The weather has been absolutely sweltering but a cool change is forecast for Sunday’s meeting with the temperature dropping from the high 30’s to a maximum of 23C. The track is expected to be rated at a Soft 5 with the chance of showers and the rail will be at three metres for the seven-race card. A good and competitive Sunday card despite small fields.
No 4 SAM’S IMAGE Has impressed winning a trial here and second at Cranbourne.
No 6 YUE FEI Has done enough in jump outs to warrant here.
No 7 CHERIEF’S CHOICE Big drop in class and easier here.
No 2 LORD SUNDOWNER Comes from leading two-year-old stable and respect in small field.
VALUE RUNNER: No 2 LORD SUNDOWNER
No 4 BASTILLE (NEXT BEST BET) Was a very expensive yearling purchase at $775,000 so is very well bred but obviously has issues as trialled a year ago. The colt hails from a leading stable and on his sole trial at Randwick showed speed to run second. Chasing money to pay for his purchase and not here for a picnic so would suggest he is the one to beat.
No 5 BOWIE ROCKS Well backed last campaign and is fresh.
No 2 HARD WOOD HARRY Has changed yards and worthy of having a look at here.
No 1 BRAVE MASTER (Best Roughie) Fought on well at debut and will strip much fitter.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 BRAVE MASTER
No 5 L’AMOUR DE MA VIE Found the winner too good at Terang and fitter now.
No 10 THE REVENANT Fit now and may find this easier.
No 3 GRANDE OREILLES Tough run first-up and fitter now.
No 1 ABERS SOLUTELY Stablemate to L'Amour De Ma Vie and has claims.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 ABERS SOLUTELY
No 3 DIAMOND DISTRICT Is back into his right class after being aimed too high when running eighth at Moonee Valley on January 21. Harry Coffey rides at 59.5kg and he has the speed to lead uncontested here.
No 5 PLATINUM RAIDER Won here two starts ago and will relish his drop back to this grade after running sixth over 1400m at Sandown on February 1. Lachlan King’s 3kg claim sees him carry only 52.5kg.
No 4 TABLEAUX Was specked in the market before finishing a close third over 1440m at Geelong on January 29. Senior rider Luke Nolen is the new pillion and would keep him very safe in this small but even bunch.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 DIAMOND DISTRICT
No 2 BEN BADER (BEST BET) Gave a big effort to win here over 1206m on January 15. Was easy in the betting from $4.20to $5 but did the job very well. Samantha Noble rides again and her claim sees him carry 56.5kg, which is a kilo less than last time. Strikes a small field and beating a large field and makes a very strong case here.
No 4 PRAIRIE SUN Won two starts ago at a non-TAB meeting and has speed.
No 1 CHURCHILL’S SPEECH First-up here off a 210-day break and goes well fresh.
No 5 AUNTY ELSIE Powered home last start and can repeat the dose here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 5 AUNTY ELSIE
No 1 GRACIE LOU LOU Is racing in top form and fought hard to win over 1200m maiden at Yarra Valley on January 21. Goes up in weight to 61.5kg from 56.5kg but she meets her own sex and her last win was full of merit.
No 5 GUILTY AS SIN Gave punters a good run for their money when a fighting fifth over 1200m at Mornington on January 28. Goes up two kilos to 59.5kg but meets her own sex here and is drawn to have a soft run in gate six.
No 2 RED’S SISTER ROSIE Her form on the outer provincial tracks was top class before raised in class when ninth over 1200m at Moonee Valley on February 3. Stephen Brown’s 2kg claim sees her carry 59kg here.
No 9 ABSOLUTELYCERTAIN Has senior rider Luke Nolen replacing a 3kg apprentice. Ran on solidly after being trapped three deep when running eighth over 1200m at Sandown on February 1. Easier here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 9 ABSOLUTELYCERTAIN
No 1 DAKOTA Will strip fitter on first-up third here over 1200m on January 30. Has had two gear changes with a Norton bit added and the winkers taken off. Lachlan King’s 3kg claim sees him carry 59kg and is a good chance.
No 9 MORE SPARK Gave a most steady effort to chase home and run fifth over 1600m at Seymore on January 23. Harry Coffey replaces apprentice Beau Mertens and makes appeal here.
No 4 QUEEN GORGO Gave a solid effort to run fifth over 1755m at Geelong on January 29. Senior rider Jamie Mott is the new jockey and though he jumps 3kg to 60kg he does make appeal on his prior win at Kilmore.
VALUE RUNNER: No 4 QUEEN GARGO
