Doomben Betting Tips & Preview
Betting Tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 2.
Back to Doomben where again horses racing up on the pace were generally favoured last Saturday. The rail has gone out to 2.5 metres but that should not change the pattern of racing with front runners again to the fore. There is rain about in Brisbane but Doomben is a good drying track so the surface should be okay. Small fields the order of the day but several tricky races.
- QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)
- Skinny Play: 5/1/3/3,4
- Wide Play: 3,5,6/1,3,9/2,3,5/3,4,7,8
- BEST BEST: R2 – 2. PRONTEZZA
- Next Best Bet: R6 – 1. KARAKABEEL
- Best Roughie: R4 – 10. MIAZUMI
R1 – 12.25pm. BLOKES DAY OUT Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap - 1200m.
NO 1 ALSEEYA Placed 11 of 13 starts which sums up his career to date. Has form around some promising horses and this is very weak. Should nearly win but getting up in the weights.
NO 3 IGNITE THE LIGHT There was a huge wrap on this horse early on but he hasn't shown much in Sydney and NSW provincial tracks where he has one placing. But if the wraps are right he looks the main danger to the top horse.
NO 4 OLYMPIC PRINCE Never saw the inside rail when four deep the whole way last start. Better guide was his previous fighting third at Eagle Farm when led.
NO 2 HEAT SHIELD He has had three trials in Sydney and the latest was in January when went okay. This is so weak he must be a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 HEAT SHIELD
R2 – 1.05pm. SUPERHERO SATURDAY Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap - 1110m.
NO 2 PRONTEZZA (Best Bet) Trialled well and then a shock failure first up. But showed her true ability with an easy last start win at Ipswich and this looks an ideal race for her.
NO 3 SHE'S RIGHT She has won her past two starts in Toowoomba in impressive fashion. Her stable has a great strike rate in Brisbane so looks the main danger.
NO 6 PEKING ROAD She has been racing in much better company and two runs back looked winner in an open three-year-old at the 200m before running third. If it rains she will be extra hard to beat.
NO 5 TICKLED PINK A good winner in the northern rivers before a spell. No trial but has had a jump out and has been placed first-up.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 PEKING ROAD
R3 – 1.40pm. BRC.COM.AU QTIS Three-Years-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate - 1350m.
NO 1 DOT PAINTING Has some very good form in Melbourne and was a handy run in the rich Magic Millions maiden back in January. First start for a new stable here but should be winning on best efforts.
NO 4 MONTANA PINES Good effort two runs back when third in a similar race. Only fair last time but deserves another chance in this weak field.
NO 6 OUR RED JET Had been racing well at the provincial tracks before fair effort at Eagle Farm last start. Won't find a much easier maiden.
NO 8 THE PONTSTER Is yet to run a place in six starts but hasn't been far away. This is his chance to get into the money.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 OUR RED JET
R4 – 2.15pm. MOUNT FRANKLIN Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1200m.
NO 5 SCORCHA Won a trial at Deagon in nice fashion and started favourite when third at first race start at Ipswich. This is easier and looks the main hope.
NO 2 BONSHO Good second at only start on home track in Toowoomba. No official trial but we are told she went okay in a jump out recently.
NO 10 MIAZUMI (Best Roughie) Yet to run a place in five starts but showed form with good recent fourth at the Sunshine Coast. She is related to many winners and her time isn't far away.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 MIAZUMI
R5 – 2.50pm. CHAIRMANS CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 2 Handicap - 1110m.
NO 5 THE AMBASSADORE Didn't have much luck when well beaten in an open three-year-old last start. But ran seconds behind two promising horses at his previous two efforts. This is an ideal race for him.
NO 3 I'M A RIPPA Finished his last campaign off with two wins and a third over longer trips. Has been placed only two first-up runs.
NO 6 GOOD TO BE GREAT Placed past two starts in similar races to this. Has a 3kgs claim so gets into this race well placed at the weights.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 GOOD TO BE GREAT
R6 – 3.25pm. Suez Class 3 Plate - 2020m.
NO 1 KARAKABEEL (Next Best Bet) Very well bred and has been racing well with little luck of late. Out to 2020m is right distance now and has a claim. Looks the winner.
NO 3 LIGHTNING BELL Former Victorian who had good form down there and has been consistent since coming north. Won his last start. Has a few tricks but chance here.
NO 9 HIGH AFRICAINE Showed that staying will be her go with a fast-finishing win at her last start. Ready for this trip now.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 HIGH AFRICAINE
R7 – 4.05pm. Sky Racing Class 1 Handicap - 1615m.
NO 3 DAME VAN WINKLE She has won only one race but has been close up in much better races than this one. She gets her chance for win number two here.
NO 5 ZOFF OF THE WORLD He has been scratched a few times recently due to bad barriers but gets his chance here. Good win last start followed a second to a potential superstar at his previous run.
NO 2 SON OF A BRUT Showed his true ability with a good last-start win in a maiden. This distance looks ideal.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 ZOFF OF THE WORLD
R8 – 4.45pm. SPONSORSHIP@BRC.COM.AU Class 5 Handicap - 1200m.
NO 4 REDSSON He has let us down a few times because he can mix his form. But strong win last time is a pointer to him going well here from a good barrier.
NO 3 CONFRONTING Never runs a bad race but doesn't win too many. Again looks a strong each-way chance.
NO 8 STONECAST Another who doesn't win out of turn. But he tries hard and with a light weight after a claim should be hard to beat.
NO 7 ALWAYS SACRED On his best old form he would beat these by about ten-lengths. Not racing at peak although was a handy third at Eagle Farm last start. Worked with stablemate Houtzen between races on Saturday and was thumped.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 STONECAST
