Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 8.

Tue, 18 Apr, 4:05 AM

Ipswich has been the regular Friday track of late but due to work at Eagle Farm this meeting has been switched to give Ipswich a Wednesday. The rail is in the six metres position for the entire track which means horses racing on the pace usually have an advantage. Good sized fields and there is a bit of depth to this meeting.

QUADDIES (races 5,6,7,8)

Skinny Play: 1,2,6,10/1,2,4,9/1,2,6,11/2,3,8,11

Wide Play: 1,2,6/1,4,9/2/2

Next Best Bet: R7 – 2. OLSSON

Best Roughie: R6 – 9. STELLA GRIS

R1 – 12.15pm - CFMEU Mining and Energy Maiden- 800m.

No4 HAPPY MEDIUM At first start was a good third at the Gold Coast and then no luck when fourth last start back in November at Toowoomba. Has the rails and a 3kgs claim here so deserves to be respected.

No1 ROCKY NUGGET Only start was this track and distance when an unlucky third. Should be improved further here.

No9 COUGAR She was once rated a potential smart horse but has been a gross disappointment. But if she captured her track work form on the racetrack she would win this by ten-lengths.

No12 HARRY'S STAR He has had a few chances and racetrack form is ordinary. But we liked his recent Sunshine Coast trial win. Keep very safe at big odds.

HAPPY MEDIUM Ipswich 03:15 - Winner

R2 – 12.50pm. Ipswich Cup Tix on Sale Now Maiden - 1690m.

No3 SWEET RED WINE First start from a spell was very good and then didn't handle the wet track when well beaten next run. Has since battled on bravely when third after left in the lead at the Sunshine Coast. This suits.

No4 SICARIO Has to be a chance here on fast-finishing second at the Sunshine Coast last start. This track and distance suits.

No7 WICKED QUEEN She has had her chances to win but minor placed five times including a last-start second at the Gold Coast when had little luck.

No1 LIGHT OF DE WORLD Has failed a few times in this type of race but last start was better than it looks on paper. A rough show in a race with only a few hopes.

SWEET RED WINE Ipswich 03:50 - Winner

R3 – 1.25pm. CFMEU Mining and Energy Labour Day Class 3 - 1690m.

No3 PINOLINO Handy on her day and ran second three times including one this track before failing last start at Doomben when beaten long way from home. But that was on a heavy track and better suited here on the dry.

No4 COOMERA Has been racing well without winning and had no luck last start when fourth at the Gold Coast in a better standard race than this. Each-way hopes here.

No5 DAZZLING SHIRAZ Usually about the place money without winning too many. However, last start second this track and distance indicates he is ready to win.

No1 KAPHNI Forget last start failure at the Gold Coast in a far stronger race. Previous form okay for this and might lead here.

PINOLINO Ipswich 04:25 - Winner

R4 – 2.05pm. Channel 7 QTIS Two Year Old Maiden Hcp - 1200m.

No7 AMELIA JANE She was terrific at first start when fifth in a far harder race than this at Toowoomba. She just has to overcome the barrier to win this.

No4 FANTASTIC HALO She was a very good second this track at only start and has a perfect barrier draw and handy weight. She should go close to winning.

No11 SWEET ORPHAN At only race start struck a bit of rouble but still finished fast for fourth in a Sunshine Coast two-year-old when came from a mile back. She is related to some of the best recent horses in Queensland including Group One winner Woorim.

No3 SMARTY JACK First starter from the leading stable who has trialled nicely twice. Hard to win first-up at 1200m for two-year-olds but might be handy.

AMELIA JANE Ipswich 05:05 - Winner

R5 – 2.40pm. Family Fun Labour Day May 1 Class 4 Hcp - 1515m.

No2 SUNNY VICTORY Very good run when fifth in a much stronger Toowoomba race last start. Has been racing well without winning or luck but gets his chance here.

No1 MAKEADANE Fought on very well when second to promising horse last start. Has plenty of weight but this is easier.

No10 LAKOTA SIOUX He is one of those horses you leave out of your chances at your own peril. Has drawn poorly again but with any luck would be in the finish.

No6 THE EQUALISER Has not been far away in better races than this of late and has won this track. Looks one of the main chances.

SUNNY VICTORY Ipswich 05:40 - Winner

R6 – 3.15pm. City of Ipswich Fillies and Mares Class 1 Hcp - 1200m.

No2 HUSSON BOOTS She has been a model of consistency this campaign and is nicely placed here with a claim. She could lead from the good barrier and dictate the pace.

No1 SO SERENE Has raced in stakes class in Melbourne. Only run here was poor but has since had an easy trial where third. She is in a top stable with the top jockey. So respect.

No4 CLEVER CHLOE She has won this track and back in handy form when second at the Sunshine Coast last start. This shorter straight should suit her racing pattern.

No9 STELLA GRIS (BEST ROUGHIE) Didn't look at home on the wet track at Gatton but still battled on for third in an easier race than this. It was her first start in nearly a year and she will be a lot fitter. Stable is noted for upset wins.

HUSSON BOOTS Ipswich 06:15 - Winner

R7 – 3.50pm. Qld Times Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1- 1200m.

No2 OLSSON (NEXT BEST BET) His two runs back from a long spell have produced two minor placings in similar company to this. He is well drawn here and ready to win.

No1 FALKIRK DRIVE He can be hard to catch but there is no doubt on his day he is smart. A good winner last month at Ballina and is up to this company on some handy runs in Saturday class.

No11 LEDOYEN Resuming from a long spell but has been placed this track in handy company. He wasn't asked to do much in a recent Deagon trial and stable often has first-up winners.

No6 WINDCATCHER Run off his feet first up at 900m at the Gold Coast but has raced well this track and this distance suits better.

R8 – 4.25pm. XXXX Summer Class 6 Hcp - 1100M.

No2 INVINCIBLE EXPRESS (BEST BET) She is a class mare who won four races in a row before a spell. Had a nice trial at the Sunshine Coast to get ready for this. The barrier is no help but looks a stakes winning mare in the making.

No3 VIENNA QUEEN Has been racing in much stronger races than this and not been too bad. Back in the right class and has the benefit of a claim here.

No11 SWEET REPEAT Led a much stronger field than this for a long way before stopping in the last 100m at Toowoomba last start. Her record this track in very good and with a 3kgs claim here could give them something to catch.

No8 KHALEEQ He didn't go at all on the wet track last start but won two races previously in similar company to this. Back on the dry track means he rates a chance.

INVINCIBLE EXPRESS Ipswich 07:25 - Winner
