Pakenham Betting Tips & Preview
Betting Tips for every race at Pakenham.
This is a tough meeting with four maiden races and even fields. The meeting does not have a lot of quality but the fields are quite even competitively. The weather is going to be hot and sultry with a top of 37C forecast and the day to be overcast. The track rating is a Soft 5 now but this will improve.

No 12 WANGAALA Caulfield debut met far stronger opposition and gave sound effort in recent trial.
No 9 MISS LILY Showed some improvement and has tongue-tie and winkers fitted here.
No 1 ARAKAIN Should land in the box seat and always a chance from there.
No 4 SINTARA Has been thereabouts and worthy of thought here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 4 SINTARA
R4 – 7.30pm. PRECOR Australia Super VOBIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1200m.
No 7 TACITURN Godolphin galloper down from Sydney and not here for a picnic.
No 4 MUTIN Solid debut at Seymore and is a danger.
No 11 ESCHATOLOGY Great debut but then floundered next two starts. May bounce back.
R5 – 8.00pm. TLA & Puma Handicap – 1600m.
No 3 RED ALTO (BEST BET) Was aimed high as a three-year-old in Queensland last season running sixth in the Group 1 Queensland Derby. Form in Victoria is outstanding with two wins from three starts. Drops 2kg to 57kg and has Luke Currie as the new pillion here after a good win over 1400m this track on January 25.
No 8 THE TERRICKS Loves this track and last start was a great effort.
No 5 BEL SIR No luck second-up and must rank as a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 THE TERRICKS
R6 – 8.30pm. Aligned Leisure Handicap – 1200m.
No 5 MAGMELLOU Has a sound first-up record and has been gelded since finishing seventh at Sandown on August 31. Gets leading rider Luke Nolen to ride at his return and respect.
No 6 HIGHBALLING Gets a good draw (2) after jumping from 12 when running sixth over 1400m here on January 19. Regan Bayliss is the new rider and he looks well suited in this race for a break-through.
No 8 VIKING HUNTER Found his opposition too slick when finishing sixth following a 332-day break over 1100m at Sale on January 22. Has a superior second-up record and this is not strong.
No 7 MR BOBBI Gets top jockey Craig Newitt to ride and was turned out after running seventh here on October 22. He does not strike a hot field here and is worth thought for the placings.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 VIKING HUNTER
R7 – 9.00pm. Cedex Steel & Metals Class 1 Handicap – 1400m.
No 4 SUNDAY PRAY Hit the line hard when running a strong fourth over 1200m here on January 25. Patrick Maloney rides again but he jumps 2kgs to 59.kg. From gate three should gain a soft passage.
No 1 CAMBODIAN PRINCE Pay to down the poor run to the Soft 5 track when finishing fifth as a $3.10 favourite at Cranbourne on January 20. Regan Bayliss is the new rider and does not strike hot opposition here. Only had three starts so heaps of upside.
No 3 MYKI (Best Roughie) Resumed from a long spell when running eighth here over 1200m on January 25. He has blinkers back on and will be improved sharply with a new rider to boot in Daniel Stackhouse taking control.
No 5 QUEDOUTES Gets a chance here after disappointing when finishing eighth at Sale over 1736m on December 22. Has been freshened and would give the five-year-old a chance to redeem here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 MYKI
R8 – 9.30m. Plenary Group F&M Handicap – 1600m.
No 1 COMIC MISS (NEXT BEST BET) Leading trainer has this mare racing in full flight and she can overcome her wide gate in 12. Weir has gone for the 3kg claim of apprentice Mitchell Aitken to reduce her impost to a winnable 57.5kg. She carried 56.5kg to career away last start at Warrnambool on January 15 over 1700m.
No 2 DOMESTICATED Lost ground and would draw a line through her last run. Can redeem herself here.
No 6 MISS CLOONEY Is racing in peak form and will be a strong chance here.
No 4 SHE’S GOT SPEED A non-winner but with blinkers back on she rates as a sound place chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 MISS CLOONEY
