Eagle Farm Betting Tips & Preview
Betting Tips for every race at Eagle Farm. Today’s best bet is in race 4.
Eagle Farm has again been given a terrible hammering in the mainstream and social media. Frankly it was a disgrace last Saturday as after 2mm of rain overnight it played more like a soft 7 than the soft 5 it was rated. But that wasn't the problem as there appeared to be several fast lanes and more than a few slow lanes. It made punting very hard. The result was a large number of upsets including one by a $101 shot who had won a maiden at her prior start after 21 previous tries. The rail is out 7.5 metres on Wednesday with big fields in some races so be careful.
QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)
R4 – 3. THIS IS AUSTRALIA
Next Best Bet:
R7 – 5. SOLAR BURST
R3 – 5. BAGUS
R1 – 12.25pm. SHANE SCRIVEN 1984-1985 Maiden Handicap - 2206m.
NO 3 TOBACCO ROAD This is close to the weakest maiden ever run at Eagle Farm. But at least Tobacco Road has some form over 1600m and looks like 2200m would be a nice distance for him. Although a big step up in trip looks hard to beat here.
NO 1 NOVATIVE Also stepping up sharply in journey but has shown some ability and bred to be a very good stayer which is enough to give him a chance here.
NO 4 TORRES DEL PAINE Ran second three starts back at this track and distance and beat Saturday's $101 winner home that day. Failed a couple since but this suits.
NO 2 CANTERBURY KING Just plods away and gets no faster in his races. Has been placed at this distance and best hope would be for the rest of the field to fail to stay.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 TORRES DEL APINE
R2 – 1.05pm. CHRIS MUNCE 1988-1989 Maiden Plate - 1500m.
NO 9 ROSE GARDEN Placed both starts in handy maidens and looks well placed here at the weights. The 1500m should be no problem and is the one to beat.
NO 4 ENGRAVED Has generally been a disappointment but gets to a distance which should suit here. This race isn't strong and has each-way claims.
NO 1 LUJAC Has had 24 starts and failed to win but in at least half of those he has looked a real chance at the 200m only to fade late. Doesn't seem to matter which distance he races at it seems to be his race pattern.
NO 2 PRODUCE ME LATE Had good NSW country form before handy effort when placed at the Sunshine Coast first start this area. Fitter now.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 ENGRAVED
R3 – 1.40pm. JIM BYRNE 1990- 1991 Fillies and Mares Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1000m.
NO 3 CONNIVING Turned in two good trials before first-up defeat in a Highway race at Rosehill. This far easier and has good overall form.
NO 1 STICK WITH ME Handy mare on her day who did little first-up. But has a good second-up record and better suited with a senior rider taking over here.
NO 5 BAGUS (BEST ROUGHIE) As an early two-year-old she was among the best in Brisbane but recent form before a spell was terrible. She has reportedly been working solidly for her comeback which gives her a chance here.
NO 7 RED HANDLE Starred at the trials before well beaten first-up in a hot race and then showed true form when held on to win at Ipswich. This harder but has a 2kgs claim.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 BAGUS
R4 - 2.15pm. ALAN RUSSELL 1994-1996 C,G&E Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1000m.
NO 3 THIS IS AUSTRALIA (BEST BET) Former boom Sydney galloper who was sent to Matt Dunn at Murwillumbah to finally win some races. Did that last time in a slick effort which shows he is ready to win plenty more.
NO 1 ALL TROOPS Honest galloper who has a 3kgs claim here which will be a big help. Never far away and always an each-way hope.
NO 4 KHALEEQ Got an easy lead last time and too strong but may not have that luxury here. Looks another with each-way hopes.
NO 6 CAPTAIN TANGO He was a big late tip on course last start and romped in after sitting mid field and deep. Has to be a chance again on that effort.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 CAPTAIN TANGO
R5 – 2.50pm. MICHAEL RODD 2001-2004 QTIS Three-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate - 1300m.
NO 5 FALLACY Former Victorian who had two solid trials before first-up second this track and suited here by the extra 100m of this race.
NO 9 HIDDEN BUDGET Looked home first-up at Eagle Farm from a spell last start but run down on the line. The winner turned in an exceptional run to beat her last time.
NO 10 MADAM AMAROUGE She had good form last campaign but recent efforts since returning from a spell are just fair. This should suit better.
NO 6 FUN FOR ME Another who trialled okay before handy second at Grafton last start. Looks to have come back a stronger horse.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 FUN FOR ME
R6 – 3.25pm. RIC MCMAHON 2006-2007 Class 4 Handicap - 1835m.
NO 4 MARGIN TRADER Former Victorian who was big odds when narrowly beaten at second start this area. Fitter now and this distance is ideal.
NO 2 SLYDINI Best known as a wet tracker but form on dry tracks includes a good win and handy third. Has been looking for this distance and hopes are strong again.
NO 1 MR LEBROCK Just fair in a harder race at first run back from a spell. He has always shown staying potential and this distance and class are perfect for him.
NO 3 REALLY REILLY Rarely runs a bad race but doesn't win many. Never been placed this track but this does look the right distance for him.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 1 MR LEEBROCK
R7 – 4.05pm. RACEZONE NATIONAL APPRENTICE SERIES Class 3 Plate - 1400m.
NO 5 SOLAR BURST (NEXT BEST BET) Turned in the run of the day when ran very fast final 200m to finish third in a 1200m race. Gets back in her races and this race is for apprentice riders. But with a clear run down the outside should nearly win what is a most difficult race. So we will get good odds.
NO 12 DREAMS APLENTY Excellent run first-up when started favourite and only caught last 50m. Is rated a stakes horse at best so well placed under Plate weight scale. But has the outside barrier.
NO 8 ZENDAYE Has ability and racing solidly without putting in a huge finish. Another suited this track and distance.
NO 14 SUGARPARMA Has raced well this area before but recent efforts are in Sydney where she has been good without winning. This is easiest race she has been in for a while.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 16 SUGARPARMA
R8 – 4.45pm. TEGAN HARRISON 2013-2014 Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.
NO 6 VITAL LOVE Good Doomben winner three starts ago before failing in far stronger race and then handy third at Ipswich last start. Drawn well and has a light weight here.
NO 3 HIGH SPECS Quality mare who has won two and been placed third at past three runs. This isn't much harder than recent races so looks hard to beat.
NO 1 CHAMAREL Won a trial most impressively in Toowoomba but then well beaten first-up at Doomben. Not much went right in that race and had solid NSW provincial form in previous campaign.
NO 11 DIAMOND ON COMMAND Runs are well spaced but strong winner last start in the northern rivers and previous form this area solid.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 1 CHAMAREL
