Betting Tips for every race at Rosehill

Thu, 16 Feb, 10:48 AM

The carnival is upon us here, after the show that Winx gave us on Monday, we have to butter up at Rosehill where we see the two Golden Slipper favs in Kahn and She Will Reign going around in the Silver Slipper. Although the fields aren’t big, they are intriguing. The track should be good come race time and the rail is +3m the circumference.

    QUADDIES (Races 6-7-8-9)

    Skinny: 4,5 – 7,9 – 1,3,7 – 9,10
    Wide: 1,4,5,6 – 1,4,6,7,8,9,13 – 1,3,7 – 2,4,9,10

Best Bet: R5 N5 SHE WILL REIGN
Next Best Bet: R4 N5 ZAKYNTHOS REGRETS
Best Roughie: R7 N1 SINGLE GAZE

R1 -12:45pm. SPARK OF LIFE HANDICAP - 1100m.

No 2 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE Has been brilliant in winning all runs this time in. He has been going out there and getting the job done. I prefer him out to the 1100m here as he can wind up and go through his gears. Given that Cummings and Glyn can’t stop winning at the minute, he looks rock solid.

No 1 SCARLETT RAIN Super win first-up off a long break and had to do it the tough way on speed. She was challenged all the way down the straight and responded well. Here second-up worth 62kgs is a big ask for a small filly, but can’t knock Gai at the minute.

No 3 SPENDING TO WIN Was run down late in a much better race than this last start. With the blinkers on for the first time here, I think he may well take a sit behind Scarlett Rain in the run here as she only knows one way. He was a winner over 1100m fresh.

No 4 EBENOS Looks to be next best here in a race that will be dominated by the top 3 in the market here.

TACTICAL ADVANTAGERosehill Gardens 01:45 - Winner

No 2 HANDFAST Found WFA level behind Music Magnate too tough when resuming. He drops well back in grade here and looks much more suited. He gets the blinkers back on and up to a more suitable distance give him a chance to breakthrough.

No 5 ROARING TO WIN Was probably a touch flat second-up after such a big first-up effort. He found the line well enough there. While I would have preferred more distance than this, his two runs this time in have shown he is ready to win.

No 6 QUEEN OF WANDS Is now ready to win, but I’m questioning the drop back in distance here, as she really ran out the mile strongly last start. Her three wins have come around this distance and she has a chance.

No 1 TORGERSEN Has finally been gelded and if that operation has worked we may see a genuine race horse. He has the ability, but is an absolute cat. If the gelding switches him on, he could blow them away.

HANDFASTRosehill Gardens 02:25 - Winner

R3 -2:00pm. JAMES RUSE HANDICAP - 1500m.

No 8 TOWER OF SONG Is ready to win now after two very good runs since resuming from a spell. He has chased hard in both runs and performed well. The Deploy form is quite good and now with no weight on his back against some stayers who are resuming, he could get away with one here.

No 2 ANTONIO GIUSEPPE Has been trialling the house down this time in and looks ready to go after the trials first up here. 1500m fresh looks good as he was a winner over 1500m twice last prep. He won four on end before running second in the Metrop as fav. He should win a Group 1 this prep.

No 4 DEE I CEE Will probably use this run as a fitness base run for the preparation, but with no speed in the race he may well take off and try to run them into the ground.

No 5 ALGERIA Could win this if she decided to show up and bring her best. We haven’t seen it for some time. But 1500m fresh on hard ground, we may well see it here.

TOWER OF SONGRosehill Gardens 03:00 - Winner

R4 -2:35pm. TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP - 1100m.

No 5 ZAKYNTHOS REGRETS (Next Best Bet) Closing my eyes and praying for a results with one of my best bets here. S Metcalfe is having her first city ride, and is very inexperienced. And that is the only thing stopping this horse from being a complete moral. He has run sizzling times in both wins this time in. If he can jump and get left alone in front they won’t run him down. It’s why $7 was first offered.

No 3 KOORINGAL STAR Trialled brilliantly leading into third behind Fell Swoop and Single Gaze, he is the danger.

No 1 AND THERE IS MORE Will get a long way back, but will be flying late.

No 4 CONNIVING Have to throw in as M Dunn is the trainer

ZAKYNTHOS REGRETSRosehill Gardens 03:35 - Winner

R5 -3:10pm. TAB SILVER SLIPPER STAKES - 1100m.

No 5 SHE WILL REIGN (Best Bet) Massive on both wins to date and smashing her opposition. The trial leading in had to be seen to be believed. She wasn’t off the bit once and ran the fastest heat of the morning by 1.8 seconds. 1100m not an issue as she gets to lead on her ear. Good luck running her down.

No 2 KHAN If this was 1200m I would probably have him on top. Great win on debut and he is going to be a major player come Slipper Day.

No 1 VERANILLO Real line chaser, and although he didn’t run time when winning at Randwick it was a tough effort. Probably not suited by the set-up of this race.

No 6 LUCKY LOUIE Very good in both runs to date, should be improved coming into a second preparation.

SHE WILL REIGNRosehill Gardens 04:10 - Winner

No 4 COMIN' THROUGH The market told us how he was going to run first-up. It said he “wasn’t ready” and he wasn’t just finding the line well enough. Second-up to 1400m much more suitable here and with added fitness he should be in the finish.

No 5 MAN FROM UNCLE Won well last start, he really dug deep late to get that win. The step up to 1400m shouldn’t pose any issues off that and he has his chance.

No 6 ACATOUR Has had the one soft trial leading into this. We never got to see the best of him last campaign as he didn’t get any luck when in Melbourne, I always have thought he will end up being better than Capitalist. This is the preparation to show it.

No 1 PRIZED ICON Closed off well in his only trial. Probably wants further than this. But he was a champagne winner this time last year and two of his wins have been at Randwick.

COMIN THROUGHRosehill Gardens 04:45 - Winner

R7 - 4:25pm. RANVET MILLIE FOX STAKES - 1300m.

No 9 DENMAGIC Will find 1300m much more suitable than the 1000m that she ran over first-up. She really closed off well there and the run had “coming winner” written all over it. Now to 1300m and down to 54kgs this is her chance to show us she wants to win.

No 7 EURO ANGEL Has trialled really well this time in, she was quickly thrown into the deep end last prep and wasn’t too bad at all. She should be more seasoned now and ready for this level.

No 1 SINGLE GAZE (Best Roughie) Trialing up in stylish fashion at Canberra. She has been off the scene for around a year now, she had that horrid fall in the Oaks and it’s great to see her back. 1300m fresh looks good, and she is a trier and always gets under the punters guard.

No 8 PRIVATE SECRETARY Was unbelievable at the Magic Millions, she came from nowhere to win that race. The wide open Randwick suits her much better here, and if they are walking late, look out for this mare.

DENMAGICRosehill Gardens 05:25 - Winner

R8 - 5:05pm. PARRAMATTA CUP - 1900m.

No 1 RED EXCITEMENT Has dominated his last two starts when winning from the front. He has had a freshen up since he won the Gosford Cup. Will roll forward again and prove hard to get past.

No 7 SOFIN With even luck this mare will be in the finish. She is deadest flying this time in and I like the step up to the 1900m here. As I said, if she gets some luck she will be in the finish.

No 3 ALLERGIC Found the line well enough first-up. The step up now to 1900m is much more suitable and he meets Religify better at the weights.

No 2 RELIGIFY I don’t know about him and 1900m, but the way he has won his past two, you can’t rule it out.

No 9 ALUCINARI Has trialled well enough leading into the first-up run and gets blinkers on here too. She took on better grade than this last time in and was quite good without winning. Down to 53kgs she is hard to beat.

No 10 HIEROGLYPHICS Won well when resuming from a spell. This is a big step up for her, but the win was quite strong and she gets good weight relief for that effort.

No 4 ZIGGY WILLIE Has been in great form as of late and has had a freshen up since the last-start run. The form around him is quite good and he must be respected here.

No 2 PRINCEFAMOUS Drops back to 1200m after a good effort last start behind Ecuador in the Carrington. That form was franked in the Orr last weekend. 1200m is much more suitable. McEvoy knows the horse well and Snowden's at home are always a chance.
