It is hard to understand why the main holiday meeting in Queensland is at a country track which is only the third largest on the Darling Downs region, let alone the rest of the state. But it is a nice track with a fairly long straight. The rail is in the true position meaning all runners should get a chance. A lot of horses come from Toowomba for the meetings here so the form is pretty well exposed.

Wide Play: 1,3,4,9/2,5,8,12/1,4,5,6/,1,4,8,16
BEST BET: R1 – 1. PARDOE
Next Best Bet: R4 – 4. CODE ONE
Best Roughie: R3 – 7. POETIC DRAGON
No 1 PARDOE (BEST BET) Hasn't run since December when placed in a good Sunshine Coast race. Previous run was in Brisbane where unlucky in an open two-year-old. He is from a top Toowoomba stable, has the region's leading jockey and drew the inside barrier. He ticks a lot of boxes.
No 2 PRINCELY SUM Only start was a handy second at Ipswich and with a claim here looks the main danger.
No 3 REDEX Well-bred first starter from an astute Toowoomba stable which is noted for first-up plunge winners. No official trial but has gone okay in a jump out.
No 8 CEDAR FALLS First starter now trained in Toowoomba. Has trialled solidly for this and has some claims.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 REDEX.
No 7 SEND A MEMO Nice run on debut when third at Ipswich in a stronger race than this. Drawn a good barrier and looks hard to beat.
No 1 COLLINS CREEK Northern rivers trained galloper who has had four barrier trials but only one race start when well beaten in January. But he was specked at big odds that day and it is a long way to come to Warwick for nothing.
No 9 SPLASH OF CRISTAL Former South Australian mare who was fair only start this area after having little luck early. May go better on a dry track here.
No 11 WILD BOYS He has been backed a few times and beaten a few times. But had no luck at all when fifth in a recent Ipswich maiden and that is good enough to win this.
VALUE RUNNER: No 11 WILD BOYS
No 4 PAYBACK He was once rated a future open company and even stakes winner in the making. But his career has been ruined by injury and breathing problems. Goes very fast and fitter for this after recent Gold Coast second.
No 7 POETIC DRAGON (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been racing very well with two wins and a second in easier company than this. But has a claim for the region's leading apprentice and hard to see why he is the extreme outsider of the field.
No 1 SASSY TYCOON Has a bad habit of being slow to jump and that would be a disaster here. But if she jumps she can win on best form.
No 2 PORTLAND Much travelled galloper now trained in Toowoomba. He is 11 but his Victorian form from last year is good enough to win this. Keep very safe.
VALUE RUNNER: No 7 POETIC DRAGON.
No 4 CODE ONE (NEXT BEST BET) Scratched a few times lately to run here. Good Eagle Farm winner two starts back and then unlucky third at the Sunshine Coast at latest run. That form is more than good enough to win this.
No 3 TACTICIAN Has run some very good races in city class races. He was second to a future top line galloper at Doomben last start and this is far easier.
No 1 NAKANAI He is very hard to catch on his day but when he is on song has very fast finish. He needs plenty of early pace in his races and will get that here.
No 9 CASINO EXPRESS She hasn't run since December when flogged in a race at Eagle Farm. But she does race well fresh and she should have won her only start this track.
VALUE RUNNER: No 9 CASINO EXPRESS
No 12 MIAZUMI She has been well backed her past three of starts in Sunshine Coast and Doomben maidens where she has been placed twice. That form is better than these.
No 8 VICTORY IS MINE A two-year-old taking on older horses but has run a couple of fair races and might be on the improve for racing.
No 5 WAKE UP JEFF He is from a big Toowoomba stable and is improving with racing. He was third in a far stronger Gold Coast maiden last start which is good form for this.
No 2 HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF Generally just behind the place-getters in stronger maidens than this. Gets his chance in this relatively weak affair.
VALUE RUNNER: No 5 WAKE UP JEFF
No 1 JIM 'N' ANDY He has earned his big weight with two wins and a second from past three starts. But gets a claim here for an in-form apprentice and is drawn to get the run of the race.
No 5 BROOKTON ICE Has been disappointing of late but had no luck at all last start at Ipswich and we did like his trial at Deagon last month.
No 6 YOURS TRUTHFULLY He doesn't win many races but he is honest and usually about the place money. He has been placed in handy city company which gives him an each-way hope here.
No 4 SO YOU DRINK He has run second at three of past four starts with his only poor run at Eagle Farm. Another who is honest without winning and rates an each-way show here.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 YOURS TRUTHFULLY
No 1 ROYAL SCRIPT Has a big weight and an awful barrier. But gets a claim here and didn't run a bad race in the much stronger Toowoomba Guineas last start. Suited this trip and this race is lacking depth despite big field.
No 4 DUBLEO'S LAD Has won only one race from 23 starts but good seconds in similar races to this last two starts. He will probably lead here and hopefully will get a soft time.
No 8 LEGS UNBARRED Yet another one who doesn't win often. Ran some good races last year and not too bad recently. Has had a trial last week and should be on the pace for a long way here.
No 16 SALUTE THE PRINCE He is an emergency here but should get a run. Liked his maiden win at Ipswich when he looked very well before the race. Might be ready to go on with it now.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 LEGS UNBARRED
