JENNIFER LYNN Really emerged as a top-liner last campaign and did score first up over 1100m Werribee. Stormed home from last on turn to beat Prompt Response 1400m this track 1 November then raced handy and fought on gamely for third Morton’s Fork, Ruthven Group Two Sandown Guineas 1600m 12 November. Should have too much class for these.

PEARL CONGENIAL Has won both runs this time in and bound to make her presence felt again. Too good for Airino 985m Fillies-and-Mares Maiden 25 November then held on to beat Invincible Al 1000m Sandown 24 December. Will go forward and will take running down again.

SCAPPARE Won twice at Mornington 1000m Maiden and BM58 grades then blocked for run final stages when fourth Into Orbit 1000m Sandown last Wednesday week. This is tougher but she has sound each-way claims.

NAVAGIO Won first up Sale 1100m Maiden 23 October then set aside after taking on top company when 14th Spright 1100m Flemington Red Roses Stakes 3 November. Impressed in recent Caulfield jump-out to indicate she’s ready to run well fresh. Keep safe.

SELECTIONS: No1 JENNIFER LYNN, No2 Pearl Congenial, No3 Scappare, No4 Navagio

R2 – 1.35pm Owner.racing.com Handicap – 1400m

CAT’S WISH (Best Roughie) Improved by two runs after a long spell and looks ready to run a big race here. Led on straightening and showed plenty of fight until her condition gave out final 50m when length fourth Aurora Glow, Diamond Baroness 1300m Sandown 4 January. Has five changes in gear, including Blinkers first time, and meets New Summer Night and Diamond Baroness on better weight terms here.

DIAMOND BARONESS Cramped for room while winding up and looked unlucky when nose second Aurora Glow 1300m Sandown Fillies-and-Mares BM78 4 January then carried 60kg to easily beat Single Note 1400m Pakenham BM70 last Thursday week. Won two of three this distance and drops 5.5kg here.

NEW SUMMER NIGHT Has rattled home three runs since beating Lasayette 1300m Sandown Fillies-and-Mares BM70 7 December and will be running on again. Beaten 1.15-lengths when fifth Aurora Glow, Diamond Baroness 1300m Sandown 4 January then cut back to inside for clear run when length second Deja Blue this trip last Saturday week. Meets Diamond Baroness 1.5kg better for a length and Deju Blue 2.5kg better.

DEJA BLUE Has won three of last six outings and always well placed against her own sex. Took on the boys when plugging 10th Snitzson over this trip New Year’s Day when darted clear at 200m to beat New Summer Night this trip last Saturday week. Always shows up in this company.

SELECTIONS: No6 CAT’S WISH, No4 Diamond Baroness, No7 New Summer Night, No2 Deja Blue

VALUE RUNNER: No6 Cat’s Wish

R3 – 2.10pm ATA Celebrates 50 Years Handicap – 1400m

WIDGEE TURF Finished powerfully, despite hanging in final 150m, when 0.75-length second Oak Door over this trip last Saturday week. Meets that galloper 2kg better here and should be in a striking position from barrier six. Right at his peak now and drops from 58.5kg to 53.5kg.

OAK DOOR Free-going type who is chasing a winning hat-trick here. Had an easy run in front when 0.75-length winner over Widgee Turf this trip two weeks ago. Will have to work harder from barrier 11 here but should be in front for a long way.

MR SNEAKY Honest little fellow who showed the benefit of blinkers when he easily beat Chateau Cheval 1100m Werribee BM64 5 January then held up before turn when solid 1.2-length third Gatwick 1200m Moonee Valley last Saturday. Will give a good sight again.

YULONG SHENGDAO Lived up to his glowing reputation on debut when he cleared out to beat Gracie Lou Lou 1209m Yarra Valley Maiden 10 January. This is tougher but he will be further improved and must be considered.

SELECTIONS: No4 WIDGEE TURF, No2 Oak Door, No5 Mr Sneaky, No7 Yulong Shengdao

R4 – 2.45pm @Flemington VRC BM78 Handicap – 1600m

HOKKAIDO Two runs from a spell have been solid and he should strip at his peak for this. Eye-catching first-up third Bradman 1400m Caulfield 7 January then trapped deep throughout but worked back solidly for six-length sixth Burning Front 1500m Moonee valley last Saturday. Chance on the back-up against easier opposition here.

PORTMAN Has returned in fine fettle with two wins and a second in this campaign. Drove home late to beat Secret Prophet, Battlecamp 1300m Bendigo BM70 18 December then forced to work early and was ‘sitting duck’ for Snitzson 1400m here New Year’s Day. Drops 6kg here and looks ideally suited at the 1600m. Hard to beat.

JEST FOR THE ROAD Produced three wins and a second from last four starts and should measure up to higher grade here. Narrowly beaten by Playful Rosie 1600m Werribee BM64 5 January then easy winner over Baffert 1400m Pakenham BM64 last Thursday. Will appreciate the weight drop here.

LOLA LU Has three wins from last seven outings and rates an excellent lightweight chance with only 52.5kg with ben Thompson’s claim. Came from last to beat Skulduggery 1800m Sandown 4 January then doing best work at finish when 3.25-length ninth Playful Rosie same trip last Wednesday week. Will be pelting home late.

SELECTIONS: No5 HOKKAIDO, No12 Portman, No10 Jest For The Road, No11 Lola Lu VALUE RUNNER: No11 Lola Lu

R5 – 3.20pm Bitalli Handicap – 2000m

No3 CHANCE TO DANCE (NEXT BEST BET) Took the lead on straightening and fought off several challengers all the way down the straight before being nabbed on the line by Kourkam over this journey last Saturday week. Will be rock-hard third-up and will be tough to pass against a similar field. Meets Kourkam 2.5kg better and others on same terms.

R6 -4.00pm Inglis Dash – 1100m

FUHRYK Has won her three runs this campaign in dashing style and looks the one to beat again. Charged through the pack turning for home to easily beat Abriola 1200m Moonee Valley three-year-old fillies BM64 then dominated the boys in beating Widgee Turf, Gatwick same trip 31 December.

BARTHELONA Ranged up to win but found Capannello just too good when photo second over this trip two weeks ago. Meets that horse 4.5kg better for a head margin here. Fitter now and will go close with 3kg weight drop.

CAPANNELLO Has won two of last three and rates highly again – despite the weight turnaround. Close fifth Pearl Congenial 1000m Sandown 24 December then edged past Barthelona down the straight here two weeks back.

ARTIE DEE TWO Showed promise in winning first two starts Geelong and Moonee Valley last June then failed in Group company Caulfield and also Geelong last September. Could be a good first-up prospect.

SELECTIONS: No15 FUHRYK, No2 Barthelona, No3 Capannello, No4 Artie Dee Two

R7 – 4.40pm Kensington Stakes – 1000m

No4 HELLBENT (BEST BET) Up-and-coming sprinter with a sensational finishing burst and looks ideally suited here first up. Swamped Sheidel 1100m Caulfield 24 September then freshened for game third Redzel, Terravista over this straight trip 3 November. Should have furnished even further with the break.

R8 – 5.20pm Patrobas Handicap – 1400m

BRADMAN Racing in terrific form and right at his peak following three runs back. Game 2.5-length second Hard Call 1400m Caulfield BM84 Boxing Day then held off Shockaholic BM78 same trip 7 January.

DIVINE MR ARTIE Slightly disappointing two runs since beating Armada, Chiavari 1200m here 10 December. Battled on fairly for 3.45-length sixth Grande Rosso this trip two weeks ago and will strip fitter for this.

DUIBIO Form when last in work was top shelf and he should sprint well fresh. Narrow second Chase The Horizon 1100 Bendigo 26 October then beat Septamore 1400m Ballarat BM84 19 November. This is tougher but he is the likely improver.

SHOCKAHOLIC Strikes his fair share of trouble but showed he was close to a win with fast-finishing photo-finish second Bradman 1400m Caulfield 7 January. Meets Bradman 2kg better here.

SELECTIONS: No5 BRADMAN, No2 Divine Mr Artie, No6 Duibio, No9 Shockaholic

VALUE RUNNER: No9 Shockaholic

R9 – 5.55pm VRC Young Members Handicap – 1800m

HIPPARCHUS On the quick back-up after desperately unlucky second Domino Vitale 1600m Moonee Valley last Saturday. Waller stable has a happy knack of winning on the back-up.

MANAPINE Classy stayer getting back to form following two solid runs from a spell and suited here. Went forward to lead and battled on strongly when second Lady Selkirk 1600m Sandown 11 January. Won 2500m Gallilee Series Final this track last April and solid fifth to Delicacy 2400 SA Derby. The one to beat.

GERVAIS Beat a very smart one in Crocodile Rock last start 1600m here on New Year’s day. Lightly-raced but shows promise.

BATTLECAMP Has been the punters’ nemesis but showed he was nearing a win with an eye-catching sixth Hunamosa 1600m Pakenham last Thursday. Has always shown promise and only needs luck to figure in the finish.

SELECTIONS: No3 HIPPARCHUS, No9 Manapine, No7 Gervais, No11 Battecamp

VALUE RUNNER: No9 Manapine
