Big ten-race card to preview due to a few washouts in the last couple of weeks. Horses need to get a run in before the bigger races later in the carnival. The sun has been out and the outlook looks ok, but some showers may be about. Think we will have a heavy track regardless and the rail is +3m.

NO 7 ALMANZORA Trialled brilliantly leading into debut run here, she looks to have group ability.

 

NO 1 FAEGER Ran well on debut and should be better suited second start.

 

NO 2 AUGUSTUS Has trialled well enough leading in and gets a soft run.

 

NO 8 AQUA D’IVINA Should swim through the going off breeding (Mum was as superstar).

NO 9 MILEAGE (BEST ROUGHIE) Trialled brilliantly twice and will be overs due to connections.

 

NO 1 MR GRUMPY May not be the best horse, but is rock hard fit and ran fast time last start.

 

NO 2 ASTORIA Should get through it off breeding and trialled well.

 

NO 5 PAPER TRADE Has trialled well leading in and the stable is going well.

NO 2 FIFTEEN SUNFLOWERS Flying this time in and loves wet going and is hard to beat.

 

NO 3 WING SNIPPER Unbeaten on heavy going and loves the short course

 

NO 5 ALPEN ROSE Has been building to a win this time in and loves it wet.

 

NO 4 ROSE OF MAN Has good wet stats, and has been running well enough lately.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 3 WING SUPPER

R4 - 1:45pm. #THERACES HANDICAP - 1600m.

NO 6 POTENT FORCE (NEXT BEST BET) Went brilliantly when first-up in over a year at Rosehill, the step up to 1600m suits brilliantly and he is hard to beat.

 

NO 11 TAMARACK Won brilliantly last start and steps up here.

 

NO 9 EARTH Was unlucky first-up, strips fitter and 1600m suits.

 

NO 1 HOLLYWOOD MO Steps up to 1600m, which should suit better.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 EARTH

R5 - 2:20pm TAB HANDICAP - 1300m.

NO 7 DRACHENFELS Should be ready to peak third-up from a spell and won his maiden well last start.

 

NO 6 DORTMUND Bolted up last start, but meats Drachenfels 0.5kgs worse for a loss two back.

 

NO 3 AJANI Beat Dortmund on the Gold Coast and has been in good form.

 

NO 10 OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS Should have gone a lot closer last start, second-up he strips fitter.

R6 - 2:55pm. BOWERMANS OFFICE FURNITURE HANDICAP - 1300m.

NO 5 NOTHING BOX (BEST BET) Won in brilliant fashion first-up at Rosehill. He had improvement to come from that and being by Mossman he should swim.

 

NO 1 JEMADAR Resumes here and has trialled well enough.

 

NO 7 LE CAVALIER Back off a freshen, has a good soft-track record.

 

NO 10 VALIANT MATE Has a good soft-track record and wasn’t too bad last start.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 7 LE CAVILIER

R7 -3:35pm. TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP - 1300m.

NO 7 GRETNA Should be ready to go now third-up from a spell. She bumped into a better wet tracker last start.

 

NO 2 COTTAGE Full of ability, but unknown on a wet track.

 

NO 5 ANISHA Brings a good wet track record to this, and trialled well off the freshen.

 

NO 8 MODHA Has been in good form as of late and is a good wet tracker.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 5 ANISHA

R8 - 4:10pm. CASINO PRINCE@VINERY HANDICAP - 1200m.

NO 4 BRAVISSIMO Brilliant when winning second-up, he looks to have group ability.

 

NO 5 I THOUGHT SO Had all favours and fell in first-up, should be fitter for that and hard to beat.

 

NO 2 NEW UNIVERSE Brings a good record to this first-up run and has trialled well.

 

NO 9 PEDWAY Won in brilliant time first-up. Heavy track no issue off breeding.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 NEW UNIVERSE

R9 - 4:45pm. TAB REWARDS HANDICAP - 1400m.

NO 2 MORTAR PLATOON Won well at his second start in Australia, he should only improve off that.

 

NO 3 MONOGRAM Is a heavy track winner in the past and has trialled well enough.

 

NO 4 HE’S A GIVEN Loves the slop and wouldn’t mind it wetter, bolted up in similar conditions two back.

 

NO 5 STAMPEDE Will be fit enough here as he is from Gai’s yard. But whether or not he needs further is the question.

 

VALUE RUNNER: NO 3 MONOGRAM

R10 - 5:25pm. AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB HANDICAP - 1600m.

NO 10 RIGHTEOUS MATE Wasn’t fit enough first-up and has had a good trial hit out since. He has the class to win.

 

NO 2 POSITIVE PROBLEMS Charged through the wet going last start and should be fit enough for this.

 

NO 12 LEAD CHOREOGRAPHER Was good enough in his first Australian start for Waller, Europeans always improve second run in.

 

NO 7 CHANDANA Down in weight and is a wet track winner in the past
