The Alister Clark for three-year-olds is the feature of tonight’s return to night racing at Moonee Valley. A good field of three-year-olds headed by Farson has been assembled for the Group 2040m race. The track is rated as a Good 4 and the rail will be at the true position. The weather will be mild with a maximum on 23C and minimum on 12C. The evening will be overcast.

No6 SAM’S IMAGE Has done nothing wrong at his two starts. Posted a debut win before running a strong third down the straight 1000m at Flemington on March 4. Goes up 2kg to 58kg.

 

No8 SPEED STREET Hails from a leading Sydney yard but making his debut in Victoria. Won a trial over 800m at Warwick Farm over 800m on February 20. Top jockey Stephen Baster rides at debut.

 

No7 SNITZEPEG Is a well-bred youngster by top sire Snitzel and is out of the leading Victorian yard of Darren Weir. The colt has no exposed trial form but he is ridden by leading stable rider Dean Yendell.

R2 – 7.00pm. WT Partnership Handicap – 1600m.

No4 FASTNET LATINA (BEST BET) Irish bred but an American-raced galloper who has excelled at his two Australian starts remaining unbeaten. Started as a $2.70 favourite last time and won the race on the line at Sandown over 1240m on February 15. Jordan Childs’ 1.5kg drops his handicap to 57.5kg and can land a hat-trick here for OTI racing.

 

No6 COSMIC SONG Has won three and been placed second at past four starts in the provincials.

 

No5 SNIPER Had two starts back and now is primed for an assault.

 

No1 OUR LUCKY OMENS Ran fifth in the Launceston Cup and fresh off a 23-day break.

No4 PUNT CLUB Is a short-course specialist and loves this track with a win and two seconds here. Latest sound second over 1000m here on February 17. Drops 1.5kg and gets top hoop Damian Lane to ride over the 955m.

 

No7 ARIZONA WILDCAT Hails from a top Adelaide stable and carries no weight with Brandon Stockdale’s claim dropping her handicap to 52kg. Fresh here after winning over 1000m at Morphettville on February 4.

 

No2 AUNTY MO Held her ground when finishing third over 955m here against her own sex first-up on February 17. Apprentice Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim drops her weight to 57kg and must have each-way chances.

 

No6 REINE HAPPY Her form on the outer provincial tracks was excellent last campaign. Capped the preparation with a second at Echuca over 1209m on August 22. Top jockey Dwayne Dunn is the new rider and watch.

No11 WANGAALA One of the youngest in the field but also the one with the most upside. Romped home by 5½ lengths to win her maiden over 1600m at Ballarat on February 26. Ace jockey Damian Lane rides again. Top showing.

 

No12 BLOODLETTE Was backed from $3 into $2.50 before posting an emphatic win over 2000m in a maiden at Wanrnambool on February 23. She has heaps of upside as is one of the youngsters here and is from the stables of Darren Weir.

 

No4 STONE WARRIOR Was a $3 favourite before posting a smart win over 1800m at Morphettville on March 4. With apprentice Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim his impost drops to 59kg. Like as an each-way hope.

 

No2 AL SHAMEEL Lumped 59kg to victory over 1850m at Kyneton on March 6. Beau Mertens’ 2kg claims drops his weight to 59kg. He won with a leg in the air last time and demands to be respected on his recent form.

R5 – 8.30pm. 1Print Kerry Gillespie Plate – 1000m.

No5 BELLA VINO Is a Sydney trained filly who has a good record. Latest ran a solid second over 1000m here at debut in Victoria on February 24. That was first-up from a 115-day break and she will have plenty of admirers.

 

No2 KISSEE MEE Her form on country tracks is top notch and she comes here off a smart win over 1100m at Kilmore on February 9. Beau Mertens’ 2kg claim reduces her weight to 57kg. Drawn well in four to get a soft run.

 

No8 ATHENA LASS She is bound to be improved on first-up third over 1000m here on February 24. Gets Ben Allen’s 1.5kg reducing her impost to 55.5kg. She has a great record at this track and over the short-courses.

 

No4 BALANCING ACT She is flying high on the provincial tracks and chases a hat-trick here. Latest won over 1000m at Werribee on February 24. She has 58.5kg, which is a half-kilo more in weight than at her last start.

No7 DEMONSTRATE Gets Melbourne’s premier jockey Craig Williams to ride at his return. Strung together a hat-trick last campaign before flopping at his last start at Flemington on November 5. Solid first-up record.

 

No9 SEBRING SUN Ran a solid fourth first-up from a 123-day break over 1100m at Morphettville on March 4. Leading stable rider Dean Yendall rides here and he drops from 56.5kg to 54kg, which must be a help.

 

No10 BASSETT Struck back at his knockers with an effortless 4½ length win over 1200m at Sandown on March 1. Beau Mertens keeps the ride but cannot use his 2kg claim here. On the limit on 54kg.

 

No3 RELDAS Chased steadily without making much impact first-up when finishing fourth down the straight 1000m at Flemington on March 4. Eased in betting from $8 to $13 and expect a better effort here.

No1 FARSON (NEXT BEST BET) Is stomping his opposition having landed a hat-trick latest scored a Group 2 win in the Autumn Classic (1800m) at Caulfield on February 25. Has won four of his six starts and under the set-weight conditions of this feature he looks well-off. Started in Sydney but making his impact in Victoria.

 

No9 LYNCH MOB (BEST ROUGHIE) Is a maiden but won’t be for too long. He stormed home last start.

 

No6 CAPTAIN RHETT Big jump from maiden to Group 2 last start but did very well.

 

No7 ARCTIC FLOW Provincial form is classy with two smart wins from past three starts.

R8 – 10.00pm. Spicer Throroughbreds Handicap – 1200m.

No2 EXOCET Was an imposing winner at Caulfield last preparation. She resumes here and has the blinkers removed. With apprentice Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim carries 57kg and is drawn on the rail. Rates highly.

 

No5 EL RADA Is a consistent mare who has won twice and been placed three times at seven starts. Ran well fresh when finishing third over 1200m at Sandown on March 1. Michael Dee is the new rider and blinkers are off.

 

No10 PLENTY TO LIKE Improved on her first-up run to win second-up over 1000m at Cranbourne on March 3. She goes up a half-kilo to 57kg and will be one of the fancied runners here. Luke Nolen rides again.

 

No8 DOC’S HERO Boxed on okay when running third over 1000m here on February 24. With apprentice Mitchell Aitken’s 3kg claim is to carry 54.5kg. She was backed from $13 into $8.50 last time. Rate as an each-way chance.
