Doomben continues to have a heavy workload and this meeting, the first in the Brisbane section of the winter carnival, has been switched from Eagle Farm. The track is starting to show some wear and tear but is racing truly. The rail is out 1.5 metres and every runner should get a chance on a day when some of the better horses are on show.

Best Roughie: R3 – 5. BENFICA PRINCESS
No1 EMERALD CITY Wet weather meant he was rushed to run in the Toowoomba Cup last start when he did a good job to finish mid field. He is a lot fitter for this race which is lacking in depth.
No4 COMACINA Not sure he really wants 2200m but he has been racing consistently and this isn't strong. He has been placed twice at 2200m.
No 5 CAILLEBOTTE Finally won another race two runs back this track and distance and not bad in Toowoomba Cup when things didn't go his way. This suits again.
No6 LAST SIGHT Backed at big odds in easier race last start when unlucky fourth. Drops in weight here for class rise. Not the worst by a long way.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 LAST SIGHT
No5 COOROI CHASE (BEST BET) Landed some big bets with first start win in fine fashion. Has since worked very strongly and stable is aiming her at Group One races. Looks very hard to beat from good barrier draw on a dry track.
No7 SISTA ACT Speedy filly who raced against some top two-year-olds before a break. Has raced well fresh and has some claims here.
No8 GIRL IN A MILLION Very good winner at first start and then folded badly when well backed favourite at Toowoomba last time. She is much better than that and has a tongue tie this time.
No3 TREVELLO First starter by star sire Snitzel. Trial was okay and from a stable is noted for its smart two-year-olds. Keep very safe.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SISTA ACT
No1 CANDIKA Won first two runs back from a spell and then very strong at the finish of a 1350m three-year-old race last start. The 1600m looks ideal for her as does the set weights against own age group.
No5 BENFICA PRINCESS (BEST ROUGHIE) Rain ruined her lead up to her come back run at the Sunshine Coast when she finished fifth and looked in need of the run. She has a very big finish on her day and watch for her late.
No2 OUR BEEBEE Started favourite but never a winning chance last week in a Doomben three-year-old over 1350m. She did run on and the 1600m should suit her better.
No4 PERILOUS LOVE She was being mentioned as an AJC Oaks hopeful but stable elected to freshen her up for the Brisbane winter. Very impressive winner two starts back and down in weights here.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 BENFICA PRINCESS
No4 LAND OFFICE His two runs from a spell have both been very good and should have nearly won instead of finishing third last start in a similar race in Toowoomba. Hard to toss now at third run back.
No3 DANTGA He has always shown ability and back somewhere near his best with a win at Grafton last start. This is harder but usually races well here.
No7 MAGNUS COR Even run first-up when fourth at the Sunshine Coast under a big weight. Down in the weights and suited with pace on here early.
No12 ASSERTORY Hard to catch this mare but on her day she would win a race like this. Her second-up form is very good.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 DANTGA
No1 INTO THE RED By far the best horse in the field on his old form. Resuming here and got knocked about in recent trial third. He has won three times first-up and deserves plenty of respect.
No4 IN HIS STRIDE Flashed home again when second at Toowoomba over 1100m last start. Probably wants further than 1200m now but if the pace is on early, as it should be, watch for him late.
No8 ROCK ROYALITY To put it frankly he has been disappointing of late for a horse which once broke 1 minute 8 seconds for 1200m. But this is a weak Listed race and he did trial nicely recently. Likes dry track and a fast early pace.
No12 ROUND MOUNTAIN GAL She will be very big odds here but she was a good second this track to a smart horse two back and then no luck on a bog track in Sydney last time. A bit of rain would help.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 ROCK ROYALITY
No10 ALL OVER BOSANOVA Unbeaten mare in four starts who is looking at winning better things. She is well drawn here so should get the run of the race.
No1 RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR Smart gelding who is never far from the money. Suited by the weights here and although is usually better second-up looks a top hope here from an inside barrier.
No2 GUARD OF HONOUR Newcastle galloper who has form around some smart horses in the south. Won a trial for first-up run here so respect.
No8 TIYATROLANI She can mix her form but at her best would win this. She should go forward from the draw fresh here and put on the pace for a long way.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 TIYATROLANI
No2 SINGLE GAZE A Group One winning mare who showed she was back near her best when third in a Group race in Sydney last start. She has her share of weight but still not baldly off as the winner of over $1 million.
No10 SHEISWHATSHEIS Looks the only leader in the race and was a good third in the Toowoomba Cup last start. Back to the Doomben mile where she has won twice recently.
No4 SAKHEE'S SOLDIER At first run back from injury for a year was very good last week. If he backs up here he is a Group One winner so respect.
No11 CANTBUYBETTER He was racing without luck before lumping 59.5ks to win a restricted class race last time. At his best distance with a light weight and top jockey.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 CANTBUYBETTER
No10 DON'T TELL MAMA (Next Best Bet) Her style of racing means she can get into trouble in the straight and that happened last start when an unlucky second at Toowoomba. She has a good record this track and nicely drawn. Looks very hard to beat.
No13 KUZNETSOVA Brilliant winner last start in Toowoomba which followed a couple of unlucky runs. Deserves a chance in Brisbane on recent efforts.
No7 GOOD JOB BRO Surprise winner three starts back and two runs since have been handy. This type of race suits very well.
No5 CRAIGLEA WANDOO Prolific winner in country Queensland but has won twice at this track. Forget last start failure at Yeppoon when nothing went right.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 CRAIGLEA WANDOO
