Saturday racing comes to us from Royal Randwick yet again this week. Group 1 racing is back and so is the wonder mare in Winx. We also have key lead-ups to the Slipper, can any one here dethrone She Will Reign? Of course with this meeting being at Randwick, rain is expected and the track will be soft and the rail is True.

    QUADDIES (Races 6-7-8-9)

    Skinny: 1 – 9 – 4 – 5,7,8,9
    Wide: 1,2,4,5 – 9 – 1,3,4,5 – 5,7,8,9

Best Bet: R8 N4 DIXIE BLOSSOMS
Next Best Bet: R1 N1 MONTAUK
    Best Roughie: R3 N11 SONGLIKE

R1 -12:45pm. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB TROPHY - 2000m.

No 1 MONTAUK (Next Best Bet) Is in the best form of any horses in this race. Avdulla will have to cuddle him yet again in the run and “trick” him into getting the job done. If he gets that quiet run throughout he will blow them away.

No 2 DARK EYES On the quick back up and at his home track looks well suited. If he gets left alone in front he is hard to beat.

No 6 MOST EXALTED Is well suited after the claim and should make a race of it at home.

No 3 HOGMANAY Keeps on running well and until he puts a bad one in, I don’t want to discount him in a race such as this. He will sit behind Dark Eyes in the run.

VALUE RUNNER: No 2 DARK EYES

R2 -1:25pm. TAB HIGHWAY PLATE - 1600m.

No 5 MEDIEVAL If in doubt land on the M Dunn runner in a highway. This is a weak race and back to the 1600m suits much better than the 1800m. Hopefully he settles a little closer in the run.

No 3 RUTHLESS AGENT Was good last Saturday in the Country Championships heat at Goulburn. He got too far back in a race that wasn’t run to suit. The 1600m also suits much better here.

No 4 DREADLOCK Comes out of a good race last start at Mudgee, he gets a big jockey change in getting Bowman on board. The mile is the question mark for mine, but with Bowman I’ll leave it to him.

VALUE RUNNER: No 4 DREADLOCK

R3 -2:00pm. VALE EDGAR BRITT OAM SWEET EMBRACE STAKES - 1200m.

No 11 SONGLIKE (Best Roughie) Has been trialling in brilliant fashion coming into a debut run here. She was scratched from a maiden on Wednesday where she looked unbeatable. I take confidence that they come to a race such as this. From 6 she should cross and lead and be hard to beat.

No 2 ARCTIC ANGEL Got taken on in front last start at Caulfield behind Catchy and that was her undoing. I think she will be ridden with a sit here to run out 1200m. Her win at Sandown in the spring was brilliant and if she runs up to that lookout.

No 8 GREATER GOOD Started $6 in the Gimcrack behind Jorda and that race’s figures have stacked up quite well this season. The trials leading in have been quite good and if she is fit enough she will be in the finish.

No 1 TEASPOON Gave her all last start when winning in what was a tough effort, I usually am happy to take on M Freedman but he has had this filly and Frolic produce big runs in the last few weeks.

VALUE RUNNER: No 2 ARCTIC ANGEL

R4 - 2:35pm. SCHWEPPES SKYLINE STAKES - 1200m.

No 8 DRACARYS Won in impressive fashion on debut. He comes to his home track now and will be ready for 1200m after that tough run in horrid conditions on debut.

No 7 CORUSCATE Was a professional winner on debut doing everything right. While he may not be the classiest of 2yos he certainly is a jump and run type of horse.

No 1 DIAMOND TATHAGATA Doesn’t impress in his trials, but his debut run was brilliant behind She Will Reign, if he is fit enough for 1200m he has his chance.

VALUE RUNNER: No 1 DIAMOND TATHAGATA

R5 - 3:10pm. OPENMARKETS & BMYG LIVERPOOL CITY CUP - 1300m.

No 3 CHETWOOD Forget his first-up run, just forget it. His trials leading into that were brilliant and his form last preparation was simply scintillating. The last time Clark was on board he bolted up in the Cameron Handicap beating Le Romain. He will roll forward and dominate the race.

No 5 MCCREERY Really went to a new level last prep when placing in the G1 Cantala behind Le Romain, take that through Chetwood and he is right in this race. The trials leading in have been quite good and he has to be respected.

No 2 AROD Forgetting the fresh run in the Orr as it was too bad to be true. He gets a host of gear changes here. He is ultra-talented and his European form is top level while his runs in Australia last prep were good.

No 8 NEW TIPPERARY Probably looking for further than this, not sure what his goal will be in this prep. But the lengths he improved last time in was fantastic. Avdulla on gives him his big chance here.

VALUE RUNNER: No 2 AROD

R6 -3:50pm. THERACES.COM.AU SURROUND STAKES - 1400m.

No 1 GLOBAL GLAMOUR Went like a rocket when winning last start, she probably went too fast as she was really tip toing late. The step up to 1400m allows her to control the pace much better. It’s a simple formula, when Global Glamour leads she wins. When she doesn’t lead she loses.

No 2 FOXPLAY Getting out to the 1400m suits her much better here. She was just winding up late when trying to gun down Global Glamour fresh. She is much fitter for that and has a victory at the T&D over that rival in the Spring.

No 4 OMEI SWORD Gets Bowman fresh, but has been paid up twice to run this time in and hasn’t, she seems to have had a few setbacks. That doesn’t spell ready to go first-up over 1400m. However, I believe she is the best talent in the field and could blow them away.

No 3 LA BELLA DIOSA Has a very impressive record behind her in New Zealand. I know nothing of the NZ form, but her Group 1 win in the 1000 Guineas was super impressive. She is a winner first-up and over 1400m. Watch the market and yard on this filly.

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 LA BELLA DIOSA

R7 - 4:30pm. TAB CHIPPING NORTON STAKES - 1600m.

No 9 WINX Probably her best first-up win came in the Apollo, she should only improve off that. Sit back and enjoy watching her go around.

No 1 HARTNELL Ran a huge race first-up closing off well. This poor bloke won't be able to breakthrough (barring an injury) until the Ranvet. He has come back well and should run second to the mare. Kinda like Hay List to Black Caviar at this stage.

No 8 ENDLESS DRAMA Great first Australian run in the Apollo. Never looked like he was going to miss a place. Shame he was beaten 2.8 x 4 by two superstars. He is a Doncaster horse for sure where he will be away from the two champs.

No 2 PREFERMENT Always runs well second-up and could be the value in the trifeactas and first four.

VALUE RUNNER: No value here with WINX $1.10

R8 -5:10pm. GUY WALTER STAKES - 1400m.

No 4 DIXIE BLOSSOMS (Best Bet) Brilliant run first-up with 59kgs giving all horses weight in the race. Back at SWP suits her much better here as she carries 55. From gate 9 she probably pushes forward yet again to get a position and if she does they won’t see which way she goes.

No 3 DANISH TWIST Getting out to the 1400m is much more suitable than the 1200m fresh. She looks to have come back in great order and is hard to beat.

No 1 FIRST SEAL Probably in her last season of racing, she looks to have trialled quite well and has come back in good form. 1400m is her pet distance and she looks set up for a good run fresh.

No 7 HAPPY HANNAH Can run a race fresh here. She may not be at her best until she gets a mile and longer, but last prep she ran well fresh.

VALUE RUNNER: No 7 HAPPY HANNAH

R9 - 5:50pm. BYRON THOMAS RECRUITMENT HANDICAP - 1200m.

No 5 LOFTY'S MENU Is 4/4 first-up and has trialled brilliantly leading in. He was beaten six-lengths in that trial, but they ran their last 600m in 33.08. He did that under his own steam. This time last year he started favourite in the Country Championships, if he brings that form he is super hard to beat.

No 8 YOUR WAY Smashed them over the course and distance last start. She only goes up half a kilo for that win. She has shown that 1200m is her best distance. She is going to get a good run from barrier 5 and is hard to beat.

VALUE RUNNER: No 5 LOFTY'S MENU
