Recent Doomben meetings have favoured horses somewhere near the lead but the rail is true on Saturday which should give all runners a chance. On paper it is one of the hardest meetings for a good while with big fields and in some cases the likely favourites drawn badly. Doomben has missed most of the big storms but, anyway, is a good drying track so it should be a firm surface.
NO 3 RUBY RED HEART There are very big wraps on her and she is being set for a stakes campaign in the winter. Led all the way to win at first start and drawn to do the same here. Slight question mark up in weight and extra trip against some smart ones here.
NO 1 LADY LARK She was taking plenty of ground off Ruby Red Heart when second to her last start. Has shown plenty of ability and has a chance of reversing the placings.
NO 5 PAH TERIE Not bad at only start and looked like the distance here would suit. Of course has Jeff Lloyd to ride and barrier one so must be a hope.
NO 6 PINCH PASSION Has been well fancied in the betting at both his starts and been just fair. This extra trip might bring out the best in him.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 PAH TERIE
NO 6 LADY JETSETTER (Next Best Bet) Recent form has been okay but loves this track and distance, winning four times at the circuit. She has a claim here meaning she will carry 52kgs from barrier three. Has the pace to lead or sit on the lead.
NO 1 STRATURBO Another whose recent form in Sydney has been handy without being outstanding for this. Also goes very well this track and distance having won a stakes race at this circuit. Big weight but class runner.
NO 3 PINCH RIVER Handy horse on his day but is coming back from a long spell. He is unbeaten at distances around 1000m. No official trial but has had a jump out for comeback.
NO 5 ESPIRITU Has been racing below her best this campaign. But she gets into this race with a light weight and has barrier one. There will be a lot of early pace and provided she can stay in contact she will be hard to beat at big odds.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 ESPIRITU
NO 10 SENTIMENTAL PRINCE Let us down when beaten at the Sunshine Coast last start. But probably is best with his runs spaced and he was an impressive winner at his two previous starts. The 2000m should suit now.
NO 3 YOHO He is bred to be a 1200m horse but his recent form indicates he wants a middle distance. Good second this track and distance last start when they ran an outstanding final 600m when he led. Should race on the pace again.
NO 5 OUTRAGED He has taken time to get back to his best this campaign but showed old form when good winner in restricted class last start. This is harder but has a sharp drop in weight.
NO 6 HI SON (Best Roughie) He has been plugging away over shorter distances of late and finishing mid field. But has a good record this track and distance and has no weight after a 3kgs claim. Looks great value here.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 HI SON
NO 6 SIEGFRIED (Best Bet) This is a very even race but he has been racing well and has a few things in his favour here. Has one very quick sprint but he needs good early pace which he should get here. He is drawn to get cover and should be too strong at the weights.
NO 1 CYLINDER BEACH He is a class above these but the question is can he hump 60kgs at his first run since a break from a tricky barrier. We aren't saying he can't but we wouldn't be taking any silly odds.
NO 4 BECKHAM Only ordinary first-up but usually goes better after a run or two. This is his favourite distance so looks to be one of the chances at good odds.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 BECKHAM
NO 14 JUST ORM He has always shown a lot of potential and had a very good run last start. Nicely placed at the weights here and drawn to get the run of the race. These races are always hard but gets another chance.
NO 6 COURTZA KING Rarely runs a bad race although win strike rate isn't flash. Has had a break since last-start fifth last month but did win a Deagon trial in strong fashion recently.
NO 12 VINTAGE BEAUTY Had a reputation for not finishing off her races but since a stable switch has been racing with new vigour. She will be good odds here but should be in the race for a long way.
NO 9 FRENCH CONCESSION She has been racing well at provincial tracks and in midweek city races. This isn't much stronger so rates an each-way hope with a light weight here after a 3kgs claim.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 12 VINTAGE BEAUTY
NO 9 RHYME NOR RHYTHM Smart galloper who was sold to Hong Kong but the deal fell through. A very good winner at Toowoomba last start in easier company than this. He should have won his only start this track. Looks very hard to beat from perfect barrier draw.
NO 6 SORORITY SISTER Probably the most improved horse in Queensland. Went to Sydney recently but didn't get a start so home now in a race which suits. Likes this track and winner here two runs back.
NO 15 TYZONE Won five races in north Queensland and only start this area was a very good fourth in an open three-year-old handicap. Only has to repeat that run to be a hope here.
NO 3 RAINBOW MAGIC First-up run was only fair but can do a lot better than that. He will be very big odds but has run some good races in previous campaigns and should be handy for a long way from inside barrier.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 15 TYZONE
NO 8 I AM THE SCULPTOR He has a heap of ability but has a few mental problems. He needs races to be run with early pace where he can get cover and not pull. Did that last start at the midweeks and won easily.
NO 6 TIME TO TORQUE Produced two very strong efforts to win Eagle Farm and Doomben midweeks before no luck at all in a Saturday Class 6 last start. Deserves another chance.
NO 11 MOTION GRANTED Win strike rate is ordinary but a win and four minor placings from past five starts. He has his share of weight here but racing well enough to be an each-way hope.
NO 9 SHEISWHATSHEIS Led and battled on very well last start when second. This is a bigger field but she should lead again here and be hard to catch.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 11 MOTION GRANTED
