p>This is a tough meeting with many gallopers facing a rise in grade and a few others dropping down a grade. The eight-race card has even fields with betting the key to some of the races. Pay to watch the markets with an eagle eye and go from there. The track is rated a Good 3 with the false rail at the six-metre position. The weather is fine.

R1 – 1.30pm. Hamilton Reid Plate – 1600m.

No 5 THREEPEAT Capped last campaign with a second at Horsesham in a maiden in October. Gets top jockey Dwayne Dunn to ride here and hails from a well known betting stable.

No 6 MISS COUNTERFEIT Has charged home at last three starts and gets a senior rider replacing a 3kg apprentice today. Has a gear change with blinkers replacing winkers.

No 2 FAST PLAN Will wear blinkers for the first time and gets Group 1 winning hoop Damian Lane as the new rider. Latest ran a sound third over 1400m in a maiden here on February 3.


R2 – 2.00pm. Comcater Plate – 1200m.

No 7 REMEMBER THE NAME Caught the eye with a soft gallop in a recent jump-out at Flemington. She is a nicely bred two-year-old filly and has top jockey Damian Oliver to steer at her debut. Keep safe.

No 4 MISS WAHOO Way down in class here on her last start sixth to Limestone in the Fillies Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield on January 26. Gets the services of ace jockey Dwayne Dunn here and respect.

No 2 JUSTICE GLORY Was strongly supported at $3.60 favouritism when finishing third over 1100m in a fillies’ maiden at Seymore on January 23. Leading jockey Mark Zahra keeps the mount and has a good draw in gate three.

No 3 LEATHER’N’LACE Is a nicely bred daughter of Street Cry making her debut. She has ace jockey Damian Lane to ride and hails from the yard of trainer Darren Weir. Suggest to watch market at debut.


R3 – 2.30pm. Nick Johnstone Real Estate Handicap – 2100m.

No 1 GILAGO Is rock solid now and faces milder opposition to her last start when finishing a sound sixth over 2100m here on February 8. She gets Jye McNeil to ride again and better drawn in seven.

No 5 SHE’S GOT SPEED Gets a big drop in weight down 4.5kg to 54kg and has Damian Lane to steer. Latest was a $3.20 favourite when finishing third over 1600m against her own sex at Pakenham on February 9

No 3 ALITTLE LOOSE Can improve on her last start eighth over 1600m against her own sex here on February 1. Noel Callow keeps the ride and she drops 5kg to 56kg. Has claims in an even field of mares.

No 4 TESSABELLE Fought hard to run third over 1600m against her own sex at Caulfield over 1600m on February 4.Gets Damien Oliver replacing Stephen Baster and expect her to be supported again.

R4 – 3.00pm. Mitavite Challenge Heat 2 – 1600m.

No 2 VON CLASSIC HERO (BEST BET) Has been lumping big weights to win at his past two starts on provincial tracks. With apprentice Jordan Childs’ 1.5kg claim will carry 59.5kg here and on his wins over 1600m and 1500m at Bendigo and Geelong he looms as one of the better bets of this program. Was a $4 favourite last time out and will be highly fancied again.

No 4 BATTLECAMP Keeps on keeping on despite having no luck in running.

No 5 I BOUGHT A HORSE Has the winkers off and was a good last-start winner.

No 6 LOTION Been solid at past two runs and warrants thought in this small field.


R5 – 3.30pm. Mitavite Challenge Heat 1 – 1400m.

No 12 SWISS BEAUTY Has been picture perfect and can win again here after running a solid second over 1200m here on February 1. Gets a riding change with apprentice Ben Allen replacing Beau Mertens. His 2kg claim reduces her weight to 55.5kg and drawn gate one.

No 3 FASTNET LATINA Is an Irish bred stallion who won first-up over 1200m in a maiden at Terrang on January 24. Apprentice Jordan Childs’ 1.5kg claim reduces his weight to 58kg. Looms as a danger.

No 13 SUNNY BLU SKY Gets in with a good weight with Ethan Brown’s 3kg claim reducing her handicap to 54kg here. Barrier is not too much of a setback as she gets back and powers home and has been consistent.

No 8 PLAIN TOM Gave a steady performance when running third over 1400m at Ballarat on January 25 after winning at Arat. Dean Yendall keeps the mount but will have to combat a wide alley in 12.


R6 – 4.000pm. Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap – 1400m.

No 7 ASTLEY Faces an even field in a difficult race with many maiden winners. Won his maiden here three starts ago and latest run a solid fourth over 1600m at Caulfield on January 26. Gets a riding change with Mark Zahra the new pillion and makes appeal.

No 5 ROSTI Fought hard to post a narrow but strong win at debut over 1200m in a maiden at Ballarat on January 31. Important riding change here with top jockey Damien Oliver the new rider.

No 3 GERSHOM (Best Roughie) Eased in the market before posting a clever debut win over 1200m in a maiden at Pakenham on January 25. Ryan Maloney keeps the ride but goes up 2.5kg to 59.5kg here. Has claims.


R7 – 4.30pm. Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap – 1200m.

No 5 EL DORADO MINE (NEXT BEST BET) Had no luck at debut when finishing a sound fifth over 1200m at Pakenham on February 2. Sat three deep and gave his backers who took the $2.40 favouritism a good run for their money. Craig Newitt keeps the ride and he will strip fitter for this race and makes strong appeal.

No 7 WRECKING BALL Has a tongue-tie added to his gear. Made an imposing debut when winning.

No 1 BELIEVING Is as consistent as clockwork and is a big danger again.

No 2 BONS AWAY Drawn wide (12) but can improve on only second start.


R8 – 5.00pm. Le Pines Funerals Handicap – 1400m.

No 11 CRUISING SPEED She chased very hard along the rail to claim third placing over 1400m against her own sex at Flemington on January 28. That was her Victorian debut and will be improved for the outing and has Damian Lane sticking.

No 2 DUIBIO Won at Ballarat before pulling up lame when finishing last over 1400m at Flemington on January 28. With Jordan Childs’ 1.5kg claim will carry 60kg and can give backers a good run for their money here.

No 4 BON ROCKET May pay to forgive his last start when he had no luck before finishing seventh over 1200m at Moonee Valley on January 21. Has been freshened for this race and pay to go on prior form.

No 8 DUSTY JACK Has been in slashing form and is chasing a hat-trick of wins here. Latest won over 1400m as a $2.20 favourite and has Damien Oliver on board again. Drops 1.5kg to 56.5kg and can combat gate 10.
