Looks to be another great meeting at Moonee Valley with the Group 3 Simpson Construction Stakes for three-year-old fillies being the feature on this eight-race night card. The weather should be perfect and with the rail back to the true position the track should play fair. The track rating is for a Good 4. The maximum is forecast to be 18C with a minimum of 13C, so a mild evening for this program.

No 7 AJUDA Led and held on well to score a narrow win over 14090m at Sandown on February 8. She goes up a kilo to 59kg and Regan Bayliss keeps the ride. From the powerful Hayes stable.

No 4 BAFFERT Gave a good effort but was outmuscled on the line when finishing third over 1600m here on February 10. Beau Mertens’ 2kg claim sees him carry 57.5kg, which is 1.45kg more in weight.

No 5 COSTA BOMB Gets a change of rider with apprentice Ben Allen’s 2kg claim reducing her impost to 57.5kg after posting a smart win over 1400m against her own age and sex at Ballarat on January 31.

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 COMIC SET

R2 – 7.00pm. Roll The Dice Racing Handicap – 1000m.

No 3 MATTY Was well supported in betting before winning at both of his starts last year. Both wins were at Pakenham and he was a $2.70 favourite when scoring over 1000m last start on September 18. Can measure up.

No 6 ATHENA LASS Has speed to burn and was caught on the line first-up when running a close second over 1000m here on February 10. With Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim will carry only 54kg and is a definite chance.

No 1 POWER TRIP Ran fourth in last year’s Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. He had a sound trial when finishing second over 800m on a bog track at Cranbourne on February 8. Jamie Mott rides at 60kg and must rate highly.

No 4 BELLA VINO Is a Sydney-trained filly who has won at three of her past four starts and was placed second the other time. She is first-up here after a win over 1000m at Kembla Grange last November.

VALUE RUNNER: No 4 BELLA VINO

R3 – 7.30pm. The Drain Man Handicap – 1500m.

No 2 STRIKE FORCE Was a $3.80 favourite when posting a strong but narrow win over 1519m here on February 10. Jake Bayliss is the new rider and his 2kg claim reduces his impost to 58.5kg, which is a winnable weight.

No 9 SNIPER Did enough first-up to finish fifth over 1300m at Sandown on February 8 to suggest here. Luke Nolen keeps the ride and he drops a half kilo to 57.5kg and will strip much fitter for the effort from gate one.

No 11 DON’TBABYLON Wears winkers for the first time. She fought hard to narrowly go down to Strike Force over 1519m here on February 10. Mitchell Aitken’s 3kg claim sees her carry 53kg, which is a half kilo more weight.

No 1 HELL ON EARTH Goes up a kilo to 59.5kg with Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim. He fought on well to run second over 1600m at Sandown on February 15. Has not been winning of late but is doing enough to suggest here.

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 HELL ON EARTH

R5 – 8.30pm. Inglis 55 Second Challenge Heat 14 – 955m.

No 9 RUNSATI Likes this track and fought on well when finishing fourth over 1000m at Randwick on February 4 in a hit-and-run raid. Should have the pace to box seat here and commands respect with Linda Meech to ride.

No 2 BEAU RADA Will relish the drop in class after running a fair fifth in stronger company over 1000m at Caulfield on February 4. Jamie Mott replaces Daniel Stackhouse and he rises 4.5kg for his big drop in grade.

No 4 BULLPIT Has speed and ran a good third over 1000m at Randwick last start on February 4. He gets apprentice Ben Allen’s 2kg claim to reduce his weight to a comfortable 56kg. Has each-way claims.

No 7 SUNDAY ESCAPE Goes well at this track and gave a solid effort when running third in a higher grade at Caulfield over 1000m on February 4. Dwayne Dunn rides again and he only goes up 1.5kg to 55.5kg. Makes appeal.

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 SUNDAY ESCAPE

R4 – 8.00pm. EJ Whitten Foundation Handicap – 1200m.

No 1 ANATOLA (NEXT BEST BET) Was a heavily backed $1.90 favourite before posting a dominant win over 1200m against her own sex here on February 10. She has drawn ideally in three and with Beau Mertens’ 2kg claim will carry 58kg, which is a half kilo more than last time. She loves this track with a record of a win, a second and two thirds at four starts.

No 9 VERSTAPPEN Has won twice at four starts and two defeats were in Stakes class.

No 5 BOOGIE WOOGIE MAN Can slot into a good spot here and worthy of taking note.

No 7 SIR MASK First-up second here on January 27 was full of merit. Respect.

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 SIR MASK

R6 – 9.00pm. Good Blokes Society Tour of Vic Distance Final – 2500m.

No 3 DOOM ‘N’ BOOM Edged clear to post a fighting win over 2100m at Sandown on February 8. He was backed from $16 into $9 that time and he gets senior rider Steve Arnold replacing apprentice Ben Thompson and goes up a half kilo to 58kg.

No 4 CREDITON Was steady throughout at $5 before posting a smart win here over 2500m on February 10. Ben Thompson rides again and he will carry 54kg with his 2kg claim. So he is effectively down 2.5kg in weight.

No 13 ONCIDIUM RULER Rock hard stayer who gave a good performance to run third over 2400m at Caulfield on February 4. He rises 6kg to 60kg for his drop in class here and makes appeal if he gains a start.

No 7 JIMIVAG Sustained a long run to finish second to Crediton over 2500m here on February 10. He gets a new rider in Jordan Childs and his 1.5kg claim reduces his handicap to 53.5kg. Light-weight claims.

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 JIMIVAG

R7 – 9.30pm. Simpson Construction Typhoon Tracy Stakes – 1200m

No 3 HEAR THE CHANT Is a Group 3-winning filly making her return here and races against her own age and sex. Was a noted drifter from $10 to $19 before finishing second over 1400m at Sandown last start on November 12.

No 5 IMPROVEMENT Was heavily backed into $4.60 before posting a good win over 1200m against her own age over 1200m at Randwick on January 14. Sydney filly who has won three and been placed second at her four starts. Sure to be in the firing line.

No 7 GRIDELIN Makes good appeal here on her luckless last-start fourth to leading Sydney filly Global Glamour in the Group 2 Light Fingers at Randwick on February 17. Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy rides.

No 10 MAGNATTI (Best Roughie) Has an impeccable record of three starts for three wins. Craig Williams rides again and she will carry 2.5kg less on 55kg than she did to win here over 1000m against older mares on February 3. Respect.

VALUE RUNNER: No 10 MAGNATTI

R8 – 10.00pm. Independent Turf Services Handicap – 1000m.

No 1 APPALACHIAN ANNIE (BEST BET) Rallied strongly from the front before being run down by Weather The Storm over 955m here on February 3. With Boris Thorton’s 3kg claim she carries 59kg but her gate in 16 is of a concern.

No 4 CERTAIN ELLIE Gets a change of rider with Beau Merten’s 2kg claim reducing her impost to 58.5kg. She won with 56kg here by 1 ¾ lengths over 955m on February 10. She chases a hat-trick here and must rate highly.

No 9 RED FIRE LADY Is a South Australian mare racing in superb fashion. She posted a clever win over 1006m at Murray bridge on January 26 at her last start. Jordan Child’s 1.5kg claim reduces her weight to 57kg.

VALUE RUNNER: No 9 RED FIRE LADY
