Eagle Farm (Sat) Betting Tips & Preview

Betting Tips for every race at Eagle Farm. Today’s best bet is in race 8.

Thu, 2 Mar, 1:50 PM

Eagle Farm has been playing towards horses in the lead or at least midfield in recent weeks. The rail is out five metres which usually means horses will get away from the inside. The big problem is rain. A major rain event is predicted for this week for the south east corner but Brisbane has missed most of it. Thunderstorms are still likely so keep a close watch on the track conditions. Overall a low key meeting with some tricky races so go for value.

  • Next Best Bet: R7 – 4. BEATNIKS
  • Best Roughie: R1 – 10. ENDLESS DON

R1 – 12.12pm. IPG CONNECT BenchMark 75 Handicap - 2400m.

NO 4 FRIGHTENING BOLT This is one of the few 2400m races run in Brisbane in any grade so there isn't much form to go on at this trip. But Frightening Bolt has been running well in tougher races and this isn't very tough. On his past two runs in open company he should just about win.

NO 1 MORENDI Has been the staying find in Brisbane of the summer and always grinds out his races. Has got up in the weights but too honest to ignore.

NO 10 ENDLESS DON (Best Roughie) He has won only one race but is always around the place. Races like 2400m may even be too short for him but has a top jockey in Robbie Fradd who will work him into the race at the right time.

NO 7 PEPPA JELLY She was scratched from a race she could have won on Wednesday for this. Handles all types of tracks and was a strong winner in the northern rivers last start.

R2 – 12.47pm. WEDDINGS@TATTERSALL'S No More Than One Metro Win Handicap - 1000m.

NO 1 HI I'M BACK He has never been out of the place this track and does handle wet going. Had no luck from wide barrier when last-start second here a fortnight ago. Was entered for the Open Hcp but stable elected to come to this race.

NO 7 MANAYA Although she has won only one race there is a very big wrap on her. Knocked up the last 100m when fourth first-up over a month ago but suited this trip. She is also entered for the three-year-old but likely to run here.

NO 2 ICE BUCKET He has some good form in Sydney over short courses and he does handle the wet. Always an each-way hope this type of race.

NO 9 HONEY HOLT There has always been plenty of people to tell you she will one day win in open company. She hasn't run since September when won but has a good first-up record and unbeaten on heavy tracks.

R3 – 1.22pm. WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1000m.

NO 1 HOUTZEN Hard race to tip in because Houtzen is entered for races in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. Stable are keen to run her here but she has 63kgs and barrier 11. Even so she is second favourite for the Golden Slipper and should win this.

NO 8 RED HOT MISS Beat some pretty smart older horses in a Toowoomba jump out before winning her only race start. This suits and one of the main hopes.

NO 2 PARADIS IMPERIAL Central Queensland filly who is a city winner and very good last-start third here after getting caught deep. Has an each-way chance again.

R4 – 2.02pm. G.H. MUMM Class 3 Plate - 1600m.

NO 12 VAULTING AMBITION He has some early form around some very good horses who went on to win in Stakes company. Looked like he had eaten six pies when he returned at the Sunshine Coast last month but at his run since was obviously fitter and ran well for second. Fitter again now.

NO 2 NAPAYSHINI Finally back to somewhere near his best form with a win in the northern rivers last start. Probably not suited at the weights but this isn't very hard and handles wet tracks.

NO 5 GEOMETRIST He has hot a patch of form with two wins from his past three starts. Strong Ipswich win last start indicates he will relish this big track and distance.

NO 7 LA CIGALE He has been racing much better of pate with a couple of placings including last start behind a very smart filly. He should race up on the pace here.

R5 – 2.42pm. STAV, ABBY & MATT WITH OSHER'S OPEN Handicap - 1200m.

NO 8 FIERY HEIGHTS The key to this race is the weather. Fiery Heights has been racing well in restricted class and has handy wet track form. He has a light weight here and looks hard to beat.

NO 1 FLAMBOYER He isn't racing at his best but gets back to Eagle Farm here where he is generally most effective. Loves wet tracks and any rain would put him in the finish.

NO 5 TIMELESS PRINCE If the weather stays dry he will righty start 100-1. But if it is wet he can improve lengths and is a stakes winner on a wet track. This race will be run around the time thunderstorms hit so keep very safe in quadrellas, etc.

R6 – 3.22pm. SAPPHIRE RECRUITMENT QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1000m.

NO 4 FRENCH JET He has been scratched from a couple of easier races of late to run here. But the 1000m suits better than recent starts and both his wins have been on wet tracks. He is drawn to get the run of the race here.

NO 5 I'VE GOTTA NEL Last two runs have produced wins at the Sunshine Coast. This isn't all that much harder and has good wet track form. The obvious danger.

NO 6 MOSHKI Has won only one race in South Australia but was placed four times there. He has won two trials in the northern rivers like a smart horse and suited this trip.

NO 7 PLATINUM TYCOON Form in north Queensland has been very good for a race like this. Usually NQ form is only a fair guide to Brisbane races but that has changed in recent times. Respect here.

NO 4 BEATNIKS (Next Best Bet) She has had plenty of chances in stakes races but gets to her pet distance and the track should at least be on the soft side which will suit her. Good winner in blanket finish last start and has her chance to win a black type race in this which isn't strong.

NO 6 FRIENDLY DRAGON Just caught on the line in a blanket finish by Beatniks last start. The wetter the better for him but he does like Eagle Farm.

NO 2 GUEST OF HONOUR Won a trial impressively before being well beaten first start this area but at 1200m. The 1600m looks his best distance and he had a solid trial on Tuesday. Will be good value here.

NO 7 BODEGA NEGRA Forget recent form as he loves wet tracks. He has been up for a very long time but as soon as it rains his price tumbles. This distance suits and he has got down in the weights.

R8 – 4.40pm. CARLTON MID Class 6 Handicap - 1400m.

NO 8 PASSIONFLOWER (Best Bet) She has run an incredible 14 seconds including two good efforts at past two starts. Likes the sting out of the track and should at least get that here. This distance also suits very well and has no weight and a good barrier.

NO 3 DECONSTRUCTED Showed he was back near his best form with good win at Doomben last time. That is good enough to be a real chance again here.

NO 4 BOUND FOR LOVE Trialled well before first-up win in easier company last start. She has very good wet track form and has a strong each-way hope here.
