Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 6.
Doomben has done a great job in wet weather of late and returns to a dry track on Saturday. It means a fair surface on Saturday where all horses should get their chances. There are good sized fields which means plenty of value. This is the last meeting before the winter carnival starts and it is a chance for the second string horses to win races.

Wide Play: 3,4,9,10/1,3,11,14/3,6,11,12/2,3,6,13
BEST BET: R8 – 3. DANCE OF HEROES
Next Best Bet: R2 – 3. SNITZ
Best Roughie: R1 – 9. SCARLET POET
R1 – 12.12pm. James Boag's Premium Doomben 10,000 Day Benchmark 75 Handicap -2220m.
No 2 TONI MAY Most of her racing has been at the Sunshine Coast but she should be suited at Doomben. She had a bit of trouble on the wet track when second at the Sunshine Coast last time. But better suited this trip.
No 9 SCARLET POET (BEST ROUGHIE) She had been racing fairly in these races when ridden for pace. But last start was ridden back in the field and stormed home to run a good third. A repeat would see her in the finish.
No 6 KARAKABEEL Getting costly but continues to be around the money all the time. We would like to see him get a soft lead in a race like this. Doesn't appear to be much other pace here.
No 7 BRONTE BABE Had two good staying race wins before not handling the wet at the Gold Coast last start. This distance suits and light weight hope here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 9 SCARLET POET
R2 – 12.47pm. Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day QTIS Colts and Geldings Two Year Old - 1200m.
No 3 SNITZ (NEXT BEST BET) Good winner at first start in the northern rivers and then should have won second-up at Doomben. Looks like 1200m will be ideal and looked very uncomfortable on wet track last start. This drier track will suit.
No 2 CAPITAL GAIN Looked a certainty beaten when second this track last start. This is easier and has had a break. Being set for the stakes races in the winter and a top show here.
No 5 OUR MANTRA Sydney visitor who has handy form in NSW. This is a nice race for him and is perfectly drawn to use his pace.
No 8 BOLD XAVVI He was a big tip on the morning of his only start where he got caught wide and was well beaten. But he has won a trial since in good fashion. Deserves another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 BOLD XAVVI
R3 – 1.22pm. Darley Kingsford Smith Cup Day QTIS Two Year old Fillies Hcp - 1200m.
No 6 MEIKAS This is far harder than last start win in a Sunshine Coast two-year-old. But she was very impressive and should get the run of the race from barrier four. Might be above average.
No 1 MAKE MY OWN LUCK She has form around some of the best two-year-olds in Queensland. Can get back in her races but she has a strong finish and there is a lot of early pace here. Watch for her late.
No 3 SKATE TO PARIS Promising filly who finished fast to run second at Toowoomba last start. Some chance she won't back up here but if she runs will be hard to beat.
No 7 SUN DECK Led all the way to win over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast last start. This harder and probably wants further but there is a good wrap on her.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 MAKE MY OWN LUCK
R4 – 1.57pm. Ascot Green Carnival High Tea Open Handicap - 1050m.
No 2 STRATURBO Much travelled galloper who is a regular visitor to Brisbane. Has won in stakes company this track and distance. He won a recent trial at Warwick Farm and does race well fresh. Hard to beat here.
No 3 SONY LEGEND He is better over longer distances but does race very well fresh. He hasn't had an official trial but has had a jump out to be ready for this. He should sit just off the pace and sprint home fast.
No 7 LADY JETSETTER She returned to her best form when second this track and distance last time behind a smart Sydney horse. This is her pet track so keep safe.
No 8 TISANI TOMSO was held up last start before running on strongly, his only Saturday City win was at Doomben and he could show up with a senior rider on board.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 SONY LEGEND
No 10 OUR BEEBEE She could not have been more impressive than in her three recent wins in a row. Class filly who has been well placed so she gets into her races with handy weights. This is her toughest test but she should just about win again.
No 3 REALING Stable is talking about him as a Queensland Derby horse. But he can sprint well fresh and this looks an ideal race for his comeback. Beat some handy horses last time in.
No 4 KUBIS He is showing promise and a good third last start behind Our Beebee. He would need some luck to reverse the placings but racing very well.
No 9 CANDIKA Another promising filly who has appreciated getting down in the weights her last couple of starts which have yielded wins. Still down in the weights and will be fitter for last start win this track.
VALUE RUNNER: No 4 KUBIS
R6 – 3.17pm. Blokes Day Out Class 3 Plate - 1350m.
No 1 BOLD PEAK Isn't well off at the weights here but never runs a bad race and does have a 2kgs claim here. Finished very strongly last start for a win at the Sunshine Coast.
No 11 A NEW SOUND This is a tricky race because the form is from all over the place. But he has won his past three starts at the provincial tracks in nice fashion. Deserves a chance here.
No 14 DEEP IMAGE He is promising and entered for two races today. He would be a chance in either but stable has indicated he will probably run here. Didn't handle a bog track when beaten last time but go on previous strong win.
No 10 IRONBORN Deserves a win after some strong runs at the mid weeks and provincials of late. He has the top jockey here which is a boost.
VALUE RUNNER: No 11 A NEW SOUND
R7 – 3.57pm. Sky Thoroughbred Central Open Handicap - 1350m.
No 6 BEATNIKS She probably wants a wet track to be at her best but her recent form is very strong for a race like this. Coming back in distance but big fields this track generate pace and that will suit her. Going for third win from past four starts.
No 3 STEEL ZIP Let us down in the Weetwood last week but there were a lot of excuses. He never really got into the race after being pushed back through the field. Loves Doomben and pace on early here will suit.
No 11 PUNTA NORTE He is having his comeback run here after a missing two runs because of a wet track and a ballot. Smart on his day and has won twice first-up.
No 12 EIGHT’S A PARTY Better known as a stayer but also is very good fresh. He has caught the eye in two recent jump outs. He will be big price but watch out late.
VALUE RUNNER: No 11 PUNTA NORTE
R8 – 4.37pm. Events At BRC Benchmark 85 Handicap - 1640m.
No 3 DANCE OF HEROES (BEST BET) He looks the class runner in this field and a good third last start on a track which didn't suit him. He is much better on dry tracks and doesn't look harshly weighted here on best form.
No 2 RULING FORCE Appreciated the drop in class and the dry track to win in Toowoomba last start. This also suits and still well in after a 2kgs claim here.
No 13 RISING LUCK He will be big odds here but his form at the provincials has been solid with a win and a fourth at the Sunshine Coast of late. Seems to go best when there is plenty of early pace and will get that here.
No 6 COMACINA Coming back in distance here but has been very honest of late. The 1600m is probably his best distance and always an each-way hope.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 COMACINA
