Doomben Betting Tips & Preview

Betting Tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 2.

Mon, 30 Jan, 12:00 AM

Rain has been around in Brisbane for the past week but Doomben is such a good drying track it should be a good rating. The rail is out three metres which means all runners should get a chance. It is a typical Brisbane midweek race meeting which means there will be some upsets.

  • QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)
  • Skinny Play: 1,12/3,8/1,4/6
  • Wide Play: 1,3,5,12/1,3,4,8/1.4.512/3,5,614

  • Next Best Bet: R4 – No 1. SON OF A BRUT
  • Best Roughie: R7 – No 12. MAGIC MOUSE

R1 – 12.40pm. UBET BREAKFAST SHOW Maiden Handicap - 1050m.

NO 3 MAXWELL Has been having trouble the last 50m or so in races at the Sunshine Coast. Suited this smaller track with a 3kgs claim. He will be in this for a long way.

NO 1 CALL THE COPPERS He has been racing very well in New South Wales provincial and country areas before a spell. Trialled nicely at the Gold Coast recently and looks well placed here.

NO 2 ALSEEYA They don't come much more consistent and not win a race. Almost a professional placegetter but will win one of these one day.

NO 7 JEST EXCEL From the leading stable and while no trial, he has gone solidly in jump outs. Will be no value here but demands respect.

R2 – 1.15pm. THE PAUL DOGSY DOLAN Maiden Plate - 1615m.

NO 4 MARK MY WORD (BEST BET) Surely he can win today and this looks ideal. He has been placed at his four runs from a spell and he has had no luck. The trouble is he gets a long way back but should race closer this small field and he can finish fast.

NO 5 MONTANA PINES Good third at only second start last time and this distance suits.

NO 1 LUJAC He has just about sent us to the poor house with minor placings his past four. Always looks the winner and then fades last 50m. Maybe today will be the day.

NO 10 DON'T DOUBT DA WIFE Has been good in this grade and well placed at the weights. Looks the value hope.

R3 – 1.50pm. THE NEIL LOFTY STEVENSON Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1615m.

NO 7 MORALTO Much improved effort at second start this area when second behind a promising horse. This is a weak race and gets his chance here.

NO 4 NEARCTIC CHILLER Has been sound two runs back from a spell and getting to the right distance now. Will probably lead here and be hard to run down.

NO 1 IMPULSIVE SPIRIT Having his first start at the 1600m here and races like it will suit. Good run back in November followed by two ordinary runs but fitter here.

NO 6 FRENCH SONG Down sharply in class here and is another who should race on the pace.

R4 – 2.25pm. THE PAST THE POST QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

NO 1 SON OF A BRUT (NEXT BEST BET) He has very strong form for a race like this and is perfectly drawn. No trial for comeback run here but has had a jump out. Should be on the pace and too strong at the finish.

NO 4 SKY TEAM First starter from a strong stable who has impressed in both of his trials. Meets a pretty handy field here.

NO 5 MR ATTITUDE Much better effort at his second start when second at Ipswich. This harder but looks to be an improver.

NO 9 SORNJA Another returning to racing here but both his starts before a spell were good. Will be running home hard.

R5 – 3.05pm. THE GRAHAM TURNER QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

NO 3 RAJA AMPAT All four runs from a spell have been good and is close to a win. The barrier of 13 is no help but has a champion jockey in Damian Browne.

NO 1 PUBLISHING POWER Another who has been very good at his three race starts. Getting up in the weights but should be on the pace for a long way.

NO 12 NEVER SO SIRIUS Race form doesn't look all that flash but we did like her trial last month at the Gold Coast. She can improve here.

NO 5 ONE GOLDEN DAY Has had more than a few chances but she has never been out of the place this track in four goes. Can race well fresh here.

R6 – 3.40pm. THE JOHN BUNNY BRASCH Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap - 1200m.

NO 8 LOVE A ROSE Three-year-old filly taking on older mares here but she has ability. Injured a couple of starts back so just getting back to her best. Battled on well behind some class three year olds last time and wasn't far away at the finish.

NO 1 STAR OF NIGHT Way out of her class last start at the Gold coast and this is much easier. Has been racing well enough to be in the finish and gets weight relief with a 3kgs claim.

NO 4 MY GIRL HAYLEY She was once rated a possible Golden Slipper filly after showing a lot of ability early. Has had her problems but down in class here and has the pace to lead this field.

NO 3 KIM NOIR She is a promising mare who can over race at times. But if she settles will be hard to beat here.

R7 – 4.15pm. THE STEVE HEWLETT Class 2 Handicap - 1350m.

NO 4 WINDY SANDS Has not missed a place since coming to Queensland from Victoria. Usually up on the pace and this distance suits. Gets in very well at the weights after the 3kgs claim.

NO 5 PROMISCUOUS Not a bad run last start at first effort from a break. He can mix his form but from a good barrier has a real chance here.

NO 1 MISHANI SLEUTH Has earned top weight and was a good Gold Coast winner before honest effort in a much harder three-year-old race last start. This is far easier.

NO 12 MAGIC MOUSE (Best Roughie) Two runs from a spell have been just fair. But does improve with racing and could be the value runner here.

R8 – 4.50pm. 25 YEARS OF RADIO TAB Bench Mark 75 Handicap -1350m.

NO 6 UMGENI He has had no luck last few starts in much harder races than this. It does look an ideal race for him and he is in well at the weights with a 3kgs claim.

NO 14 MAGAZINE MISS Can be hard to catch but good winner at Ipswich last start and has a top jockey and a good barrier with no weight.

NO 3 DECONSTRUCTED Believe it or not was once being touted as a future Group One horse. A long way off that these days but in a new stable for comeback run and has reportedly worked well.

NO 5 MS BA BELLA Recent form isn't great but has the top northern rivers jockey and barrier one here. She will be a lot fitter for two runs from a spell.
