No3 MARCKS MAHA Has been flying on the outer provincial tracks but may get a new rider with Dean Yendell injured on Monday in a fall at Mildura. Won past two over 2000m and 2156m.


No1 REFECTORY Is a hurdler who can go well on the Flat. Last start lumped 64.5kg to run second in a 3200m hurdle at Pakenham on March 16. Will carry 60kg in a small field.


No5 SEE LINE WOMAN Has no weight with Beau Mertens’ claim reducing her handicap to 52.5kg and won over 2500m two starts ago. Latest ran sixth over 2400m here on March 22.

No1 MERCHANT NAVY Is a former $350,000 yearling who lived up to his big price-tag with an effortless 1¾ length win over 12000m at his debut at Pakenham on March 2. Mark Zahra keeps the ride and he again jumps from an inner gate on the rail.


No4 CHAVIN Will be making his debut for the Godolphin stable and is bred to make ground. Showed improvement at his second trial to run third over 800m at Cranbourne on March 20.


No2 PLATINUM Scored the initial win for his sire Animal Kingdom when he crossed from gate 12 to comfortably win over 1200m at Ballarat on March 21. He has again drawn wide in nine but rates highly.


No10 SUPER SNOB Has been placed third at her past three starts. Latest was third to Platinum over 1200m at Ballarat on March 21. The blinkers come off and she gets a kilo decrease in weight down to 55kg.



MERCHANT NAVY Sandown AUS 05:00 - Winner

R3 – 2.30pm. Comcater Handicap – 1000m.

No5 MOTOWN LIL Was an easing $4.60 favourite when posting a narrow win over 1000m here on March 22. She stays on the same weight on 58.5kg and she meets a milder field here.


No8 ARIAZ Was the equal favourite with Motown Lil when running solidly to finish fourth over 1000m here on March 22. With Beau Merten’s claim she carries a mere 55kg and respect.


No4 ESSENCE OF TERROR Was returning off a light break when finishing a sound third at double figure odds over 1000m at Moonee Valley on March 17. She carries the same weight on 58.5kg and has claims.


No7 ATHENA LASS Almost fell as a result of knuckling over before running last over 1000m at Moonee Valley on March 17. Against her own sex here and with senior rider Mark Zahra to partner makes appeal.



MOTOWN LILSandown AUS 05:30 - Winner

R4 – 3.00pm. Joe Chila Memorial – 1600m.

No2 SINGLE NOTE (BEST BET) Was strongly supported into $3.30 before racing away to a smart 1½ length win over 1600m against her own sex here on March 22. With the in-form Beau Mertens’ 1.5kg claim her impost is reduced to 58kg and she is drawn well in gate seven. She is searching for a fourth straight win here and makes strong appeal.


No4 HOT RUBY Eased in the betting out to $3.70 before finishing fifth over 1400m at Pakenham on March 23.


No7 CHLOE’S COMET Has been winning very well on the rain-affected track in NSW and is from the stable of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. She romped home over 1500m at Albury.


No9 ANGEL EIGHT Was a good effort to run second to Throssell over 1400m at Pakenham on March 23.



R5 – 3.30pm. Elaren Security Services Handicap – 1300m.

No6 PECANS Is a Godolphin-trained filly racing in a deep event. She ran a good second over 1200m at Canberra on March 5 at her last start. She gets the services of Dwayne Dunn here. Respect.


No8 THAT RINGS A BELL Won her maiden here two starts ago. Latest was the $2.40 favourite when running fourth over 1600m against her own age and sex here on February 22. Damien Oliver is again booked.


No1 ALASKAN SUN Careered away to a clever one-length win over 1300m here on March 22. She has been up for a while but continues to thrive but she does have a few negatives like jumping from 12 and 60.5kg.


No9 WINDBERN Posted a fighting debut win at Pakenham before running third over 1400m at Cranbourne at her last start on November 4. She hails from a top yard and is drawn well in five.



R6 – 4.00pm. Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap – 1300m.

No5 CHATEAU CHEVAL She is going to relish this class after racing down the straight 1200m at Flemington to finish third on March 18. With apprentice Beau Mertens’ claim she carries 57kg. Good chance.


No3 REWARD THE DREAM (BEST ROUGHIE) Has a good strike-rate and was a $3.70 favourite when running third over 1100m at Bendigo on March 14. With apprentice Ben Thompson’s 2kg allowance he will carry 58kg.


No10 DOWNHEARTED With apprentice Chris Caserta’s 3kg claim will carry 54.5kg and rates with good claims on last start effort, when finishing second over 1300m here on March 29. Backs up.


No11 GIN LIZZIE Was racing first-up when running a solid fifth over 1200m at Moonee Valley on March 17. Katelyn Mallyon keeps the ride and she drops 2kg to 56.5kg. The barrier is a setback in 13.



R7 – 4.30pm. Le Pines Funerals Handicap – 1600m.

No10 SOJU WARRIOR (NEXT BEST BET) Was well backed into a $3.50 favourite before tearing away to an impressive 6¾ length win over 1550m at Morphettville on March 11. He gets the top jockey Damien Oliver as his new partner and goes up a half-kilo to 57.5kg. Perfectly drawn (3) to make it three wins from his past four starts.


No1 BEL BURGESS Has been imposing at winning at his past three starts.


No11 PROANE Is a former Sydney galloper who was working home well here last time.


No13 LOST COMMAND Fought tooth and nail last time off a light break.

R8 – 5.00pm. Dream Thoroughbreds Handicap – 1600m.

No3 NETHERFIELD Has yet to finish outside of a place at three starts. Latest ran a good third over 1600m here on March 15 with Jamie Mott on top. Mott steers again but he does jump 3kg to 59.5kg.


No14 THINK LIKE A BIRD Was steady in the betting when finishing a sound sixth over 1600m here on March 22. Dwayne Dunn takes the ride for Team Hawkes and stays on the same weight on 56.5kg.


No11 SIMPLY HEAVEN Showed pace to lead before finishing fourth over 1400m here against her own sex on March 22. She is against the males here but has shown plenty of courage.


No9 SPANNER HEAD Came from off the speed to chase hard but no match for Odeon and ran sixth over 1400m at Bendigo on March 14. That was first-up from a 116-day break and goes better second-up.
