Midweek racing from Newcastle where we have the last of the provincial championships qualifiers. We have a shock this week, the sun is out in Sydney and the greater parts of NSW that have been affected by the rain recently. We are on the new course proper, which we saw on the weekend drains fantastically well. The rail is out 3m the circumference and we will be on a good track.

Best Roughie: R8 N6 APPOINT PERCY
NO 5 MEROVEE Bred in the purple (Frankel – More Strawberries) and has trialled quite well leading in. The open expanses of Newcastle suit.
NO 1 ATARAXIA Good on debut at the course in what looks to be a good race, they good ran time that day too.
NO 4 FAEGER Comes out of two good races at his first two starts, he looks to be a nice colt in the making.
NO 8 SANCTIONED Out of a good race on debut too, should be improved for that effort and be hard to beat here.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 8 SANCTIONED
NO 4 NOIRE (BEST BET) Up to the 1400m here suits much better than the 1200m on debut, he was just run down late there. With Bowman on board he will be able to dictate terms and roll along here.
NO 7 VIVA LA ROMANCE Found the line quite well on debut and is suited up to 1400m here.
NO 9 SOLO SONG Has been quite good at her last few runs, I like the winkers going on here, as it will sharpen her up.
NO 6 VANZETTA Was good enough on debut, she should be improved for that.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 SOLO SONG
NO 6 OBSCURA (NEXT BEST BET) Fitness gave out late fresh when first-up for around a year over the 1350m. The step up to 1600m looks perfect now. He has a touch of class about him and may be a QLD Derby player.
NO 3 INTROIT Has been good enough in both runs so far to suggest a win isn’t too far away.
NO 2 FIRST COURRIER Has the race fitness of the 1600m at his last two on his side. He may well roll forward and be one to run down.
NO 12 NOT TO BE CAUGHT May need a touch further, but she has a touch of class about her.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 2 FIRST COURRIER
NO 3 CHAMPAGNE READY Trialled up well enough leading into this to be competitive, she has been competitive in better races.
NO 4 REIBY RAMPART Ran well in the Championships qualifier last start, this may well be a lead-up run.
NO 5 LADY SANSA Won in nice fashion last start, this looks to be a good next step for her here.
NO 10 VINNIE POWER Should be improved second up from a spell here after a good run fresh at Goulburn.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 REIBY RAMPART
NO 2 AXIOMATIC Banking on her ability rather than her fitness here, I think she is well above ability and her wins last time in showed that. Trials good.
NO 4 BRAVISSIMO Was ok enough last start when fresh for a month on a bottomless track, the win previously was strong.
NO 8 THE PINNACLE Big winner last start at his maiden, he has had a trial since to stay up to the mark.
NO 10 CROSS STITCH Resumes here, but has solid form around her and could make that quantum leap here.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 BRAVISSIMO
NO 1 NOTHING BOX Well suited with the 3kg claim here to roll along and give them something to run down.
NO 3 TAMARACK Didn’t handle the heavy conditions last start, the win previous to that was brilliant.
NO 5 MUTARAKEM Overseas form is ok enough and the trial leading in was quite good.
NO 9 POWER LAW Has been good in both runs this time in and has found another race to be competitive in.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 9 POWER LAW
NO 3 KRUSTY Has found a winnable race here after two good runs back from a spell. He has been working towards this.
NO 2 INTERLOCUTER O’Shea seems to have his imports going quite well at the minute and this horse has trialled well enough coming in.
NO 4 UP ‘N’ ROLLING Good NZ form and has been gelded since coming across, the trial was good.
NO 8 SEDANZER Was good enough in the Canberra Guineas and has claimed down here. That form looks good enough.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 UP ‘N’ ROLLING
NO 1 BERETTA Was good enough at Wyong without luck, the 1400m here suits as does the open expanses of Newcastle.
NO 5 OLD MAN SAM Was good in a strong race fresh at Kembla, getting to 1400m now suits perfectly.
NO 4 SET PIECE Should be improved for the first-up effort, where he just missed in the finish. 1400m now suits.
NO 6 APPOINT PERCY (BEST ROUGHIE) Good enough at Rosehill over the 1200m. Now up to 1400m third-up looks perfect.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 6 APPOINT PERCY
NO 4 JEMADAR Didn’t handle the wet going fresh, second-up now on a dry track looks perfect.
NO 7 INVINCIBLE GEORGE Finds a winnable race here after solid runs this time in, he is full of ability and can go onto better things.
NO 11 VIGILANCE Done a good job in winning all three starts so far. The draw is perfect for him and he will be hard to beat again.
NO 13 DIXIE CHICK If the real Dixie Chick turns up she could well blow them away. If she wants to be a horse she can win.
VALUE RUNNER: NO 4 JEMADAR
