Brisbane has had heavy rain all week which means Doomben will be at best on the soft side on Saturday. It is a good drying track but will need to be. There is usually a pattern with front runners suited early and then late in the day back markers coming into their own. The rail is out 0.5 metres which means there is a large pad near the fence which wasn't raced on at the Wednesday meeting.
QUADDIES (Races 5-6-7-8)
Skinny Play: 2,6,7/1,3/9/8,12
Wide Play: 2,4,6,7/1,3,6,13/2,3,4,9/2,8,12,15
BEST BEST: R4 – 2. CANTBUYBETTER
Next Best Bet: R7 – 9. BEATNIKS
Best Roughie: R1 – 10. AMELIA JANE
NO 2 SNITZ Usually a horse drawn the outside barrier from this start is a definite no but on a wet track Snitz might make light of the barrier. Good winner only start at Grafton and bred to be a duck.
NO 1 ACCEPTILE One of the most consistent two-year-olds in Brisbane and back to his right distance here. Was third behind Houtzen and Miss Exfactor last start which reads well for this.
NO 7 ROYAL MYTH An experienced two-year-old who has run some good races in the city. Far too good at Gatton last start and while this harder, has a chance.
NO 10 AMELIA JANE (BEST ROUGHIE) First starter who has not had an official trial but reportedly went okay in a jump out. Gets in very well at the weights after the 3kgs claim. Stable never brings their two-year-old to town for their first start unless they can gallop.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 10 AMELIA JANE
NO 2 OUTRAGED Has been back in best form of late and has had no luck last two when races were turned into a sprint home from the 600m. This should be more truly run and he has been placed twice on wet tracks.
NO 3 MORENDI The staying find of the Brisbane season he has been very strong at the end of his races. Another who needs the pace on and won't want a really wet track.
NO 4 MAGNATUNE Good win in restricted class last start and while this is harder he is fit and very good on wet tracks. He will be strong at the finish.
NO 5 COMACINA He never runs a bad race and last start was a good third behind Morendi over 2200m. Fitter for that and does handle soft tracks.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 MAGNATUDE
NO 1 PERILOUS LOVE On a normal track you would declare her a special. She won by five-lengths last start against a better field than this and she is being talked about as an Australian Oaks horse. But 59kgs on a wet track will be the big worry here.
NO 9 NORDIC SHOW She is a nerve case before each of her races which doesn't help at 2000m. But she is promising and provided she doesn't run her race before the start she can win here.
NO 3 ERCOLANO Was a strong maiden winner last start and indicates the 2000m is his go. Not much depth to this race so has a hope.
NO 4 UP THE TEMPO Battled on well for second behind Perilous Love last time but was well beaten. Will need to improve to beat her but still an each-way hope.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 NORDIC SHOW
NO 2 CANTBUYBETTER (BEST BET) Looked one of the best things beaten all season when unplaced in an open company race last start. He has failed both starts in 1600m races but in better company than this. Has been placed on a soft track but won't want a bog.
NO 1 DANCE OF HEROES Doesn't win out of turn but has form around some very good horses in the south. Again, no champ on wet tracks and won't want it too heavy.
NO 3 DECONSTRUCTED Has shown some of his best form lately and a good third at Eagle Farm last start. Goes well on soft tracks.
NO 7 NEUSCHWANSTEIN He was a good winner two starts back and does handle wet tracks. The pace should be on here which will suit him.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 3 DECONSTRUCTED
NO 6 FORBIDDEN KISSES Strong win in midweek class two starts back and should have won when second in a Saturday race last start. This isn't very strong and has a top jockey here.
NO 7 KUZNETSOVA Promising mare who was never in the right part of the track last start. Handles wet tracks well and looks nicely placed here.
NO 2 CHAMAREL Did the right thing by us when winning at huge odds at Eagle Farm last start. Had trialled well previously and has handy southern form. No champion in the wet but handles it okay.
NO 4 KEEP ON ROCKING Form looks terrible and will be big odds. But handles the wet and there have been excuses for his poor runs of late. Could shock.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 CHAMAREL
NO 3 PRIVLAKA Very smart on wet tracks and races well fresh. Having first start in four months but has had a jump out to ready him for this. Looks hard to beat, wet or dry.
NO 6 DON'T TELL MAMA Another who handles wet tracks and is having her first start in a month. Likes the pace on early in her races and she will get that here. Watch for her late.
NO 13 RHYME NOR RHYTHM Promising galloper who has not had things go his way past two starts. Has been placed twice this track and should have won both times. He was placed only run on a wet track.
NO 1 QUATRONIC The class runner of the field who was injured last start when well beaten. Can handle soft tracks but doesn't want it too wet.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 DON'T TELL MAMA
NO 9 BEATNIKS (NEXT BEST BET) Coming back in distance here but loves wet tracks and she will be very strong at the finish. There are only few occasions she doesn't figure in the finish. Down in class from last start unlucky third in stakes company and has been freshened for this.
NO 2 FLAMBOYER Tough as old boots and loves wet tracks. Has won this track but never at this distance. He likes to lead and there doesn't look to be much in the way of challengers here. Good effort in stakes company last start.
NO 3 JOPA Another tough veteran who is backing up for his third week in a row here. But loves wet tracks and loves the 1350m at this track. Hard to beat on good second in stakes company last week.
NO 4 SIEGFRIED Has really stepped up a notch in recent weeks winning twice and finishing a good second. Extra good win last start when never on the track.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 3 JOPA
NO 8 HELAROCITY Lightly-raced but showing a lot of potential in the country and provincial areas. Gets in well at the weights and has been placed on a wet track. Strong win last start in easier company.
NO 12 FLO JO SNIP She knows only one way to race and that is to get out and go flat out. Surprised some when she won at 1400m two starts back but is very honest. One thing you can bet she will lead these. She has only missed a place once on a wet track.
NO 15 KIM NOIR Good winner in midweek class and then found the 1630m too far last time. Never been on a wet track but bred to handle it.
NO 2 MOTION GRANTED Strong winner at Ballina last start and has been racing well in this area as well. Has been placed six of seven starts on wet tracks.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 15 KIM NOIR
