5 / 2,5,6 / 3,6,8 / 2,10,11
Wide: 1,2,4,5 / 1,2,4,5,6 / 1,3,4,6,8,9,10 / 2,4,6,10,11

Best Bet: R4 – 2. TULIP
Next Best Bet: R6 – 5. ASTLEY

R1 – 1.35pm Anne Billings Handicap – 2000m

FALIKA Has won last three starts impressively and is going through her grades brilliantly. Circled the field and sustained the run to narrowly defeat General James 1962m Yarra Valley BM64 29 December then ploughed through the heavy 8 conditions to beat highly-rated Erector by seven-lengths 2080m Cranbourne BM70 13 January. Is really charging through the line and will appreciate dropping back to mares’ grade here.

ROYAL APPLAUSE Runner-up last four starts against the boys and should be ideally suited with the step up in distance. Chased home the smart Plein Ciel 1600m Caulfield BM70 Boxing Day then hit the lead at 200m when 1.5-length second Skulduggery 1700m here 7 January. Chance to break back into the winners’ list.

ASHLEE MARIE Endured tough runs last two in good company and drops back to her own sex here. Hit lead on straightening and battled on for length third Oncidium Ruler 2400m Sandown BM70 4 January then trapped wide when fading 10-length 10th Crocodile Rock same trip 18 January. This is slightly easier.

MY SANCTUARY Chased doggedly when 2.25-length second Vandancer 1800m Sandown BM84 24 December then same throughout when nine-length fourth Honey Cara 2000m Flemington 14 January. Has each-way claims.

SELECTIONS: No3 FALIKA, No9 Royal Applause, No5 Ashlee Marie, No4 My Sanctuary

R2 – 2.10pm Clanbrooke Racing Handicap – 1400m

SUMMER WIND Got well back as favourite but hit the line better than anything when fast—finishing 2.75-length eighth Crystal Fountain 1200m Moonee Valley BM70 then sprinted clear at 200m and held off That Rings A Bell 1300m Sandown Maiden 11 January. Meets Crystal Fountain 2kg better here and suited by 1400m.

CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN Promising filly who completed winning hat-trick when she held off Witches and Written Return 1200m Moonee Valley BM70 31 December. Ran off track last 50m last start so she will be further improved. Wide draw is main concern.

DOMESTICATED Consistent and sure to be in the placings again. Chased home Astley, with subsequent winner Bush Flight third, 1400m Sandown Maiden 7 December then finished too well for Linguist 1600m Morningtoon Maiden one week later. Fresh for this and commands respect.

KENEDNA Overhauled Big Spender to win 1200m Echuca BM64 second-up 19 December then came from last for promising three-length fourth Oak Door1400m Flemington last Saturday week. Back to her own sex here and should be running on.

SELECTIONS: No8 SUMMER WIND, No1 Crystal Fountain, No3 Domesticated, No2 Kenedna

VALUE RUNNER: No3 Domesticated

R3 – 2.45pm Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) – 1000m

OVERSHARE $320,000 I Am Invincible colt who showed he was ready to win on debut with two soft Flemington jump-outs in preparation for this. Drawn ideally in barrier 3 and should make his presence felt.

PROPERTY Led and hung out final stages when gritty 2.25-length second to the smart Catchy 1100m this track on debut 7 January. Bound to be improved by that experience and rates highly here.

WAIT FOR NO ONE Led throughout on debut to beat Spoils over this trip Debutant Stakes 8 October then kicked at 400m to lead momentarily when gutsy two-length third Aspect Flemington straight 1000m 5 November. Meets Azazel on same terms for neck margin last start. Will be prominent.

AZAZEL Impressive debut winner 1000m Moonee Valley 22 October then bumped at start and fought on gamely for 2.5-length fourth Aspect 1000m Flemington straight 1000m 5 November. Improved by recent trial but drawn wide here.

SELECTIONS: No8 OVERSHARE, No3 Property, No2 Wait For No One, No1 Azazel

VALUE RUNNER: No8 Overshare

R4 – 3.20pm Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) – 1000m

No2 TULIP (BEST BET) Couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when she trailed the field then sprouted wings to surge clear of Pure Emotion 1000m Moonee Valley 31 December. She looks to be an exceptional filly with even further room for improvement. Should test these.

R5 – 4.00pm Swettenham Stud Summer Championship Final – 1700m

KAPOUR Was spruiked as a Caulfield Cup contender last year and looks nicely-placed in this company. Ran fifth to Almoonquith, Dandino 2400m Geelong Cup last October. Solid first-up third Religify 1600m Randwick 14 January. Drawn to get a good passage and rates highly.

LUCKY PADDY Very honest and will give a good account of himself. Fought on strongly to beat Patch Adams 1700m Cup Warrnambool soft track 27 December then favourite when game half-length fourth Refulgent same trip 8 January. Meets Refulgent 2kg better here.

OUR BOTTINO Won three on end over 1600m on Pakenham synthetic track June-July before first-up ninth Bradman 1400m here 7 January and easy 3.5-length win over Show A Star 1600m Camperdown Cup one week later. Will go forward and should take catching again.

REFULGENT Led and stacked them up when nose winner over Dodging Bullets Warrnambool 1700 Koroit Cup 8 January then boxed on well for 3.6-length fourth Burning Front 1500m Moonee Valley last Saturday. Meets Dodging Bullets 2kg better for beating him. Chance on the back-up.

SELECTIONS: No2 KAPOUR, No4 Lucky Paddy, No5 Our Bottino, No1 Refulgent

R6 -4.40pm Moorookyle Park Thoroughbred Stud Handicap – 1600m

No5 ASTLEY (NEXT BEST BET) Promising type who will appreciate the step up to 1600m here. Overcame slow getaway to beat Domesticated, Bush Flight strong 1400m Maiden Sandown 7 December then changed stable and ran home strongly for third Oak Door, Cliff Hanger BM74 same trip 4 January. Both races produced several subsequent winners so he should continue the trend here.

R7 – 5.20pm John Dillon Stakes – 1400m

DUKE OF BRUNSWICK Solid effort first-up when wide throughout and ran on gamely for 2.5-length fourth Lucky Liberty, Grande Rosso 1200m here on Boxing Day. Beat Ulmann over this trip four runs earlier last July and will get a much better run from barrier 5 here. Meets Grande Rosso 1kg better for 1.2-lengths and has excellent second-up record.

GRANDE ROSSO Three wins and a second from last five starts suggests he will figure in the finish again. Game 1.25-length second Lucky Liberty 1200m here Boxing Day then favourite when strong winner over Zupacharged Listed Manifold Stakes this trip last Saturday week. Meets Zupacharged 2.5kg worse here.

REAL LOVE Quality staying mare who usually goes well fresh and did win Listed Race in Perth first-up 1400m October 2015. Trainer says she’s coming along beautifully so expect a forward showing.

SELECTIONS: No8 Duke Of Brunswick, No3 Grande Rosso, No1 Real Love

R8 – 5.55pm Plate – 1200m

RICH CHARM May have been suffering from ‘second-up syndrome’ when four-length fourth Rocket Tommy Flemington straight 1100m last Saturday week. Beat Lord Von Costa 1000m and third Spieth 1100m Flemington starts last June before spell. Should be at peak now and won third-up last campaign. Chance to atone.

JALAN JALAN Showed potential last season but battled in Listed and Group company last two starts. Showed good dash in recent Caulfield jump-out and has a good first-up record. Keep safe.

ROMAN FIZZ Has won four of last six starts and has to be respected despite rising 2.5kg on last start win over Devils Pinch 1200m Moonee Valley BM78 31 December. Drawn wide but is too good to discard.

STELLAR COLLISION Meets Roman Fizz 3kg better for 2.25-length fourth to that horse 1200m Moonee Valley BM78 31 December then chased hard but faded slightly last 50m when 4.65-length sixth Rocket Tommy Flemington straight 1100m 14 January. Meets Rich Charm 1kg better for 0.65-length margin last start. Worth another chance.

SELECTIONS: No11 RICH CHARM, No10 Jalan Jalan, No2 Roman Fizz, No4 Stellar Collision
