Randwick (Monday) Betting Tips & Preview

Betting Tips for every race at Randwick.

Thu, 9 Feb, 12:00 AM

Ahh how good is it! The good horses are back, and we are graced by the presence of the champion, and whatever other superlative you can come up for her, in Winx! She will be winning, get out to Randwick and enjoy her. Outside of that we have 9 good races on the card. We had a downpour Wednesday, but will be hot and sunny in the lead up. I think we will have a Soft 5-6 by Saturday and the rail is +8m 1600m to Winning Post, +6m Remainder.

    QUADDIES (Races 7-8-9-10)

    Skinny: 4,5,7,11,13 – 1,2,5 – 1 – 1,6,7,13,14
    Wide: 2,3,4,5,7,9,11,12,13 – 1,2,3,5,7,14 – 1,2,3,12 – 1,3,6,7,13,14

    Best Bet: R6 N11 WINX
Next Best Bet: R9 N1 DIXIE BLOSSOMS
Best Roughie: R6 N7 ENDLESS DRAMA

R1 - 12:05pm. RANVET HANDICAP - 1600m.

No 3 ASTRONOMOS Returns from a long lay-off here and has trialled really well on two occasions. His fresh record is better than it looks as he has been unlucky on all three first-up runs. He is 2/2 at Randwick, loves wet going 4/5 and is the different horse / form coming into this race. Just hoping for a little bit of speed here to help him.

No 8 LIAPARI Won well last week at the T&D, Avdulla got going early on him and he really went through the line well. Week back up and a 2kg weight drop suits here. His soft record is a little dicey so I want to see him do it here.

No 7 HOGMANAY Gets a 2kg weight swing off Liapari from last week and looks to get a good run on the map if Innes shows some intent early on in the piece, he could sit behind the leaders

No 4 INVINZABEEL Was a touch disappointing at Rosehill last start. Placed three from four at the track and distance though and has to be considered a chance with a soft run from the inside gate.

R2 - 12:45pm. TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP - 1800m.

No 1 MAESTRO TOM Produced a monster run on pace last start when taking off at the 600m and only getting run down late by Madame De Ban. He carries 56kgs after the claim and the step up to 1800m will suit.

No 3 CIRCLE GAME Was held up at a crucial time last start when third in the same race as Maestro Tom. Getting out to the 1800m will suit as she has won over 2000m before. She has a short, sharp burst and will be held together as long as possible.

No 6 MEDIEVAL Won well at Doomben last start. M Dunn in a highway, I loathe to take them on here. But I think that Doomben race was weak and he had all the luck when it mattered. From gate 5 he is going to get a great run and will be hard to beat.

No 9 D’BEAK Will carry no weight here after the claim. He has been running well over distance down south and with any luck he will be in the finish.

R3 - 1:25pm. OPEN MARKETS & BMYG HANDICAP - 2400m.

No 3 ADMIRAL JELLO Produced a huge run last start when winning on an insane pace and really outstayed his rivals there. Doyle sticks with him and he will be hard to beat again.

No 5 BURNING ENERGY Went too slow in front last start after the big effort over the 2400m prior to that. He has had the 2400m run which I like and gets Collett here (big jock change) and will be there somewhere.

No 2 EMBLEY Has seen the form stack up brilliantly since his last-start win. He goes up to 60kgs here, but he carried that two back when just beaten by Montauk. Glyn flying at the moment and he’s hard to beat

No 4 REGAL MONARCH Looks ready for the 2400m now after two runs back for Waller. I noted after his last start “better for further / Randwick” he is out to the 2400m and at Randwick and with Bowman aboard, watch him in the market as it will tell the tale.

R4 - 2:00pm. INGLIS CLASSIC - 1200m.

No 8 SWEET DEAL Sat wide throughout in the Widden and that looks to be a good race going forward, she was a little green when Collett asked her to go coming around the turn. She should be much fitter and better for the experience and back at home she is hard to beat.

No 4 ULTRAMARINE Was good on debut when the market suggested otherwise. The step to 1200m here looks good and the form from the debut run has stood up.

No 2 FIRE STOKER On the quick back up after a win last Friday at Canberra. The trial before debut was superb. He gets gate 1 and showed that he has some toe and 1200m suits.

No 5 IMPENDING Is really well in at the weights here given that he is a 3yo taking on the older horses. His form is impeccable. Started fav in the Caulfield Guineas last start and was just beaten. Trial leading in was very quiet, but good. His fresh form is quite good. Last prep Astern and Star Turn beat him. He gets a great run from barrier 1 and is hard to beat.

No 1 LE ROMAIN Has brilliant fresh form and has trialled in sizzling fashion leading in. My concern is the 61kgs and that he may not be wound up with the Doncaster his ultimate goal.

No 6 SUPREME EFFORT Race fit and good last start without much luck. Looks a flukers hope here.

R6 - 3:10pm. THE STAR APOLLO STAKES - 1400m.

No 11 WINX (Best Bet) What needs to be said? She wins, enjoy watching a champion.

No 7 ENDLESS DRAMA (Best Roughie) Trialing up really well, he seems over the odds off his trials and European form. If something went wrong with Winx, this is the boil over horse

No 1 HARTNELL Great campaign last time in, take away Winx and he’s our best horse. Trials have been good. Expect to see him hit the line well.

No 5 DIBAYANI Races fantastically in Sydney and especially at Randwick beaten a lip in an Epsom and Villiers. But will run top 4 in this race.

No 5 RIGHTEOUS MATE Resumes here after two solid trials and what was a very good preparation. Second prep first up for Newnham he looks over the odds here. The mile suits and he could well be a derby horse.

No 13 INVINCIBLE GEM Is flying this time in, with strong wins at her past two. I don’t see a reason as to why she won’t run 1600 and she looks hard to beat again.

No 7 GAUGUIN Was very good when wide and on the speed last start. He steps up to the 1600 which looks as if it will suit. He is still learning, but if he puts it all together lookout.

R8 - 4:25pm. TAB LIGHT FINGERS STAKES - 1200m.

No 5 HONESTY PREVAILS Has been trialling the house down leading into this. From the gate I expect Collett to bustle her out, run along and hopefully be able to hold off Global Glamour.

No 1 GLOBAL GLAMOUR Huge run at the Gold Coast was left a sitting shot late there. One slight concern is that these horses back from the Gold Coast have not been performing that well. If she has handled the trip up and back well, lookout.

No 2 SPRIGHT Brilliant form last time in winning all three runs. The trials leading in have been quite good and she needs to be respected here.

No 7 ZENALICIOUS Trialled well enough leading into this. Not sure what they do from gate 14. But she has returned quite well and could be a big improver this prep.

No 1 DIXIE BLOSSOMS (Next Best Bet) Took the next step last preparation and stamped herself as a classy mare. She should have gone close in the Myer last prep with even luck. The trial this time in was nothing short of amazing. With any luck from the gate, she wins.

No 2 PEARLS Has a good fresh record and beat Dixie Blossoms first-up last preparation. The trial leading in was quite good and she has a chance.

No 3 NANCY I can never catch this mare; she is an enigma. She trialled brilliantly leading into this first-up run and gets Bowman. I have to throw her in! Fresh off a wind off.

No 12 QUEEN OF KARIBA Loomed up to win first-up before condition gave out late. The run said 'back me next start / third-up'. She is out of her grade here, but is a must for all exotics / wide quaddies.

R10 - 5:45pm. SCHWEPPES HANDICAP - 1200m.

No 6 HANWRITTEN Dominated the race from in front last start and gave them no chance to get near him. He ran through the line well and the step up to 1200m looks no issue here.

No 1 MEURSAULT Back off a freshen and has trialled pleasingly leading into this. After the 3kg claim for Heywood he is well in at the weights and with his good Randwick record, hard to beat.

No 14 YOUR WAY Didn’t have much luck last start when copping some checks in running. I like the drop back to 1200m here, as well as the 5.5kg weight drop.

No 13 PICK ME UP Smashed them last start and got a well-deserved win. He drops 4.5kgs for the win and has yet another chance here.
