Australia Day racing from Royal Randwick. You can just feel it heating up, the better horses are coming back and are on the cusp of returning. Solid meeting here looking forward to getting into it. The weather is hot in the lead up and it should be good and the rail is out 3m the circumference. QUADDIES (Races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny: 13 – 3 – 3 – Field
Wide: 3,6,13 – 2,3 – 2,3,7,9,12 - Field

Best Bet: R1 N1 HARPER’S CHOICE
Next Best Bet: R5 N13 PUMKIN PIE
Best Roughie: R8 N3 IRON GEORGE

R1 -1:20PM #THERACES HANDICAP - 1800m

No 1 HARPER'S CHOICE (Best Bet) Smashed them last start at Canterbury and didn’t give the others a chance. The form has held up out of that race since too. Back to Randwick a slight query as he was defeated at the T&D two starts back. But this is weaker and he should be winning.

No 2 SIZZLING BULLET

No 4 WU GOK

No 6 GOLD ARTISAN

R2 – 1:55PM TAB.COM.AU PLATE – 1200m

DRACHENFELS Has been gelded finally and he may well live up to his ability. Has been beaten at short quotes in each start. The form around him is fantastic (Comin Through and Detective). The trial was good and he is hard to beat.

LAUNCH CODE Was beaten at a short quote on debut, but didn’t have the best of luck. Second-up and back at home – he should derive plenty of benefit from the first start experience.

SHACKLETON Is an expensively bought colt and was underwhelming on debut. The form out of that race since has held up quite well. The freshen between runs and 1200m look suitable here.

WAYANKA Has trialled well in the lead up to the fresh run here. She was good at her most recent start at Kembla and needs to be respected.

SELECTIONS: No 3 DRACHENFELS, No 6 Launch Code, No 9 Shackleton, No 10 Wayanka

R3 -2:30PM HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP - 1100m

TO BE SURE Gave them no chance first-up and ran them into the ground. How does she not improve from that? She was wide throughout and gave them a beating. She gets all favors and is hard to beat.

SHAHRAZAD Didn’t have much luck last start at Canterbury, she comes to her home track here and looks to get a good run in transit.

GRETNA Has quite good form around her without winning last prep. It is better than this, but I’m not sure of how Waller’s stable is going at the minute hence why she isn’t on top.

CHOSEN PRAYER Won well at Highway level last start and that was coming off some good runs. This is essentially a midweek race and looks a logical next step for her.

SELECTIONS: No 2 TO BE SURE, No 7 Shahrazad, No 9 Gretna, No 5 Chosen Prayer

VALUE RUNNER: No 2 To Be Sure

R4 - 3:05PM TAB HANDICAP - 1800m

TAHSIN Should be suited by the winkers going on for the first time here. He is still super green in his races and it cost him last start. With that addition plus the step up to 1800m he looks perfectly suited here.

LORD DE AIR Was just beaten last start in a driving finish at Canterbury. He had jumped quickly up to 1550m there and it told on him late. Again goes up quickly to the 1800m, but after the claim he gets his chance.

OBSIDIAN Should find this easier than his last start behind Classic Uniform. I love the jump up to 1800m, he ran through the line powerfully last time and looks suited.

MURRAGULDRIE Was solid last start at Canterbury. He is a winner over 1900m in the past, so the 1800m of Randwick shouldn’t bother him at all.

SELECTIONS: No 4 TAHSIN, No 1 Lord De Air, No 3 Obsidian, No 5 Murraguldrie

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 Lord De Air

R5 – 3:40PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP - 1400m

No 13 PUMPKIN PIE (Next Best Bet) Ran through the line really well first-up behind Improvement. The step up to 1400m here looks just perfect. Hopefully she has curbed her racing manners as she was quite keen early in the run there. Claiming down to just 50kgs gets her in amazingly well at the weights and she will be hard to beat.

No 6 RECKLESS RUSSELL

No 3 I AM IMPRESSED

No 1 ARIGOLD

R6 -4:20PM VILI'S PIES AUSTRALIA DAY CUP - 2400m

CENTRE PIVOT Comes back to Sydney after a not so lucky run at the Magic Millions meeting. He may not have won, but should have finished closer. He is the “other” form coming into this and should be hard to beat.

INDEX LINKED Gets his chance to win a race here after a solid building run last start. I think he turns the table on Destiny’s Kiss and have him ahead of him here. The trial between runs was good.

DESTINY'S KISS Won well two starts back at the T&D, but on a rock hard track I’m not too sure if he can do the same here. The Gosford run was ok.

THE RUMOUR FILE Should be fitter for his last-start run in what was an amazingly run race. He ran through the line well enough there. Down in the weights he could surprise.

SELECTIONS: No 3 CENTRE PIVOT, No 2 Index Linked, No 1 Destiny’s Kiss, No 5 The Rumour File

VALUE RUNNER: No 5 The Rumour File

R7 - 5:00PM TOOHEYS NEW HANDICAP - 1000m

HANWRITTEN Has the ability to run some serious times and looks well set up to do the same again here. He ran 56.92 at the T&D last preparation in a highway. He is better than that grade and looks hard to beat.

RAIDO Won well last start and looks well suited yet again here. He is well weighted after the claim and has a chance.

WIDE ACCLAIM Gets a good weight drop and looks well suited after being beaten in the shadows of the post last time. Back to 1000m looks to suit and with the right run in transit, he’s hard to beat.

DUTY DUDE Ran them into the ground at the Gold Coast running serious time for his last 600m (33.12) to Randwick and 1000m shouldn’t worry him whatsoever given the way he ran through the line. It’s just the trip up and back to Queesland that could be a worry.

SELECTIONS: No 3 HANWRITTEN, No 2 Raido, No 7 Wide Acclaim, No 9 Duty Dude

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 Wide Acclaim

R8 – 5:40PM TAB REWARDS HANDICAP - 1200m

IRON GEORGE (Best Roughie) Was run down late in the piece last start by a horse who had won three on end. The form out of that race should stack up quite well. Previous to that he carried 62kgs when winning. So the big weight shouldn’t be an issue.

PICK ME UP On the quick backup looks well suited here. He was solid off the break at Canterbury and the open expanses of Randwick should suit quite well and he has his chance here.

AARALYN Comes out of a solid form race last start and has been freshened up since. There looks to be a sense of timing about this galloper here and from barrier 1 she is going to have every possible chance.

ALPEN ROSE Just got beaten by a better ride last time at Canterbury. The form from that race should hold up well enough. She goes well down in the weights here and with even luck she is going to be in the finish.

SELECTIONS: No 3 IRON GEORGE, No 7 Pick Me Up, No 10 Aaralyn, No 11 Alpen Rose

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 Iron George
